International N7105 firmware confirmed working on i317!!!

For any of you who want to have your cake and eat it too, you can now flash the international N7105 firmware onto your AT&T branded i317!
What does this mean? It means that you can give AT&T the middle finger by having unlocked firmware with none of the restrictions and bloatware. By extension, this also means that you can benefit from the development going on for the international devices.
Finally, this also means that you can reap all those benefits without sacrificing LTE access in North America!
Now that this has been confirmed to work with the i317, I wonder if the T889 is next...

We tried flashing the international N7105 firmware onto the i317 using Odin, but that didn't work. However, the procedure seems to be working if, instead of using Odin, you flash a re-packaged stock N7105 firmware using a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP, just like flashing any other custom ROM. Once that's done, just flash the AT&T modem/kernel, and you're all set!
Unfortunately, there hasn't been much development for the N7105 yet. Root, CWM, deodexing and all the other basics are there, but that's all for the moment. Devs are still trying to work out N7100/N7105 inter-compatibility. N7100 firmware will flash to an N7105, but the modem won't work, so that's pretty useless, and that's what we're all trying to fix.
At least, in the mean time, you can enjoy a stock N7105 experience in North America without AT&T/Rogers sticking their fingers in the pie

Is the 7100 the non LTE version and 7105 LTE? If this allows us to get FM Radio on our North American Note 2s, I'm going to be very happy!

Very nice.
Upon thinking about it. I believe there is a way to use this method to give us international firmware and also retain our NA CSC's so we keep carrier specific settings such as Wi-Fi access, Fast dormancy and the like too.
Currently working on it and will get back to people once I am finished.
Glad to see someone else was working on this as it was something I wanted to get around to messing with but have been busy poking into Bootloaders and dialer codes.

Agreed however, no one knows for sure it isn't present in our devices and that Samsung just removed the driver at the request of the greedy NA companies. They don't want us listening to something for free when they can force us to connect and use data. Maybe the driver is in the 7105 firmware...

Did what Miscom had done and got the latest GT-I7105 Unbranded firmware release LJ5, with this one I injected the Canadian CSC's and everything seems to be working except a few carrier apps that check for the proper model number they would force close on me.
Going over this firmware, seems okay but doesn't seem to be any better then the stock LJ2 that came with the phone.
My main hope with using an international firmware would be unlocked dialer codes, and I was correct in my testing, any carrier locked dialer codes are controller within the firmware + check what CSC you have as well.
Got some working that I couldn't before hand, however the main one that I wanted to use was the *#7465625# to view network lock status, it was one that I couldn't get working, but I believe that it wasn't working because my phone is already a factory unlocked one so to really know for sure I'd half to have one that is known to be locked.
Anyways, glad this experiment worked, I will definitely be looking at this again in the future, however I know that the Samsung Canada is planning on releasing an updated firmware for the phone at the same time or soon after the Canadian S3's get their Jelly Bean updated, and it is also rumored that they will be 4.1.2 as well. So with this possibility I will be going back to Bell's Stock firmware and see what we get in a few weeks.

To my understanding, yes. I am downloading it now and will be flashing it shortly. I'm curious if the Wallet issues were NA specific to ATT as well? I should reread those threads to see what the problem was...

I think that could be right seeing as this is a tiny update in general.

Please, don't create expectations or start rumours about possible ETA's.
You've seen it with the 4.1.1 update, carriers can hold up the process undefinitely if they feel like it no matter the "size" of the said update.

I read about this last night too. There's no way of knowing when or if we will ever see this officially. Just as European S3's got the multi-window already it's up to the carriers. I'm sure they'll find some way to get it in a custom rom on here when its out.

We'll probably have the Galaxy S4 before this update even arrives..

Sounds interesting but I wouldn't get my hopes up for a release any time soon.

I'll go with my guess of A LONG TIME FROM NOW. Carriers are usually like hey, we just sent out an update a month ago, why send another one now? Let's wait for pigs to fly.

So far, it would just be the international i9300 version in Poland or the UK.
Nothing for the i747 yet. You will still have to wait a few weeks for the leak.
I've been toying with the idea of changing the CSC on my phone to trick Samsung Kies to download it to my phone.

I believe it WILL work as you've said. The APK files themselves would be the universal part.

it's much more complicated than just the APKs. you need the modified jar files as well, which will boot loop a Us Gs3. search for the GS2 tutorial on how to run multiwindow to see how complicated it really is. in theory, it is possible to modify the jellybean us GS3 files to get it all running on our phones. but, it will take some talent.

4.1.2 update

Does it not piss anyone else off that the Samsung galaxy s3 for AT&T still hasn't gotten 4.1.2 or even any news on it. The galaxy s2 even got the update for AT&T, so how is it not yet out for the s3.

It's very annoying indeed. However, there's plenty of custom touchwiz roms with 4.1.2 features and they're debloated.

Not being from the US I can comment on ATT, they are probably making sure the N S A can still gather information on the general public......

Did you call, email, or contact them in any way to let them know of your displeasure?
They don't read these forums. If you're unhappy, you need to let THEM know. I did - and if enough paying customers threatened to go elsewhere, they'd pay more attention.

Yea I spoke to them, but they kept giving me the BS that they were waiting for bug fixes for the sgs4 to be fixed. Theyre 2 different devices, so why does that affect the s3's update?

One thing at a time,I guess. And if it bothers you that much, maybe look at the nexus line of phones

the only way i can sleep at night is hoping their just skipping str8 to 4.2.2

Because they probably only have one software team, and only work on one Samsung device (or just one device - period) at a time.

How to get the Samsung 4.1.2 update:
1. Root your phone with chainfire's CF autoroot method.
2. Install chainfire's app Mobile Odin from the play store.
3. Download the T Mobile T999 update from samsung-updates.com.
4. Flash everything from the update EXCEPT the modem.
Enjoy the 4.1.2 goodness...

Yeah, I've seen that one. My response was aimed toward the most "stock" experience. Not everyone wants deodexed/busybox/toggle mod/etc...
Personally I'm using the tmo rom, with the T-Mobile bloat uninstalled, Google keyboard, and aosp mail.

I read some where yesterday the reason for the delay of the galaxy s3 and note update is because a new touchwiz is being developed and is supposed to bring us up to 4.2.2.. Time will tell there is alot of B.S. on the internet as we all know.

Samsung released 4.1.2 to the carriers awhile back and all the carriers but AT&T have completed testing and pushed it out. The delay is entirely on AT&T's side at this point.

mobile Odin gives you the option to clear the modem from the install. desktop Odin does not.

Let's just go straight to 4.2.2...

International ROMS on T-Mobile

Does anyone know how much of a difference there is between the international ROMS and the T-Mobile ROM ?

I don't think they will work the 3g and 4g bands are not the same

If its the same as the S4 LTE then all you have to do is use a TMO kernel.
I'm pretty sure the GN3 Int LTE & TMO will be the same since they are Snapdragons compared to the Int non LTE with Enyxo (sp).
Bands have nothing to do with ROMs since you can add your carriers APN yourself.
With that said, we will find out soon enough. Just have to be patient since they device just got released.
This is probably why I'm waiting a few wks to months to buy the GN3.

Exactly bands has nothing to do with ROMS. Just keep the tmobile modem and the kernel. But anyway KNOX could be a [email protected](*#CH to avoid. We will see.

Use Titanium BU to remove Knox or remove the apk from the ROM before installation. But like u & I've said. We'll see.

What I meant by Knox is the Knox Kernel security at boot (0x0). with this, We are not sure how its going to play out.

Ah, and yes that is very true. I'm gonna guess at least a month or more before we start seeing custom kernels. All depends on devs getting one anytime soon.
I'm so impatient, I knew reading these forums would be bad. Yes, it's always better to blame someone else instead of yourself, LOL. I just came home with the white GN3.

Congrats on your phone. Im really considering getting the TMO version and use on ATT. I cant imagine being stuck with 1 rom with no root. thats horrid

Getting this phone soon, I have a few questions

I'm coming from the att s4 and using safe strap has been horrible for me. Does this device need Ss? Does a certain version or basband need it?

If you're getting a T-Mobile note 3 you won't need safe strap. If you're getting an AT&T one than yes, you will need it.

you dont have to worry about a locked bootloader at all! get the phone, root it and put any of your recovery you like!
