Epic 4G Root {Mac users, I need help}

I've already got the 3 files on the Mac OS X. (Modem, Kernal, and ROM). They are extracted as md5.
Now here's my problem, when I try putting my phone in Download mode, it's like it won't connect to the Mac and I get a message on the laptop saying "(Gadget {something} is not configured.) (I forgot the second part to Gadget) Anyways, I click on configure, and it tells me to put in some info like: Account, password etc. Now I'm not paying the bill, so I don't know the account or password. I tried checking some options for USB settings. I tried connecting with debugging on and off. Still nothing.
Again, I have the files and everything I need, my problem is connecting while in download mode.
Maybe there's another method for installing a Root on the Epic 4G while using Mac?
Help is greatly appreciated.

Even when the phone ISN'T in download mode, it won't connect. I'd have to use AirDroid.

Wait! I didn't install the Samsung/ANDROID Drivers, because this Mac isn't mine, so I don't know how. Maybe thats the problem?
Can someone please explain how to install the Samsung/Android Kies to a Mac?!?

I booted into windows to root so I doubt ill be much help. First of all OSX recognizes my epic without drivers. Second, odin does not work on OSX and as I understand you have to use a program called heimdal. In general I've found rooting much easier in windows.

[Q] i need to brick/erase my wifi

i need to erase or brick my Wifi on Galaxy S3 for family reasons.
if theres no way then can you tell me a rom that has no working wifi in it?
please help, i went to a store and they wanted 30$ to take the wifi chip out, its expensive.

Just don't tell them what the password is so it won't be input

but the problem is, he/she goes to a lot of places and know her friends wifi passwords so i cant, and my dad forced me to do that and if i dont he wont give the phone to the person

please, can you teach me how?

If you are rooted, go to /system/lib/modules and delete dhd.ko. Bam, WiFi is gone.
If you're not rooted, well I don't have an answer for you.

ES File Explorer has root rights for free, could be something to look into.

USB Reverse Tethering on Linux

I've tried a couple of tutorials, but without luck...
Does anybody was successful in seting up USB reverse tethering on Linux (I'm using Mint 15)? I've got adb/fastbot drivers, but it won't work

I've always just used clockworkmod tether app.
it's great for this on any OS

It's live USB... I don't have space for Wine... btw, I was trying playing with Wine in the past, but without luck... and I'm pretty sure that reverse tethering net will be slower with emulated profram

that is something my nokia n900 had years ago...and it worked! Basicaly, you crack the password of locked wireless spots

O.O, no joke?

Aircrack is a wireless security tool that tests the APs near you. You can inject/receive packets and decrypt the WEP/WPA key from them. I never thought it would work on Android but sounds legit as Android is a linux.
Btw this should not be on Dev forum please move to general, ;P

nope, just test it by yourself, there was a lot of unsuccesful tries to make that work, till now, i hope so...

I have made reaver for android . I have beta test. Wait a little . with reaver you can crack WiFi network with wps available like reaver 1.4 . it will be an apk farmat file

I am. CyanFOX, but bcmon is FC, or fails to enable monitoring

Try again some times do
Note turn off WiFi now use bcmon click enable monitor mode do nothing leave it now use aircrack it works

Bcmon is killing the wifi. I enable it, but when i pres enable monitor mode it just freez and then FC

Please try to understand turn off your WiFi now use bcmon and click on enable monitor mode it does nothing no problem now click home screen button you are on your home go to apps and use aircrack now scan it works

Can you do it for CM 4.3.1 ?

Why does it happens to work under Cyan-Fox 4.4 and not under CM? Does CM11 uses different WiFi drivers?

Actually, It can and has been tested to work with both voice and text but as of data I am not sure. Might require specific APN programming to work but even then you might only get 3G as some has stated they have received.

To relock the slot just run the same commands but type "1" instead of "0".
