[Q] sorry for the repeat - Charging Issues - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I would like to apologize beforehand for bringing up a problem they may have been posted here several times.
My S3 has taken 4 hours to charge 60% yesterday was fine as usual 100% within 3 hours. Before I start doing any factory resets or downloading calibrating apps, I wanna ask is there anyway to check if this is a device problem or a cable problem?
I'm using the usb that came with it. I also want to ask others how long is the life of their stock cable? is there any soft spots where i bend it once the whole cable may be useless (just like the psp)?

Could be an app running making your battery charge slower? Try charging with airplane mode on or with your phone off...Does it charge regularly then?

[Q] [Help] usb charging and mounting problem

Hi guys, any help would be appreciated. Basically in order to charge my phone i have to plug the cable in and reboot my phone so it knows its charging even when this is done it doesnt charge correctly as it usually jumps 50-60% after the reboot. Then using throughout the day it will drop suddenly then tell me its charging even though its not plugged in and the battery % actually goes up. This was fairly amusing but now im worried. The second problem is now my computer no longer regonises my phone saying its malfuctioned and my phone doesnt know its plugged in untill after a reboot where it will charge but again not register its plugged into a computer.
To me its seems like a software fault however after a data wipe/factory reset and battery stats wipe and reflash the problem persits. I am on AOKP M4 with latest franco nightly.
Ive put it down to three things that i did that night:
1) accidently plugged it into my tablet charger
2)used the fast charge on franco's app i have disabled this with no effect
3)Had a system UI crash after my torch went funny
Edit: Tablet charger output is 5.3v, 2.0A for my touchpad
Lol, this seems to be quite a big problem.. I did a quick search on this forum over the last two months, and found these threads with the same problem:

The problem is a faulty USB port, and Samsung/Google really should take action on this!
I took action myself and changed it myself..
Thanks
Wow ok thanks, I did do a little search nothing seemed exactly like my problem but yes a few of them threads do so thanks for putting all that leg work in hah. Ah if i opened it up don't think i could put it back together. Thanks for the advice.

Note 2 charging complete randomness - bad port?

Hey guys:
I'm an IT tech and I'm really confused on this one. Started happening a week or 2 ago. I'd be charging my phone and it'd randomly cut out. I run Carbon ROM and have the notification light set to be a solid yellow when charging so I know if it's charging or not. It would happen very infrequently, but would cut out. I'd unplug and replug and it would be fine for the most part. It's gotten progressively worse. I was running NEAK kernel so I tried to go back to stock Carbon trinity kernel, same problem. The other day my phone would also randomly go in and out of "car mode" too which was weird. Currently, I have it plugged into my computer so it's charging in USB mode (lower voltage) and as of right now it's holding charge. But prior to last rebooot it was going on,off,on,off with the charge. Today my phone has locked up a few times when plugged into a full AC charger even. Seems to be completely random right now. I'm just looking for any advice. Going to flash a different ROM and see if that does anything. If not, what part would I need to order? I saw a Youtube instructional video on how to replace USB port and I'd be willing to do that. I bought my phone off Craigslist and have had it for like 6 months. No proof of purchase, which you need for Samsung warranties right? The battery is not "swollen" in the middle. Oh, also this morning, when it was going in,out,in,out,in,out constantly (on full AC charger), i could actually HEAR the (official Samsung) charger resetting itself almost, in sync with when the charge would cut out, if that makes sense. I could actually hear the charger making a "click" everytime it would lose charge then it would try charging again, and would click off again, over and over. Lastly, today I also saw in settings->battery it saying "charging" even though the charge light on my phone was off AND i saw it drop a percentage so it wasn't actually charging. VERY random. Maybe clear battery stats? Doubt that'd do anything... I have CWRP on my phone...
Any thoughts at all on this or if you've seen this would be great. Likely new USB port needed. Where to buy? If new ROM does not fix, it must have to be replaced. That's all I can think of....
Currently, it is holding a charge. I re-installed NEAK kernel, and set the AC charging to 1000 instead of the default of 1700. This happens though. When it seems to be holding, it's fine until I unplug and try later and then all the randomness begins. No idea what to think of it. Don't even know if setting to 1000 had anything to do with it working, likely not....
Didn't see it mentioned. Have you tried a different cable or even a different charger? Would do that before changing a usb port on the phone. Doesn't sound like the port if you are able to charge via a PC USB.

[Q]SM-T211 battery drain problems

Hello,
I have a problem with this tablet , when i charge it to 100% and use it for like 5-10mins i'm suddenly at 1% battery. But i can still use youtube or other apps for 40mins + So i'm pretty sure the battery is at 95% or something.
Also when i charge and stop charging it can reset the whole thing and say that i have 2% battery.
I already tried to charge 100% > let it decharge 40-50% > power off 5houres > but didn't help..
Somebody said remove the battery for 5mins and problem is gone..
Anyone done this so far?
i'm on STOCK ROM , no root or what so ever.. NO battery save app or something like that.
Hi, I'm having the same issue but it's not as dire as yours. Since you're not rooted or anything, I strongly believe it's a hardware issue, try replacing your device cause it shouldn't drain that fast. I'm using nolekat rom and it takes me 10 hours to charge fully or more but half the time for it to be drained. I haven't tried removing my battery manually but you could try that too. Most likely it's a hardware issue since you didn't mess with it so much. Hope this helps.

Hi,
My tab is getting switched off frequently though the battery is fully charged, it suddenly dies down during any kind of work and im not having battery draining problem in my tab. But when I plug in a charger or battery bank then the tab works fine with out shut downing. Is this problem related to battery or hardwire or software. Kindly suggest if some one facing similar situation
Hi XDA
I have another problem, not too bad as yours, but very nagging and upsetting. What happens is that my tabet takes practically half a day for charging up the battery. It takes like 12 or more hours to charge up from 0 to 100%. I have tried unplugging the battery as you explained many times, also draining it, but nthing changes. And even worse it is when I'm just plugging my device after totally drained the battery, so when I try to boot my device it may boot up, when it does, after one minute it's turning off because of a suposedly 0% battery. Really I might get either that 0% or 1% battery, but after a minute when I just plug it in and boot up, it may turn off even though I turned off the sceen inmediately.
I think. the problen is maybe on the battery or in the USB port, I have tested many USB cables, many chargers, charging from my PC, but the problem keeps going an and on and on. I would like to know why this problems is happening, if I could fix it up by myself, for instance by replacing the battery or the USB port. This device was a gift, and since I got it I was dithering whether it was normal or not, but by asking soome mates and reading your post I realize that this is not normal.
Hope you read this quick reply. Many thanks for your advice and giving me advice on what and how I should do...

Changing the USB flex cable worked for me, try to buy one and watch some good tutorial about how to replace your tablet's components.

So many thanks for your advice!! I went to buy Samsung original charger. I'm very happy now. My tablet now charges way faster (in 4 or 5 hours). I didn't ever think of this before.
Can anyone tell me the best rom for SM-T211 and the links to download it please
And thanks in advance
My SM-T211 tab 3 restart it's self after 4 day of rest or flash what can i do

charging issues I think I have a bad battery

Like the future says I'm having serious issues with my battery i can leave it to charge for a whole day and it will only charge about 5% if i use the tablet plugged and use the tablet it will discharge about 3%an hour I'm using the stock charger with stock USB I've tried different chargers and there even worst i have gone back to stock several times and no difference to charge issue I've read that chagrin to full and then deleteing battery. Bin file should fix this issue and it didn't fix at all do i opened the back panel and pulled the battery for about 5 mins still nothing now I've completely wiped internal memory then installed cm12 rom and still nothing in posting a pic to show how it's been plugged while screen on and the battery is depleting at the same time
It's it possible to find out if my battery is damaged
Try using a different USB cable. I started out with the stock white one that came with the unit, and later on, I was finding that it was taking 5+ hours to charge fully when it used to only take about 2.5 hours. I swapped the cable with an old cable I used with my Blackberry (used the same Samsung wall charger though) and it started charging normally again. It seems those stock white USB cables go bad over time, which is weird but true.

Battery Issues

Okay I've had my galaxy S3 for some years now. Randomly I started to have a problem with my battery. It started dying faster and faster. After that a new problem popped up where it would only charge up to a certain point, around 35-50% and then stop. Now i did try many things and i feel like theres is nothing left to try. Im not sure if this is a software or hardware issue as i couldnt figure out the problem. I have tried changer the wall adapter, usb cable, and batteries (all official samsung ones). I even got an external battery charger and charged the batteries there and put them back in my phone. What i noticed is even a full charge on the external battery charger would show as a 35-50% same as when it charges and stops charging through usb. The magic number i noticed is 37% for all batteries, chargers, cables. Slowly this started changing and now it no longer charges properly at all. when plugged into the charger the battery drains completely to 0% on charger and if left overnight will jump to 100%. this 100% doesnt last long however and the cycle continues. Sometimes the phone will die and i plug it to charge and it will be at the 35-50% spot. The only thing i wasnt able to do was test with another s3 as everyone i know is S4 and higher. Any help would be appreciated as upgrading is not an option right now financially.

Need more information. ROM/TouchWiz version, have you tried wiping? clean install? etc.
When the problem first started i was on a custom rom but this was a while back so i dont remember the actual name of the rom. I was running that rom for months brfore the problem started so i doubt it was a rom issue. After dealing with the battery issue for a while i started to get annoyed. So i unrooted and reflashed stock firmware hoping it would help but it didnt. I ran stock for a while. After that i decided to try flashing a custom rom again to see if it would help. Currently im running TMS3KK 3.1 TW 4.4.2 and the problem is still there. I have tried factory resets, wiping everything and even battery calibration apps but nothing seems to help. My battery indicator can go from 100% to 12% just by unplugging the charger. Sometimes my phone would die and den turn back on with like 40% or so. Really can tfigure this out i feel like it might be a hardware issue. Also is *#0228# command useful?

I have the same problem. Try using rubbing alcohol and toothbrush to clean out the USB port. Also take a look at this link to remove corrosion from the port.

I dont think its a port issue as an external battery charger doesnt seem to fix the problem either. Problem seems to be with the phone not reading the right percentage.
I used Kies 3 to reload the firmware to KOT49H.T999VVLUFNH2. Battery is more stable now.
Yea i tried flashing back to stock as well but unfortunately didnt help me.
