is there any possible way to use sense camera on cm ROM ??
No. Requires Sense framework.
Guys I though that was impossible too have HTC camera on AOSP roms , I know because of framework. But a great developer here, one of my favorites, kerneldev101 (hope I wrote well the name) said to me on her thread Rom DHDsamtation or similar name lol, that is not impossible to port sense camera to AOSP ROMs, because their team also ported many apps and camera from Touchwiz to AOSP 4.2.2 to our device.
Still I AM confused about this, if is possible or not.
But wish was possible and we could start a thread and help developers with donation to port sense camera (and sense keyboard too, will be nice) to our device =)
Is the only things that fault on our Desire HD and really need on AOSP roms.
Sorry for bad english, not my native language, and auto correct prediction errors keyboard lolol.
Cheers

99.9% is a no, because they need the Sense Framework, and that comes with the Sense Roms.
Sorry mate!
Polite answer: No, impossible.
Rant: This has been asked since the days of the G1 & Magic when the Hero launched. So please do a search next time.
You can try apps from the market:
Try Dialer One to replace your dialer and
Camera 360 to replace what you got.
Bare in mind that certain nexus one developers (IE Enom) have done this successfully. It may very well be outside the scope of the skill of lots developers over here in the desire forum though - I know I would have no idea in hell where to begin.
Hello Guys,
since the first Ports from the one V and the first AOKP roms with ICS I was wondering.
Why is it possible to have Camera feature as long as Sense is not there?
I was reading something about drivers. But why is it not possible to take the camera drivers from the AOKP and take it to the Sense Version? Is Sense that deep into the system that they may need other drivers (other code) or something?
I'm not familiar with that topic so please don't rip me appart
Greetings
MiXed
we will have to wait for htc to release the camera drivers for DHD when official update 4.0 will hit it and no sense is different from aosp and each one of them use diiferent kernel so we will have to wait for update
As I saw on every ported ICS Sense4 ROMs for DHD, main problem with camera is with drivers. OVE V has different camera hardware and devs cannt get source code to port it to DHD. I know every1 is inpatient but all we can do is to complaine and get banned
Does that mean that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get the camera working without HTC's help or just very hard? I'd have thought that if it was a driver issue the aokp camera would work on sense roms because the hardware is the same (i know this isn't the case, just don't fully understand why)...
developers are trying very hard to solve the camera problem and android 4.0 is not official yet so you may not enjoy a nice experience of it untill htc officially release it for DHD
Hi All
Is it possible to create rom based on CM9 but with HTC Sense 4.0 ?
I'm impressed by Cyanogen performance but I love Sense too, partly becouse of it I had buy HOX...
If I'm right Sense is just a launcher plus widgets so why don't cook it with great CM9 base ?
Thanks for replies
not sure this is possible due to different source code

You are not right. Sense is not just launcher. Its integrated into the system.
And threads like these are many I believe.
And I doubt this would be allowed by HTC or licensing. Also it defeats the purpose of CM9.
Rather then this go the other way.
What do you like on CM9 thats purely on CM9? If its some widgets get someone to port them out if its not already done.
I think its possible like current miui bases they are based on sense this means sense framework is included and can run sense applications and with miui frameworks and other files status bar lock screen themes and others from miui.

Awesome idea!
Toga! Toga!
so basically your asking for ICS "pure" with a sense launcher?
instead of the stock ICS with a sense launcher?
it would defeat the purpose of CM since the idea is a more "pure" google experience, adding a sense launcher effectively turns it into a sense rom and any benefit is then lost, we already have many of these roms available now.
It's a bit like saying can i have a fat free piece of cheesecake please im on a diet oooh and can have a gallon of ice cream to go with it.
I'm asking for ultra-performance sense rom.
All bases from HTC are slow and inperfect, CM9 with some linaro particles is just sick fast.
This all "purity" of CM is logical , why they should create own launcher - it require tons of logical and visual development (read. Money).
Sense is most advanced enviroment for android which HTC is creating for some 7years ? (including win-mo)
Why don't combine two best android experiances
CM performance and Sense visual quality.
I hope some dev will read this thread and when soon CM will out of nighty we can all enjoy best rom ever.
I have a major doubt about CM9 here. Why are there so many CM9's in the development section? When i had my nexus s there was only 1 cm9 thread started by the official maintainer of the device!
Furthermore which among the various CM threads is the actual one from the CM team with the official maintainer?
Or hasn't CM officially supported our device? I read that the SGS3 got official CM9 nightly builds.. Do we also have official nightly builds?
I'm actually on AOKP build8, with Faux kernel, everything is fine, I like the look and feel (but missing the original HTC feeling, would love them to unbloat sense a bit and get to the origins...)
The one big thing missing (for many peoples I guess) is the Camera app...
Now here comes the question : haven't there been sens phones which camera app had been ported to aosp allready (like HTC Desire ?)
If this was possible then, isn't it now ? (while taking in consideration 4.0 is different from 2.X...
I'm just thinking to have a look at Venom (but hey, AOKP will get Jellybean much much faster )
Should I try Venom or is it justwaist of time ? Is there a way for the camera to beThanks for everything

The HTC camera needs the Sense framework, so it's almost impossible to make it work. The only way to have the best of both worlds is to use a sense rom with an aosp theme.

I know it need the senese framework, else I would not ask for it to be ported to AOSP
My question is not on how top prt it, but if a camera apk from sense has ever been ported outside of it.
I'm not too eager to go bck to sense, as multitasking is crap and just have 300MB more romsize for the camera ? Not sure...

This will not happen due to the closed drivers. Hence why on most aosp and aokp roms on any device we rarely see the stock applications running on them.

im bit late, but its possible (maybe just WAS with older versios): www.androidcentral.com/get-htc-desire-camera-nexus-one-without-loading-htc-sense

The Sense camera app is the reason im not using a custom rom yet, I want to use Epsilon Project (based on AOKP 4.1.2), but I want the sense camera, it is sad to hear that it is imposible to do this :crying:

EpsilonProject has a pretty nice camera that makes me forget the Sense one.
I only need to figure out how to disable face recognition.

You have also this one

but why dont you install a APK for good camera ??
camera + ?
Hi guys,
My first post on this forum will be a question, and please believe me after searching in different topic I have not found an answer to my question.
I am the happy owner of a HTC X ONE, and I had the opportunity to flash several types of ROM: Cyanogen, AOPK, MIUI, STOCK-LOOK ...
And I fell in love with speed, speed, simplicity of cyanogen roms and its derivatives (such as PARANOID)
Especially with CM10 Jelly Bean.
But I have to stay in a rom type VIPERX, android Revolution HD, despite my distaste for the overlay SENSE because the application Camera (and in a less importance the gallery app) is just perfect . I think I'm not the only one in this situation.
Is it there's AOSP ROM projects (such CYANOGEN PURE), with an idea of a port of the fabulous camer app ?
Is it possible to make this port, or the only possible solution is to wait for official 4.1 ROM and remove any touch of SENSE keeping the application?
Thanks for your answers.
No it is next to impossible, if anything incredibly unlikely, as HTC sense uses different framework.
