[Q] [IDEA] CM9 Base with Sense 4.0 - HTC One X

Hi All
Is it possible to create rom based on CM9 but with HTC Sense 4.0 ?
I'm impressed by Cyanogen performance but I love Sense too, partly becouse of it I had buy HOX...
If I'm right Sense is just a launcher plus widgets so why don't cook it with great CM9 base ?
Thanks for replies

not sure this is possible due to different source code

You are not right. Sense is not just launcher. Its integrated into the system.
And threads like these are many I believe.
And I doubt this would be allowed by HTC or licensing. Also it defeats the purpose of CM9.
Rather then this go the other way.
What do you like on CM9 thats purely on CM9? If its some widgets get someone to port them out if its not already done.

I think its possible like current miui bases they are based on sense this means sense framework is included and can run sense applications and with miui frameworks and other files status bar lock screen themes and others from miui.

Awesome idea!
Toga! Toga!

so basically your asking for ICS "pure" with a sense launcher?
instead of the stock ICS with a sense launcher?
it would defeat the purpose of CM since the idea is a more "pure" google experience, adding a sense launcher effectively turns it into a sense rom and any benefit is then lost, we already have many of these roms available now.
It's a bit like saying can i have a fat free piece of cheesecake please im on a diet oooh and can have a gallon of ice cream to go with it.

I'm asking for ultra-performance sense rom.
All bases from HTC are slow and inperfect, CM9 with some linaro particles is just sick fast.
This all "purity" of CM is logical , why they should create own launcher - it require tons of logical and visual development (read. Money).
Sense is most advanced enviroment for android which HTC is creating for some 7years ? (including win-mo)
Why don't combine two best android experiances
CM performance and Sense visual quality.
I hope some dev will read this thread and when soon CM will out of nighty we can all enjoy best rom ever.

I have a major doubt about CM9 here. Why are there so many CM9's in the development section? When i had my nexus s there was only 1 cm9 thread started by the official maintainer of the device!
Furthermore which among the various CM threads is the actual one from the CM team with the official maintainer?
Or hasn't CM officially supported our device? I read that the SGS3 got official CM9 nightly builds.. Do we also have official nightly builds?

Take a look of this section of the forum to find the most suitable rom for you!
I'm very happy with CM7 nightlies. But if you want Sense, you should try the Kingdom port.

In my opinion the question is not "Witch is the best Android 2.3 rom for HTC Desire ?", it is " Witch of these Android 2.3 roms is more suitable for me ?"
I say that becouse i try all the roms from the launch of HTC Desire until now and i like all of them. I`ve had miui rom for like an haf a year at the start, becouse i didn`t like so much Android 2.2 froyo, then i migrate to the cook of devs around XDA, and CM7, Oxygen also.
I think that, when you have a free day, you should try these roms: MIUI, CM7, the one made by baadnewz, it`s much stable than the others for now, the one made by Alex (i like his roms from when he start doing stuff for HTC Desire).
I think these is the big categories made by me.
Personaly i like and use for now the one made by baadnewz (the stable v1.0.8)
If youd like effects you shoud try MIUI first.
If youd like simplicity and speed you shoud try CM7.
If youd like sense and a little speed you shoud try the one made by baadnewz.
Without anger, i apreciate all the work from all the devs around here. I have a big respect upon them (i`m not able to do anything then flash a rom )
This is just my opinion.
MIUI of course
I think the question is incorrect. Everyone chooses what he likes, what fits his needs more.
Want latest HTC Sense, that was not designed for Desire, but theoretically can run there - go for RCMixS
Want slim and quick but naked ROM - go for Oxigen
What pros of CM I don't know. Basically it's like fat Oxygen, with added features.
Despite they look different, but have very similar concept of UI. MIUI has different approach, which for my taste is much more successful. As it claims on MIUI official website, it takes best of Android and iPhone. Totally agree. Tried latest RCMixS after I tested MIUI and couldn't keep it even couple days, returned back to MIUI.
But it's of course my opinion.
Non-existent!

Sorry, but there's no such thing as "the best ROM" for any device. There's ROM's you like and ROM's you don't. That's like asking what's the best film, or best music track, or best food. Everyone has their own opinion which is why life is so much fun!
Personally, I've been using Baadnewz InsertCoin Nightly for weeks (now on v43). Superb Gingerbread ROM and lot's of great features from Sense 3 too
I prefer insertcoin. Very fast, no lags, bugs - everything is ok
This is Development forum and I believe this thread needs to be moved.
And I rather prefer Oxygen Everyone basically likes different ROM, but better one is with smaller amount of bugs

Hi.
I´m addicted to InsertCoin too.
If you want a Great ROM , Insertcoin will be your daily driver ))
I User IC v43, withe Alex Diaz Theme 13 (Found on IC Downloadpage too)
But i suggest, you download 2-3 ROM´s you "like", and install them, and find out which one is Great for you
Greez
Joachim
stop spamming here its a dev section
Since I got the phone with Sense on it I take preference to Sense ROMS, I have also tried MIUI and AOSP ROMS like Cyanogen and GingerVillain all of them offer something that the other would be lacking.
So for me out of the 3 variants these are what I use,
• Sense ROM: Reflex S
• AOSP ROM: GingerVillain
• MIUI ROM: MIUI XJ
I use all of them and I change every few weeks when I feel for a change of scenery, they all for are the best ROM because they are made by the best developers.
As for the BEST ROM for you, thats is your decision!!!
A very generic question in a wrong section.
Hi,
I think this post is usefull so different users can state why they choose this or that ROM.
In my case I currently use MIUI (from XJ) mostly because that ROM is fast, has a very nice interface, the menus are very different from stock android, the phone/dial and messages apps are great. However sometimes I get some FCs in Camera app so sometimes I like to install the Leedroid Sense ROM as I also like he Sense UI. However in the last Leedroid ROMs the notifications area is too transparent so some notifications are hard to see (not sure if you can change that) so I get back to MIUI.
After reading this thread I'm now going to try the insertcoin ROM and maybe the CM7. The only thing with non sense roms is the phone/dial app, even apps like Go Contacts are not as fast and usefull as the one with sense or MIUI.
Of course there's no such thing as the best ROM, but for each person there are some ROMS that are better.
Cheers.
There is no best rom. It depends on personal preferences.

Ok so change the question a bit. Whats the fastest rom "Benchmark wise" the fastest i have found is oxygen 2.1.3 all others are slightly slower. Also another question i have is can you flash things from one gb rom to another like for example "Volume button music track skip?" from cm7 to gingervillian?

How do I know what kernel I can install with my rom?

I want to install the Incredikernel since I hear is so good and I am running the OTA Unofficial Froyo 2.2 Rom from incredibleroms.com. I am rooted and everything. Can I install the Kernel? And how do I install it?

Thats really good information. But how do i know weather I am running AOSP or SENSE? Like I said I have the OTA Unofficial 2.2 Froyo Update, and I know AOSP means it started from scratch but I dont know wether the Rom i installed is, how can I figure this out through the phone or can you just tell me
It sounds like you're on a sense rom. Sense is HTC's skin for android, it adds certain functionalities and features (primarily social networking). If you have HTC apps (check settings>applications>manage applications) then you're using a sense rom. Do you have HTC sense widgets available to add to your screens? Then it's sense.
Chad has an incredikernel for froyo (android 2.2) sense roms, it should be near the bottom office the OP of his incredikernel thread. If you want to use his latest kernels, they are only for AOSP gingerbread (android 2.3) roms. AOSP roms for the incredible include cyanogenmod, MIUI, OMGB & OMFGB, IncDeck, evervolv, and liquid light.
I suppose you could say AOSP (android open source project) roms are built from scratch, but it might be more accurate to say built from source, the source being Google's. Just about every phone is shipped with the manufacturer's "version" of android on it, sense for HTC, blur for Motorola, touchwiz for Samsung. Only Google's nexus devices ship with the unmolested "stock" version of android, and that's why they are always the first to receive updates. Hopefully this info helps!

Alright can you help me locate a Rom of my liking?
I really like the Stock rom, but I want a AOSP Rom. I basically just want it to have the Stock HTC Launcher but I dont want it to be so slow for instance, for me Skyraider 4.2 is slow because it takes five times the length of time for it to Boot Up then using the Stock 2.2 unofficial OTA.
Is Binny Rom a AOSP rom? And I dont want to lose the 8MP camera or 720p HD Recordings.
Well, if you need 720P, there aren't any AOSP gingerbread roms that will work. Also, if you want the HTC launcher, you'll need to be on a sense rom, there's no way to use it on AOSP.
That said, what are you looking for in a rom? Skyraider is a very solid rom, and will be very similar in functionality and stability to the stock rom. I don't know why it would take so much longer to boot, are you using the stock skyaider kernel or another one?
Let me know what features you have to have in a rom and we'll figure it out. Unless you read through all the rom threads (like I do for some reason), it can be hard to tell what the feature and especially functionality differences are.

I used the stock kernel for sky raider. I believe Sky Raiders is a sense rom isn't it?
And basically I want something that is stable with no foreclosures. With the stock rom I have never had a foreclose. Something that i can customize the look of easily I loved sky raider for that but then i want to a AOSP rom to have the liberty of messing around with my phone better. I really don't mind the hd recording I just want to keep my 8mp camera.
Also can't I install a launcher from the market to give me stock looks?
If u tell me sky raider is also then i will keep that one
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
You're right, you can install a launcher from the market and should be able to find a sense-like theme for it if you want. I'd recommend making a backup of your current rom, then flash the latest cyanogenmod nightly. The nightlies have some newer features that the "stable" releases don't have, and they're just as stable, if not moreso. With CM7, you have a TON of options for themes and modifications, and its always been perfectly stable for me. Look around in the android themes section and search "CM7 theme" on the market to get an idea of all the ways it can be customized.
With CM7, you won't have 720p video recording, but the still camera can be used at full resolution. There are an unbelievable amount of features and tweaks that CM7 adds, I'd recommend looking through the wiki on their website and browsing the threads in the development section. If you don't like it, you can always restore your backup. It might be fun to check out some of the new gingerbread sense roms too, if you like the sense interface. Those roms aren't as stable or fast as CM7, or froyo sense roms (like skyraider), but can be fun to mess around with.

downgrade HTC One V to android 2.3 Sense 3.6

Can anyone downgrade Htc One V to android 2.3 with sense 3.6 for full animated Rose effects, or upgrade to Full Sense 4.0 with all animation and effects.
Can anyone (Developer) Port Android 2.3 with Sense 3.6 to HTC One V?

Good question, I was actually wondering the same, while android 4.0 is here working on this phone, I feel sense 4 makes it a bit sluggish....
Stock android 4.0.3 or even stock gingerbread on this phone would be awesome...
That's awesome idea, i would love to see Android 2.3.6 and Sense 3.6 on my ONE V. Maybe i'm just not used to the 4.0 yet

That is correct. I like Sense 3.5 on my old Desire S and I think it's possibble to have custom sense 3.5 running on 4.0.3. that would be awesome to have Sense 3.5+ICS features.
Android 2.3.x with Sense 3.5 is good
I think it is batter to have Android 2.3.x with Sense 3.5 for Htc One V, to perform better then Android 4.0.x, so i hope there is any developer the port it from Desire S or Desire HD

We're not picky, we just want to have more options. For the CM9 fans there should be CM9 ROM and for the Android 2.3/Sense 3.6 there should be ROM too. I strongly feel that the hardwer of HTC One V is designed for Sense 3.6. HTC made a mistake by porting Sense 4.0 to this smartphone in first place because we didn't get the full Sense 4.0 but something similar to "beta" i.e HTC customized the Sense 4.0 specially for the One V which resulted with losing some genuine Sense features like the Leap view.

When asking for stuff, make sure to get your nomenclacture correct
Froyo / eclair (Android 2.1 / 2.2) had "sense", referred to as "old sense" or 1.9
Gingerbread (Android 2.3) had sense 2.1, 3.0 and 3.5 (the latest referred to as "runny" ROMs)
Handsets that shipped with gingerbread, and were then upgraded to ics came with sense 3.6 HTC wanted the same user experience as 3.0 / 3.5 for its "older" handsets
Ice cream sandwhich (Android 4.0 +) sense 3.6 (upgraded gb phones), sense 4.0 lite (One V), and sense 4.0 full
So, NO handsets, as in NONE have gingerbread and sense 3.6......ZERO.
I can understand asking for:
1. Gingerbread / sense 3.5
2. ICS with sense 3.6
3. ICS with a sense 3.6 / 4.0 hybrid (like the old 2.1 /3.0 hybrids)
4. ICS with full sense 4.0
But not gingerbread and sense 3.6........doesn't exist.
I have been running sense since the beginning, literally, the "cube" on the HTC touch, then manilla 2D, 3D, sense as in winmo sense ala HD2, then Android sense. When talking about sense, proof read and make sure your not mixing up the varients and what they can run on. You cannot ask for a "port" for something that doesn't exist.

yes. no sense. if you want sense. stick with sense 4. it is much more optimized than any other older sense, I can tell you that! but if you want a faster phone with no lag, go with stock android with no user interface. install a great launcher like Nova and enjoy android experience how was meant to be!
We do not need Sense... All we need is stock working Android 4 ICS build and cm9.. If someone want to help me port that Rom please pm me.. I do not have the phone yet.

Yes as we need
1. Gingerbread / sense 3.5
4. ICS with full sense 4.0
any one from them, whatever easy to port with full function.
but we like to have full animated Sense as it was i think option 1. Gingerbread with Sense 3.5 as best for HTC One V and compatible with hardware.
I like choice as much as anyone, any "flashaholic" does. The more the better.
There is always the possibility of "rooted stock" that you can add flashable zips to. Examples would be added leap view (available on the desire), rc team tweaks, optimo tweaks etc which offer different animation on / off, different Rosie (that's the name for the sense launcher btw) mods, flashable themes (requires deodexed ROMs), etc.
My so called list was the various sense / android combos that could work on the One V hardware, by no means meant to be definitive. I have not heard of many people wanting to downgrade their version of android though, sense 3.6 is basically sense 3.5 reworked for ICS.
Shubbysomethinorother (sorry Dude!) was a talented dev on the Desire, I have always enjoyed his ROMs. Cpk5 (sorry if I got that one wrong too) is a talented themer. Asking guys like that for ROM extras like flashable zips that may or may not work on a rooted stock ROM is the best, imho way to go for most as it allows you to add the features you want, and ignore the rest. No one ROM will satisfy everyone.
A device with alot of dev support tends to get this, if not, be nice to the devs you have! Politely asking for features, and not demanding etas etc is a good way to start.
Good luck guys, myself I keep visiting this phone at my local store comparing it to my Desire. It's cheap enough off contract to make a nice development toy while waiting for a One S with real storage, or the "two" series!

Just take the plunge. I bought one as a stop gap until the next HTC Nexus device (hopefully released November as per the rumours). Until then, the One V is great. Just needs an AOSP ROM really.

Sense vs Senseless ICS ROMS

Im looking for a stock ICS ROM, where the user experience is as google intended but still makes the most of the HTC hardware.
This is my first android phone and im currently running CyanogenMod 9 - Endeavor Unleashed | 017, which I really like - minus the bugs...
How will a ROM like this compare to RENOVATE 2.1.0 | SUPER FAST, which is a sense ROM with a ICS style launcher over on.
Will it still have all the ICS style menus, contacts, animations?
Which will run faster and more stable?
cheers,
maybe the renovate is more stable because it's based on sense, but the experience of cm9 and aokp is more pure ics, and you have a lot of personalization and theme!
With a powerful device like the One X, a ROM's speed can be mostly a subjective feeling. As far as stability goes, I tend to lean towards Sense-based ROMs, at least until all the AOSP ROMs iron out their bugs. Another reason for favoring Sense-based ROMs is the retention of the Sense camera. Other cameras seem to have trouble with overexposure because of the f/2 aperture.
In summary, a Sense-based ROM that strips out most of Sense, leaving only whatever is required is a good bet, at least for now.

Which will run faster and more stable?
cheers,

Try Slim ICS or Paranoid rom..both based on cm9 but with added features...both great if you ask me my friend..
Renovate is based still on sense framework and uses a few sense apps still...i do recommend that as well. New update will be coming soon so id wait for that if you want to try...for now as the poster above said i would go and try Renovate..i know the developer and nothing but good dedication from him

[Q] Is there any project of a ported version of the sense camera app ?

Hi guys,
My first post on this forum will be a question, and please believe me after searching in different topic I have not found an answer to my question.
I am the happy owner of a HTC X ONE, and I had the opportunity to flash several types of ROM: Cyanogen, AOPK, MIUI, STOCK-LOOK ...
And I fell in love with speed, speed, simplicity of cyanogen roms and its derivatives (such as PARANOID)
Especially with CM10 Jelly Bean.
But I have to stay in a rom type VIPERX, android Revolution HD, despite my distaste for the overlay SENSE because the application Camera (and in a less importance the gallery app) is just perfect . I think I'm not the only one in this situation.
Is it there's AOSP ROM projects (such CYANOGEN PURE), with an idea of a port of the fabulous camer app ?
Is it possible to make this port, or the only possible solution is to wait for official 4.1 ROM and remove any touch of SENSE keeping the application?
Thanks for your answers.
No it is next to impossible, if anything incredibly unlikely, as HTC sense uses different framework.
