I wouldn't say all amoleds are. The Note 2 does not have this issue.

Right, bad choice of words.
If you guys have a custom recovery, Imoseyon's kernel in original android development section has a fix for it...

I have had my galaxy nexus for a few days now and I like it, but the screen strains my eyes. I have no idea why. I have been using LCDs for my whole life though . Anyone else? Thank y

On max brightness, this screen is quite intense. Personally I find auto brightness to be a much better fit.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Okay, I usually don't use auto brightness but I'll try it.

I think/hope he was talking about his own question.
I use auto and I have noticed a bit of eye strain after many hours of Netflix. I don't remember my One X causing so much. Maybe try 50% or 75%? CM10 and modified kernels have custom color settings you could also try.

I think it is the color shift. I noticed the same thing when I first got the Nexus. Since I moved to a new ROM plus kernel I don't have the strain anymore. I could be wrong and maybe I just got used to it but it seemed as soon as I flashed I was much happier.

No problem. I didn't see any reference to what model you have if you have Sprint try this Rom.

It is only for Sprint though so if you have GSM or Verizon you will have to try something else.

If changing software doesn't fix an issue it's usually hardware which you can't change. If you're still under warranty then try to get it repaired/replaced.

that it is likely a hardware failure and as stated you should get it replaced.

In ICS it lit up pretty good and now its kinda dim, what gives? Is this normal ? How can I make it brighter again?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Looks the same to me, try a factory reset.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
If not that, try an app called Light Flow Lite - that has some LED settings you can change.
T999/CM10
I'm bone stock and this is my second s3 in two days that the led looked dim after the update already tried a factory reset.

Mine is also dimmer than it was on ICS. After the OTA update I noticed it. Did factory reset with same results. Formatted everything and applied the rooted version through odin and still have them dimmed LED. Updated my brothers S3 and his is the exact same. I got a text message last night and the LED was fully illuminated, but after I opened it and received another message after it was dim again.
This needs to be fixed I'm very ocd about stuff and this is fine of em

Same thing happened to me, my wife and I have the same phone but I didn't update hers yet and I have seen a big difference on the led. Mine is dimmer than hers. I did factory reset and same thing.

Well it probably does, but it can't save much. LEDs barely use any power.

I always thought they needed more power? but they are more efficient as using this power?? I dont remember its been forever since ive studied electronics
Anywasy, on topic, i run CM10 and dont think its all that dim. Maybe they added an option inside the settings for brightness? I wish it had the "breathing" option instead of just flashiing. But check for a setting maybe?

Not really positive about details. I think they are more efficient. Whether they use more power I have no idea. I know our utilities company is offering to take old Christmas lights and they give you LED strands instead for free.

Single color LEDs are quite efficient. These multi-color, variable brightness LEDs are somewhat less so. That doesn't really matter the question at hand though because most of the power drain of LEDs is just having them on. The difference in power drain from a low intensity to a high intensity is marginal.
Hey everyone,
Just received my note 2. I have noticed a light leak coming from the left side of the home button. It is visible only in the dark. Is it normal or do I have a defective device

My second Sprint replacement had that going on, I never checked for light leak though.
Swap for another
Actually my home button is pretty much level. It's just this small dot of light that annoys mw. Its on my replacement as well. I just dont if it's normal.
