Hi, I have a small query. I've recently gotten root privileges on my phone HTC Inspire 4G, I have unlocked the bootloader but I'm still S-ON. I wonder if I can install an ICS ROM or JB. And what kind of ROM, if AOSP or other, greetings.

If you are so kind to give me the direct link because I'm mobile would be eternally grateful if you tell me what is the best ROM for my I4G / DHD
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
It's the Ace Think Tank thread in DHD General. And no one else can answer the best ROM question; the best ROM is the best ROM for you and your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30020025
The info is in a pdf file.
Best rom is subjective.

I read the document and said that only the S-Off can install customs ROMs. So to say that my I4G / DHD I can only set you AOSP ROMS? And if the only method Put the ROM on the root of the SD and flash from CWM Recovery? Sorry I'm kind of newbie's insistence

It's been a while since I've read it.... But there should be a section if you are only bootloader unlocked.
Edit: in short, aside from flashing the rom zip you need to flash the rom.img or something like that. There are several rom threads over the development section that detail how to get it done.
2nd EDIT: It's on PAGE 4.

In the Sonyericsson X10 section, we have a flash util, so we can flash whatever firmware version we want...
Do something like that not exist for the desireHD ?

Thanks for your answer..
So there is no flashtool to use, in order to revert back to an older Rom like them we have available to our X10 phones ?
The x10 can be flashed with all kind of stock roms using a simple flashtool, and without any changes like Root and s-off things...
The tool probably act like Sonyericssons update service SEUS..
But to understand this correct, there is no way back at all for us who didn't think about it, and just updated to the latest firmware ?
I'm sorry for the questions, but many things is called something else, and looks completely different here at desire hd section, when I am used to the x10 terms...
So it is all a little confusing...

Take a look in the Android Development section of the DHD Forum and you will find all you need. You do need to get root and then RADIO S-OFF but there are two simple tools to achieve that. See HERE for the guide.
If u accepted the latest OTA and did not have radio S-OFF then there is no way back................at the moment.

Hi, I would like to help my friend install a custom Rom on his desire and need to find out the general steps of what to do??
I have a desire hd and I'm not sure if things are a little different.
For my desire hd I : root, s-off, install custom Rom via cwm.
Is that the same steps as the desire??
My friend is on software number 2.29, can that build be rooted or does it need to downgrade first?? Also I've just read a couple of threads regarding installing a custom Rom and they don't refer to having s-off so was wondering if he needed to be s-off to have custom Rom, id assume he did.
Yeah if someone could help by just saying the steps in which to do it, id look up the rest ,
Thanks in advance to anyone that could help.
P.s its not for me, I'm doing it for a mate who is a complete noob.
Thanks a lot

Hello and sorry if this question has been asked again.
I am new to MildWild community and I am asking if anyone can provide me some instructions on what I have to do in order to flash MildWild CM 7 on my HTC Desire.
My phone has official 2.3.5 HTC Rom and Stock kernel.
I am not a completely NOOB (hope so :silly by I need some instructions.
Do I have to change the phones kernel?
The recovery mode must be installed on the phone or its there by default.
Again sory if those are silly questions be I want to do it the right way.
Thank you in advance.
Root
S-off
Flash custom recovery (4ext)
Partition SD card using 4ext recovery (1gb ext4, rest fat32)
Flash the ROM

Check out the All things root guide in my sig.
There is a lot of reading, but it's important to understand what each step does, and why it's important. Once you understand the basics you'll be flashing a different rom every few days for a while
Good choice on the mw cm7 rom

DONE it!!
I have done a lot of flashing in my previous phone. Xperia x8.
The steps where pretty much the same.
I am already running MildWild CM 7 on my HTC Desire.
I chose this ROM because a friend of mine was pretty amazed how good it is.
Thank you all guys.
Hello to all that had taken time to read this I appreciate your help, today i have tried several roms, cyanogem mod 7 and 10, also a version of ICS that did not support the camera. I have found this thread on XDA developers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846304

Please tell us about your setup. Are you dev unlocked, s-off? Verizon phone? What rom?
Did you wipe your cache and delvik cache too?
Note: I may have spelled that wrong.
