It's rooted an is installed with HTC One V Sphongle 4.2.2 Jellybean custom ROM. I've been using it for a few months and had no problems with whatsoever till I just rebooted my phone and it's stuck on the multicolored "X" sign, and the flare behind would move around much like a Nexus would just won't budge and it doesn't respond to anything, it's been like this for few hours. I tried holding down the power button but nothing happens. Btw, will the screen have a burn-in? Just curious. Helps are much appreciated!!
Did you make a cwm/twrp backup? If not you can try reflashing the shpongle.zip rom without wiping, I had this once and it worked. Hope this works!

you have 3 options:
1) is to restore your backup by going to your recovery. This will help guaranteed, but you will lose all your data since your last backup
2) is reflashing the rom, you have downloaded from shpongle thread, without wiping anything. You will still have all your data if I'm correct but I am not 100% sure if this will work
3) is wiping your dalvik cache

Before you give up, try removing the Sim first. Then try holding the power button to reboot

I just installed HBOOT .92 on the root of SD card. It installed because it is listed at the top of recovery. But when I try to reboot, it keeps coming back to the bootscreen. I've tried powering down, but still comes back to bootscreen. What have I done and how can I get out of this? First time I've ever had what seems to be a potentially serious problem.

just restore through recovery... you got a back up right!?!
after you restore, it should be fine. updating HBOOT wipes your kernel which is why this happens.

Okay, not real sure what I did, but seems that I got out. Was finally able to get back to recovery screen and in the process of doing a nandroid restore.
Regardless, curious as to what I did wrong? Almost scared to attempt again. I guess I don't really need it, just feel like I need to have the latest and greatest of everything. Thanks for any input.
So, do you install the kernel right after flashing the new HBOOT, but before rebooting to avoid the problem again?

it's honestly not really a problem. just nandroid before you update HBOOt next time.
OR
not sure if this works but have a kernel backed up on your sdcard before hand. just flash the kernel from recovery and in theory you should be good to go with a nandroid restore.

Sounds like a soft brick.
You'll have to get a more experienced users instructions, but I'm pretty sure if you can get to recovery mode you should be able to use a RUU to get back to stock.

I'm assuming you can get back to TWRP (either from the bootloader or using adb)? If so, load the CleanROM zip back on your sd card if it's not already there, do a factory reset, clear dalvik and cache (just in case), and flash CleanROM. This will clean up anything that was left behind from the Xi40 install. Yeah you'll have to restore all your apps and stuff, but it's better than having an unrestorable soft brick.

Hi I have recently bought a preowned htc desire from my friend. When i received it from him it was working fine but then i went to factory reset the phone to get rid of all of his contacts and user data. But when i tried to factory reset it, when it turned back on it came of with the htc white start up screen saying htc then it went into another screen just saying android in grey text. It stayed on this screen for ages and i didnt know what to do. I took the battery out then put it back in then tried to wipe everything in the hard reset option. I have clockworkmod on the phone and i tried to install a rom to flash it but it didnt work. I'm fairly new to this stuff and am hoping that someone can help me. Thankyou
no worries dude. Download a rom u want to try, store it in say downloads folder, reboot into recovery (take battery out, put back in, hold volume button down, press power on and u in recovery). Wipe dalvik cache and everything else to be safe. Flash new room or load one via mount options in recovery. Might have one in backup so restore backup first if you wish.
some roms can take like 30 minutes to load so don't rush it.

That one's fine. Please detail step by step exactly what you're doing to flash the ROM. Also you might want to try another ROM and see if that one's ok. It could just be a bad download.

What i did was download that file then i transfered it to the sd card. After that i booted it up into recovery mode i wiped everything 3 times just to be exactly sure. Then i accessed the sd card and i selected the ROM. It then took me into the installation, i clicked on all the things that were absolutely necessary then i installed everything. After that i rebooted the phone and it just stalled on the HTC screen and didnt move from there. Are my steps right or wrong????

How are you wiping? Also, try downloading and flashing a different ROM. Which recovery? Also, when you reboot holding power and volume-down, what exactly does it say on that first white screen?

I'm about to try another mod and im not sure what u mean by first white screen but if u mean the screen wen i go into the recovery mode its looks like wat comes up wen u google htc desire recovery screen(sorry i cant post links i just registered) but if u mean the actual normal start up it is normally just the htc start up screen saying htc.

Aha. Don't just do a cache wipe and factory reset (aka data and cache wipe). You need to wipe /system, /data, and /cache. That is a full wipe.

CWM is the recovery. The bootloader, which comes up after power and volume-down, is white and says some stuff at the top (which I want you to put here) and a list of options (fastboot, recovery, reboot, etc).

Thankyou everyone for their time trying to help me solve my issue. I have found out that it was the ROM that i was using when i used the first ROM it didnt work and i am not sure why but it was only 7mb but then when i used the other ROM it was actually 160mb and that ROM fixed my problem. Thankyou everyone for their time you have made me extremely happy today.:highfive::good::laugh::fingers-crossed::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory:

I recently flashed CM10. I used pimp my rom which is pre installed. Before modifying a couple settings I used the un-pimp option to revert any changes I may have made. when it went to reboot it never rebooted, it just stayed at the HTC EVO 4G boot screen but never changed. It won't boot into recovery either. Tried clearing data from bootloader.
Please Help,
Thanks

If you can get into your bootloader, download a recovery again and install it through the bootloader, that should clear up any issues. Then reinstall or restore a rom.
Thank you!

Hello,
I need help.
I rooted my samsung galaxy s4 mini, and all was well, until I used some theme chooser app, which took forever to load a theme, so I took the battery out, and now it wont load past the samsung logo.
Phone details:
Has cwm.
Australian Telstra version of the phone.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE GT-I9195T
I know I could simply redownload firmware and re-flash. But the firmware is over 1gb, and on very mimimal data this isnt a option.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Try clearing data and cache. If that don't work, the only option is flashing a new one...

I tried setting a theme and i was on a stock rom.
Would installing a custom rom fix the issue?
Thanks.

Why bother paying when u can fix it yourself. As suggested by users above try cache and dalvik wipe first. Then if it does not fix, wipe data.
You need to be in recovery first. Press and hold power + home + vol up keys till phone vibrates. In recovery choose the wipes mentioned above. Keep in mind that data wipe or factory reset all apps u installed , contacts , messages and google account if u have one. Good luck.

Ive done that so many times. Never ever works.
I decided Id bite the bullet and just download the stock rom and reflash. IT FAILS EVERYTIME.
IM willing to pay anyone who can provide me a direct link to the rom I require, meanng know capthcas have to be filled out etc.
What version were you using? 4.2.2 or 4.4.2?
@iJoshAU
if you have nandroid backup you can restore it. If not, downloading entire stock rom is the only option. Go to sammobile.com and use the firmware section to get stock roms for I9195T.
Again repeating :: since data wipe did not work for u , restoring nandroid/ CWM backup is one option and flashing stock rom is another. good luck.
NOTE :: If u are already on kitkat bootloader you CANNOT downgrade/flash jellybean stock rom. you can flash only kitkat stock rom.
