In win8 you must turn off "Driver signature check" before instaling drivers.
Search on google, there is planty off tutorials how to do it.

When you connect your device, once pop-up showed that you don't have the driver, just manually point to the folder where you placed the files and it will automatically scan that folder for the drivers.

Hey all,
I am trying to update my father's phone to the 6.1.a.2.55 firmware update. But no matter what I do, it just doesn't go beyond this step in the jpg.
What can I do.everytime i connect the phone, it keeps saying I need the PC Companion. I have downloaded and installed the PC companion 6 times already. Also, when the phone is ON, I can see it. But the moment the phone auto shuts, the computer says 'USB Device not recognized.'
I have a Windows 8 HP AIO Desktop..what is the way forward...

there's no error in installing the drivers, the status is "device not found"
Phone [Q] my laptop doesn't recognize my phone (flash mode & fastboot mode)
Try this:
(1) Go to device manager
(2) Plug phone in and look for any changes in your list of devices (maybe under other devices) should have a yellow box with exclamation mark
(3) Once found right click then click browse my computer for driver software (point to the folder where drivers are)
(4) Install from there make sure driver signature is off like instructions above :good:
Use this ( View attachment driver_androidusb.zip )... It will work for Arc S and Other
click Thanks if I Help
still not working...
here is the device status...
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A request for the USB BOS descriptor failed.
try to uninstall any Android Emulator programs you have
Check also if both ends of the usb cable are properly connected and intact to phone and laptop.
Install Android SDK, open it, install all drivers with it. That should do the thing, if I remember correctly.

how do you install the drivers using android sdk?
If it's possible for you and not too painstaking, try and format your system, and then do a fresh install. Worked for me when I had a similar problem in the past.

Download latest version of flashtool. During installation, scroll down and make sure you select installation of fastboot drivers. That should work. I had a nightmare of a time trying to get my phone detected in fast boot mode. This method worked for me.

Try this, download and install latest flashtool. Go to the installation directory, find a folder called drivers and run the exe "flashtool drivers". Scroll down and select Xperia Z AND FASTBOOT DRIVERS. Reboot PC and see if your PC detects your phone in fastboot
Also keep in mind, to have adb running, enable Android Debugging on your phone.

I can't believe it. I must have spent 8+ hours screwing around with various drivers, uninstalling, reinstalling, uninstalling again, and even ended up buying a new data cable (per so many suggestions) and this is the only thing that worked: This exact version of Samsung drivers! It must be a Windows 8 thing. I was ready to find a Windows 7 PC after all of the direction I had read to do so.
Thanks!
