Hey,
Just got my HTC One X (the AT&T american version) a couple of weeks ago and I'm having some problems with the screen, the same as the youtube video "HTC One X screen artifacts" (sorry, the forum doesnt allow me to post the link)
I read somewhere that the only way to fix it is getting a new one, or updating my phone firmware to 1.29 or above.
I'm trying to update it, but I'm still having those strange artifacts on my screen.
Does anyone know how to do it manually? Without using the phone screen, only the computer.
Thanks
Check your bootloader, when it say EVITA you are in the wrong forum and have to seek help in the at&t dual-core hox XL forum. Procedures will probably be the same but flashing anything from here may lead to a proper brick !

hi ive been having some problems trying to root my htc one x phone on telus (in canada). unlocking the bootloader worked but when i tryed to do fastboot flash recovery in command prompt it would say error. ive tried other methods to get the recovery to work and to get superSU on my phone so that i have the root but none seem to work. can anyone help me find out what im doing wrong and how to fix it? also when i tried to do the recovery the first time it sent me to a black screen with a green loading wheel over a phone not moving, then a few seconds later it send me to another black screen with a phone and a red caution sign, i dont know what this means but i knows its not helping. any progress will do thanks
Umm isn't the Telus the dual-core version? This is the forum for the International One X. Despite your device being known as the One X, it's the One XL here.
You can find a guide for your phone here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814914
PS. do not install any ROMs from this section, you will brick or even possibly hard brick your phone.
Dear All
I need some help
Got a new HTC One XL today (UK, Everything Everywhere)
Unlocked the bootloader using HTC Dev
Tried to flash recovery (recovery-clockwork-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img)
Now I get the "This build is for development purposes only ...."
I can sometimes get to the bootloader but the PC does not recognise the phone when it goes into bootloader
When i choose recovery it boots back to the splash screen with "This build is for development purposes only ...." again
I am lost for things to do now and desperately some help
Let me know - thanks
Caolfin
You're in the wrong forum, this is for the Tegra 3 One X - you need to go to the AT&T forum...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Out of interest though, what build version does the phone run (if you noticed)?

Augh no - sorry about that !
I didnt take a note of the build version I'm afraid - is there a reason for asking the question that would help me ??
You're the first person I've seen with a One XL and I was wondering whether it has an EU software build as the only other XL I've seen was in Australasia and that has an Asian build. Curiosity more than anything.
I take it your device says 'Evita' in the bootloader and not 'Endevoru'?

Yes, it says EVITA in the bootloader screen
I am seeing plenty of the bootloader screen - this thing wont even normal boot into the phone software any more ;( I'm devastated !
You're going to need to get the right recovery.img but it's dependent on the ROM version you're running...There are fastboot commands that might work...
fastboot getvar mainver
That will list the build, then we can hopefully go from there

I will try a search of the forums for th recovery img for this build but would really appreciate your help ?
So it's running an Orange build - interesting...
I'm having a look about, can't promise anything but we'll see
Hello everyone, it's my first post.
I have a strong desire to install Paranoid Android on my phone, one of the first things I did to accomplish this was root my phone.
Note, I don't remember how I rooted my phone, just that I did and executed a root checker to confirm that it was successful.
After rooting I began watching a video tutorial but found myself stuck at the boot screen, unable to proceed.
Here is the above mentioned video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=a3pof_WSEEI
Still clueless, I reached out to Reddit for a better guide. It seemed that the video I was watching had assumed I had done certain steps which I had not, so I tried to learn what preliminary steps were necessary.
I was then referred to the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843585
I began to review all the content and started completing the steps one by one, but I got stuck.
When it came time to bring up my identifier token and submit it I was told that I failed somehow.
It was at this point when I noticed that my boot screen says; *** TAMPERED ***, *** LOCKED ***.
Interestingly enough, the boot screen in the above mentioned video tutorial does not say the same messages as mine, so I thought "herein lies the problem".
I figured that the reason why my identifier token was rejected is because I rooted my phone, so I proceeded to unroot my phone.
I found some instructions, which I cannot find anymore, and downloaded an application to unroot my HTC one X.
Here is the above mentioned file I downloaded: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/HTCOneX/unroot/OneXUnroot.zip
I tried running the program, as instructed, but failed.
Now I feel stuck, I didn't feel compelled to post here before, but now I do. I really just want to get what I want done ASAP.
I would greatly appreciate any and all help you can offer.
You need to work out which phone you have.
Does it say EVITA or ENDEAVORU at the top of bootloader?
If it says EVITA, you need to go to the One XL forum, this forum is for the quad core Tegra 3 (ENDEAVORU).

It says EVITA, a thread was created here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32991667#post32991667
If it's EVITA then you're in the wrong forum. Yours is the US version which uses the S4 Krait chip, while ENDEAVORU is using the Tegra 3 chip that comes with the international version of the HoX. Yours is called the HTC One XL on XDA.
i tried to install new ROM. It couldn't make a new tmp/update_binary to I rebooted to Fastboot
Now my phone won't turn on, no LEDs come on.
HOWEVER, when plugged into my computer, the computer recognizes that something's been plugged in (with that du-doo) noise, but then quickly makes the (da-da-da) noise to inform me that the USB device isn't working.
Where do I go from here. I've searched for hours on this issue...
Let's get the stupid questions out of the way first: did you try to boot to bootloader? (hold voldown and power 15sec)
Can you see the device in windows device manager? Any info there?
Sent from my HTC One X
Thanks for response,
It has not booted into the bootloader. And still won't
Dev Manager gives me a Code 10 for the device (device won't start)
I got another Code 28 (wrong drivers) for some device called QHSUSB_DLOAD, but that might be something else.
Are you sure you have the international tegra 3 one x?
It seems it is stuck in QHUSB_DLOAD-mode which is a qualcomm specific mode.
It seems your phone is bricked pretty hard, but I'll try to solve this.
Sent from my HTC One X
I have the AT&T, qualcomm HOX. NOT the Tegra 3 model. For sure.
Doh...
I FOR SURE have the AT&T HOX, NOT the Tegra 3..... Geesh
I've got to these forums thousands and thousands of times...
I can't believe that i clicked the wrong forums ONE time... and this consequence is pretty large.
I appreciate your willingness to help...
What rom were you flashing?
It may have been a international one x rom and that's why it's bricked.
Sent from my HTC One X
It WAS an international ROM... i'm sure of it. // Still can't believe I made that mistake.
So where do i go from here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1966850
I guess it's not completely dead since Device Manager recognizes it
Though, It seems that the only way out is to find a computer and natively install Ubuntu
I see you shifted to the correct forum.
Best of luck for you. Hope you manage to unbrick.

This is the correct one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
If I could , I would like some help. I am new to the Android thing and with a ATT Htc one x , I tried the rooting thing. I successfully got a Viper xl rom on the phone and thought I would try something else. Using the All In One toolkit I downloaded from a link at another forum. I managed to get the phone relocked when trying to get back to the stock rom. Now the PC (windows 7) will not recognize the phone. The AOI will not see the phone. The phone wont connect to the PC. When plugged in either as AC or USB to the computer a screen comes up with FastBoot, Bootloader etc. The phone shows in the device manager but no where else. Using the AOI I can get it to get to a screen that is black with htc in the middle which came from recovery to flash a factory RUU in recovery. But it wont work.
Have I "bricked the phone" or can it be recovered ? If so I would like someone to help me with a guide on what to do. Not that savy when it comes to computers. I can manage to screw things up more than fix things with a PC.
AW: [Q] I would like some help please
Can you boot normally?
Point 1 : never use something from another forum than the forum from your phone !!!!!!!!
Point 2 : you are in the wrong forum here
Go to the AT&t,rogers,HTC one XL forum and please stay there if you don't want to brick your phone !
(If its not already now)

I thought I was in the HTC one X section here . sorry if I am wrong. The forum I was refering to was for HTC one X. The toolkit I used was for the HTC one x.
Sorry to intrude here. Will go back and do some more searching on the net for help.
Again sorry to make an intrusion here. Some of the information I read was from this forum also.
I want you to be on the safe side with your phone mate, check your bootloader
This forum is for the endeavoru type phone, the AT&T forum is for the Evita type phone. Please check which one you have and direct yourself to the correct forum
