I'm pretty sure you need to enable root in settings somewhere. But I can't recall....I'm on 4.1.2. Try Googling it.

as far as i've seen all of the 4.3 roms are already rooted, you might need to go into setting and select the superuser, press the menu button and select settings, change the root to apps and abd, i've had to do that on a couple roms so far,
if the developer options aren't there go into "About Phone" at the bottom of the list in settings and press the build number a few times and the developer options should be available at that point
Flash this, worked for me http://download.chainfire.eu/351/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip
thank you much

JoeGrimm is correct. On cyanogenmod based 4.3 roms, root is not enabled by default. Go into about phone, tap the build number 5 or so times, or until it says developer options enabled, then go back to settings and enter the developer option area. Scroll down to "root access" and set it to apps and adb. Root should now work on all your apps.

I just rooted my girlfriend's Reef in about 2 mins. I haven't yet messed with roms or recoveries yet, however, that will be a project for tomorrow. It's a pretty simple procedure, make sure your phone is set to allow apps from unknown sources, Google "Framaroot 1.4.1" from your phone's browser, then download the apk. Also make sure that if you have anti-virus on your phone, clear the defaults, as the apk will not install if you have it set to autoscan before install. Click the download in the notification bar when it is done, then install with "package installer". When done, open the program, install with "Superuser" (which is the default option at the top). My phone rooted with the "Gandalf" exploit. Reboot your device. Verify that "Superuser" shows in the app drawer, I also verify root with "Root Checker" by joeykrim.

Awesome, thanks! Will give this a try soon. Any reason for not using the latest version of Framaroot?
No specific reason, you could try the latest version if you so desire, that is just the one that I used.

Finally got around to playing with this device. Rooted successfully with framaroot 1.9.2 same method as you described.
Got any optimization tips?

I have been trying a lot to find the stock recovery image but all the methods listed pretty much everywhere have failed. How did you manage to extract the recovery.img?
My Reef is rooted and I have spent more than a week trying to extract recovery.img but no luck

Hi All,
I'm trying very hard to search for the best method/option for rooting my Samsung GT-I9192 Duos(India Version) but not found any as yet.
Not sure if I have knox or not(is there is way to find out?) but I would prefer an option which does not void my warranty. Although if I have to, I don't mind foregoing the warranty. Also, I need only root - custom kernel, etc may not be required, Thanks
Can you please suggest the best and simplest method/option(preferably one click) to root my device having the following specs:
Model: GT-I9192
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I9192DDU1BML1
Kernel version: 3.4.0-1971249
[email protected] #1
Sat Dec 14 21:59:36 KST 2013
Build number: JDQ39.I9192DDU1BML1
Appreciate any help urgently, Thanks!!!
BS
well if you don't mind sending your info to some server in china [as some ppl claim] kngo root is your safest bet and you do have knox, you can always check it by going in download mode and see it if the word knox is there, which it will be in your case , btw after using kingo root you cannot boot into recovery you have to flash a custom recovery which will also trip your knox . or you might get lucky as me on the same build as you , rooted via kingo on I9192DDU1BML1 , deleted all Knox files [ search this forms for which files to delete] , flashed cwm recovery , flashed custom kernels, and still din't trigger knox only god knows why as i can't figure it out.
there are some other methods like saferoot , just do a search on this forums.
The BML1 has knox and saferoot does not work on BML1. Kingo works fine and I have rooted the BML1 on mine using Kingo

Some how Kingo refuses to work with my device. At first with Kies installed, it would connect to my device and get stuck at 0% on the "Downloading Device Driver Software Screen". I waited hours but it was still stuck at 0%.
After reading up on their support page, I downloaded and installed the drivers manually. But now Kingo wont connect to my device.
It does initiate a connection when I plug the cable/device in USB but after a few seconds, its back to the home screen saying "Device Not Connected".
I have tried the following drivers with/without Kies 3:
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1.5.24.0.exe
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.33.0.exe
What am I doing wrong? Hope there is another option/method if Kingo doesnt work out, Thanks again.

Did you turn on USB Debugging mode?
You have to first enable the Developer Options before you can access USB debugging
Setting>About Device>Tap on Build Number 7 times until the screen shows Developer Options is enabled

Hi... Yes, developer mode was turned on before starting the procedure.
What else could it be? Thanks
I have no clue. Do you have another Samsung phone to prove the setup on the computer? The Samsung drivers can recognize any Samsung phone if they have been installed properly.

Yes, I did root a Note 2 successfully with the same computer/setup but another/manual method(using Odin) with only Kies installed. I guess all required device drivers get installed when you install kies? This is the first time i'm using Kingo though.
Will this method work for my device? The only concern is I don't see I9192DDU1BML1 mentioned anywhere. Thanks

^ this method did work for me on the earlier firmware before BML1, but i lost my wifi so had to flash a custom kernel , dunno if it will work for ML1 as for usb try dialing *#0808# from your cell this would take you in usb settings, tick both mtp+adb , reboot , if they art already ticked uncheck them and check them again.
had the same issue with kies and s4 drivers this sorted it out .

Thanks a lot. Only MTP was checked, I checked the 2nd option MTP+ADB and rebooted the device. Hope this resolves the issue.
Unfortunately, I don't have sufficient privileges on this computer so will have to wait another 2 hours to verify it on my computer

I know you are already removed/hide your super su icon . But here is also some option
Just install super user elite and switch to ghost mode .
Install nova launcher latest version and hide app from the menu .
Thank you .

Yes I have already hidden the Supersu, thanks though for the alternative approach.
A couple of observations though, which may or may not be significant:
1) While installing SuperSu, there was a pop-up on the device which said something like "SuperSu has tried to make changes to your device and was blocked. It gave only 2 options I think (a) Block now or (b) Inform me again after 30 days. I chose option b.
2) I chose to block KNOX when it asked me as soon as I started SuperSu and It gave me a success message.
Now my question is - Will this 30 day counter give a prompt to block supersu again after 30 days?
If someone chooses Yes, then what will happen? Will the device become unrooted or apps needing root become dysfunctional?
I did block KNOX later so shouldn't all these notifications etc not come up anymore. Thanks!!

It is rooted. You just have to enable root access. Go to developer options and set root access to 'Apps & ADB'
If you do not have a developer options menu in Settings, go to 'About Device' and tap build number 7 - 10 times (until it says something like you are now a developer)
Have a great day @akumar94!

It should be in the top section of Developer Options (which is a menu inside the Settings page)
If not, flash the SuperSU zip. (http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu)
Hello, i have been using this great OS since 2014 with root, i remember that when i updated to 12, 12.1 i used to install the same S4MiniRootKit V2 and worked, but now it doesn't works with the CM 13 version, when i flash it with CM Recovery nothings happens, i don't get Root access (I had the lastest SuperSU version btw), so i decided to Factory Reset it and wait for comments from experienced/proffesional users, in advance thanks for your time! Have a good day
SEARCH BEFORE POSTING OR STARTING NEW THREADS.
Go to setting, Tap on Build number 7 times. That unlocks Developer Settings. Go back to main settings.
At the end of list choose Developer options. In the dev options choose Root access and select whatever you want.
For basic root access choose APPS ONLY. However you can also choose APPS+ADB. By default this option is disabled.
Once you set it to apps, all apps can access root 'su'.
When you flashed the ROM and GApps and you reboot your device, Recovery asks: "Fix root?" or something like this. Just select "No".

Hi,
I'm using LineageOS on my LG G3,
After upgrading from XenonHD-170504-Official-d855.zip to XenonHD-170522-Official-d855.zip my Root Access setting (in developer options) has gone and I don't have root access in any app any more. SuperSu generates this error:
Code:
"SU binary occupied"
Also downgrading to the previous Rom didn't solve the problem.
This method (called how-to-enable-root-in-lineage-os-using) doesn't work, and almost all other methods in XDA such as "KingoRoot", "LG One Click Root " and ... didn't work either..
Any solution would be appreciated.
Thanks
Wrong thread
@light-blue: if you flashed with wipe system, you always must flash su.zip to get su-access (since ROMs come unrooted). Use su2.79 for now, because 2.8x are buggy.

When I do it nothing happens .
It says that the zip successfully installed (or something like that), and when I boot into the system again I don't see any root access.
Try this...
STEP 1:
Go to Settings. Click on About phone and then Tap Seven times on the Build number.
STEP 2:
Now to enable ROOT access, open Developer options and then scroll a little bit down on the Developer Options settings and look for the Root access setting, which must be showing Disabled.
Just click on the Root access and set it to Apps and ADB or Apps only or ADB only, as per your need.

The problem is exactly here, The Root Access setting has gone from the developer option
Quite. I had the same issue as you though but a different phone but the above solved it for me. I also ran the su installer that was mentioned on the page you read.
Same issue on OnePlus 2 since last LOS update. I suspect is has to do with "su-hide" (see https://lineageos.org/Changelog-9/) but I have no idea how to fix it.
EDIT: The Developer option solution worked for me. I could have sworn I looked for it before posting. Sorry for the noise.
Try Magisk

So I have a P3100 but in my case the issue was solved by using Magisk. Download the latest zip and try flashing that. The thing is once you are all set up with the apk, go to the menu button within the app and then settings and then scroll down to 'Superuser Access' and simply click and choose the Apps and ADB option. Hope it solves your issue (Atleast it did in my case ).
I tried plenty of things but I can not regain root after flashing LineageOS.
I have tried every root flash on here and nothing worked. I don't understand the thread on here claiming to give you root on LineageOS as it's a load of crap. Really pissed off as I wanted to sell my D855 but now have to wait until someone can root...or just downgrade to LP or something with another ROM that doesn't wipe root on install...
Really unacceptable IMO for any ROM to remove root and not have a guaranteed way to regain it.
