Hey all,
Are there any apps or mods out there that would allow us to double tap the screen to wake it like the LG G2?
Thanks!
I've been looking for a mod like this also. If I come across anything I'll post the info in this thread. But from what I've been reading, it's kernel related and the devs are still waiting on source.

Wouldnt that keep your phone from being able to go on to deep sleep?

I dont think so. Its a widely loved feature for the g2.
Id llike something like this too.
Just figured it would have to keep power on your screen to read your taps. Why I asked.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
This is only possible with Snapdragon s800.
It keeps your digitizer on, yes, but that is not technically your screen. Keeping the digitizer on has relatively minimal impact on battery.
BTW this is in Vanir

OK so I know pie devices get relatively hot, but when just having my screen on and typing on here or using root explorer it goes up to some 90 degrees. And it just concerns me because my galaxy s2 hardly guys 90 even while playing intensive games.
I'm just curious if 90 is normal or if I should get a new device through warranty.
Thanks everyone.

When I was using SetCPU, I saw mine hovered between 80-90 most of the time. If it is bothering your hand, put a case on it. I use an Otterbox Defender and I can feel the heat through the case sometimes.

It's not bothering me as in terms of heating my hand, it bothers me in thinking my phone isn't going to last long at all -.-

In my experience this generally hapoens either after a new rom flash or just at random (seemingly). But it has always eventually calmed down and stays cool after that.
I suspect it is searching for mor something....like updating libraries of songs and whatnot. Seems like it occasionally gets stuck and when you add additional load it easilyy heats up. Try using Show CPU Use in dev options and keep an eye on the top few processes while it heats up. May give you an idea as to the real cause.

That's absolute genius. Thanks doc never even thought of that, I was using CPU spy but it was very hard to tell.

Cpu spy is great for its intended use, but quickly becomes limited in what it can tell you.
Don't praise too much too soon! It may not yeild any useful info! But it is a good option to try.

I hope you are talking about 90f and not 90c...because if your phone gets to 90c I don't know how it even operates.

after enabling what you had said, I couldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Surfaceflinger was the only one that was always up. But that's absolutely needed. I'm hoping it settles down after about a week.

Looks the same to me, try a factory reset.

If not that, try an app called Light Flow Lite - that has some LED settings you can change.

I'm bone stock and this is my second s3 in two days that the led looked dim after the update already tried a factory reset.

Mine is also dimmer than it was on ICS. After the OTA update I noticed it. Did factory reset with same results. Formatted everything and applied the rooted version through odin and still have them dimmed LED. Updated my brothers S3 and his is the exact same. I got a text message last night and the LED was fully illuminated, but after I opened it and received another message after it was dim again.
This needs to be fixed I'm very ocd about stuff and this is fine of em

Well it probably does, but it can't save much. LEDs barely use any power.

I always thought they needed more power? but they are more efficient as using this power?? I dont remember its been forever since ive studied electronics
Anywasy, on topic, i run CM10 and dont think its all that dim. Maybe they added an option inside the settings for brightness? I wish it had the "breathing" option instead of just flashiing. But check for a setting maybe?

Not really positive about details. I think they are more efficient. Whether they use more power I have no idea. I know our utilities company is offering to take old Christmas lights and they give you LED strands instead for free.

Single color LEDs are quite efficient. These multi-color, variable brightness LEDs are somewhat less so. That doesn't really matter the question at hand though because most of the power drain of LEDs is just having them on. The difference in power drain from a low intensity to a high intensity is marginal.
Does anyone else's sensor glow red? I tried to take a pic using the front cam and a mirror. The glow is very exaggerated in the pic.

just looked at it again and now its off. guess i'll have to start reading up on the unroot how to threads lol.
Yes mine glows red. Even when it wasn't rooted. There are a number of threads about it. Unrooting won't have any effect. I've just gotten used to it.
Well if he brings it in he should unroot it to avoid any conflicts. I pretty much wasted my trip to the sprint store when I went to resolve this issue last week and they simply told me that since I was rooted there was nothing they could do. I knew I could argue but I did not want to waste anymore of my time. I simply unrooted and bringing it back today to another store that doesnt treat their customers like they are idiots.

I'm pretty sure it's because you have the Motion Settings on. Like quick glance etc. That sensor reads what you are doing.

I've seen mine glow red a few times, rooted or unrooted. Frankly it doesn't affect anything so I never paid much mind to it.

Just wondering if keeping these lights on at all times wastes that much battery power.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
Like set the setting so it's on all the time while the screen is on? I really don't think it's that much of a power draw but of course there are those out there who want to sip every ounce out of the battery so they turn them off or set to 2 sec. I use the 6 sec setting myself and am extremely pleased with battery life of this phone

I noticed it does in fact suck a bit of battery (I know on the Note 2, sucked an unreasonable amount).
I just keep them off at all times and it has gave me about 5% more juice.

I decided to keep them off. That way I cannot blame them for battery drainage.

Have you tried resetting? If you have, does it still do it?
If so, maybe take it back and ask for an exchange. It shouldn't do what you're describing.

It has inadvertently turned off data use. Mine did the same thing. Flip it into airplane mode, flip it off. I hope the bugs I am finding get fixed along with signal and battery life.
I've unlocked mine and some icon's have randomly moved screens. Not sure whats up with that.
Also today on my drive home I got the wonderful Droid DNA faint ringing thing (Google it). I'm assuming it was a temp warning? as the phone was warm since I was using google maps, streaming pandora, and taking some pictures of the sights every once in a while, all while it was plugged into the car charger.
Annoying thing is it wasn't just out of the handset. the constant faint ringing goes through bluetooth audio also so my pandora and navigation CONSTANTLY has this stupid ringing going on.
I disabled fastboot and shut it down when I got on a road that I needed to stay one for 100+ miles to cool off, powered back on and didn't do as much at the same time (Switched to my iPad to stream pandora) and it seemed to work fine for the next 5 hours. still not doing it as of now.
Anyone have anymore info on that faint ringing?
Wondering if this is a bug or just not something the ONE is capable of.
Focusing well, especially in Macro Mode. My previous HTC phones focused as close as 2 or 3 inches. My ONE has to be at least 8+ to focus.
