[Q] Kernel for JB 4.2 custom ROMs with overclock - LG Optimus G (International)

Hi. As the title says. Is there a somehow stable Kernel for JB 4.2 based Roms (preferably CM based Roms) that has overclocking? I just want to try it. If there is, please post a link to it! Thanks!

No suggestions?

LGOG no need overclock.

I'm pretty sure there isn't, as of yet, a kernel that supports overclocking for any sense-based gingerbread ROMs. The source code for the sense-based gingerbread kernel wasn't released yet. Once it is the devs will crank out an overclocking kernel

As soon as I read this response I realized how stupid of a question that was. I knew they didn't release the source code thus there is no GB sense based kernel. Thanks for the answer

i just got a mod does it have overclock?

so are the overclocks the apps from the market? or is it on the rom? i downloaded the eg30 series
Overclocking isn't a mod its a kernel thing. You overclock your CPU using an app like no frills or setcpu. Usually stock kernels can't be overclocked but you can flash a custom kernel to overclock your CPU. Hope this helps

If the eg30 rom is aosp then any aosp kernel will work if its not an aosp rom then make sure you flash a kernel made for touchwiz or whatever overlay it has. I don't have this phone so I'm not should what type of rom it is but the above statement should work also tegrak will work to help you overclock

Sorry, lost my mind for a second... What was the question?
Edit: Oh yeah overclocking... Whatever rom you use should address this issue if you read... AOSP (we don't have that on the ET4G yet so I won't get into that yet)

Thank you. And if he would look at my signature he would have noticed that I do more than help the community. The reason I reacted that way is he's giving advice about a phone he doesn't use or just purchased. And the advice is wrong which is not good. Official At&t ICS

So I've been waiting for a while now to see of anyone is developing any new roms, custom kernels (oc/uv capable), tweaks or mods, etc. based on the official att ics/v20c with "optimus ui." From what I understand all of these things are possible now since the source code was released. The stock Rom is smooth, stable, blazing fast, and the optimus ui is awesome as well. I believe with the ability to overclock this Rom or a Rom based on it would make it the best thing out for our nitros, pushing quadrant scores over 4000 (currently maxes around 3700 in quadrant). Also gpu overclocking would be sick. So, this being said, is anyone working on any of this? Is any of it even possible? I would love to do it personally if someone could answer these questions and maybe point me in the right direction of where to start as I've never built my own Rom or kernel. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

U could try official miui port for P930 of navik, it's based on LU6200 fw, which is almost the same with our nitro. Mine has quadrant about 3500-3700

Sooo your saying the mui Rom is based off of LG' s official Rom? Does it use optimus ui? If so I would assume that means custom roms are possible...what about the kernel?

It's ICS version here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1898270 and lte not work, just 3G. Navik will update it as soon as miui release new update for LU6200. Current miui based on official ics for LU6200 (v163 kdz).

Custom kernel

Hello
Is there any custom kernel for the e986?
Hi,
I don't think there is a custom kernel. I'm new in l g forum and seems the community is small for the e986, let's see if this device catch attention from some great dev or not! Because LG don't release the sources for the kernel.
It's pitee because this is a great device!

I'm not sure about the hkfriends version but the G2V5 has a version for the F240x as well. You could always ask at either of theses kernels' thread about compatibility. Be warned though, the G2V5 kernel is optional and a lot of users have reported issues like battery drain etc.

Problems? Solutions!
Data connection problems:
Simple:
If you unlocked with Freegee, Hopefully you have an EFS backup that you can restore. Reboot when done.
Check bottom of post to get Freegee to work.
Technical:
Grab a stock ROM for your device
Make a recovery backup of your CM ROM.
Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache.
Flash the stock ROM
Update PRL, update profile, get a strong GPS lock (GPS status & toolbox app)
If data hasn't returned at this point then you have a corrupted EFS. Hopefully you've unlocked with freegee and have an EFS backup that you can restore.
Restore recovery backup of CM.
Crash loops after enabling ART: use Aroma Filemanager or TWRP filemanager or adb shell to delete '/data/property/persist.sys.dalvik.vm.lib'
then reboot
android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly: make backups of contacts, go to 'settings>apps>all>Contacts Storage' and clear data. reboot to recovery and wipe dalvik and cache.
Freegee saying device is detected as LG-gee and unsupported: edit /system/build.prop and change "ro.product.model=LG-gee" to your phone's model. Like the following example:
SPRINT EXAMPLE ONLY:
ro.product.model=LG-LS970

Sorry, but no modifications will be made outside of the kernel being used.
The goal is just to have vanilla CM11 with the gee base.
It sounds wrong, but seems so right. Haha, cool man.

Questions are good.
Gee - is based on the nexus4's latest kit Kat 4.4.2 sources and is also much more closer to a nexus 4 than an optimus g.
I find this base to be better performing; a very noticeable difference with 3D games and emulators such as FPSe and Mugen64AE.
Official-CM/gproj/ls970 - is based on nexus4's older jellybean 4.2 sources and is more like an optimus g than a nexus 4.
This base has IMO a better display color profile and lower frame latency with 2D apps.
You cannot use an official-CM/gproj/ls970 kernel on a gee based rom.

I have just a few more, I am sorry. So basically this is for Gee kernels and a slight better performance? Might try this out now. Is there any major bugs? And I know this varies from person to person, but is battery life on GEE based suppose to be better?

Correct.
The only bug I've run into is ART causing crash loops.
Battery life might depend on the kernel. Right now I build with xboxfanj's matr1x.
I plan on switching over to ThatKawaiiGuy's Franco kernel once the cpu governor bug is fixed and tested.

Even though this is plain ol' vanilla CM11, the conversion to Gee sources has made this ROM GODLIKE. I don't know if its a combination of Gee sources + the aosp kernels we have, but this runs so much better than the gproj version. Kinda almost makes me wish official CM11 would be converted to Gee, but I know we have some folks whose phones hates Gee ROMs, haha.

After flashing this rom, I will say it is A LOT more responsive! Loving it. Only bug I see is in camera, the image in portrait is very skinny and in landscape the image is very stretched out. But I am on 4/03 and it could just be a cyanogenmod issue. Just thought I would address it. The laggyness cm11 gave me (not so much lag, it just felt like my phone wasn't responding as fast as it would on stock) made me keep going back to stock. Now that this version is out, it runs much better. Thank you mike.
Edit: Correction, the picture comes out correct when you snap it. It is just the camera app that looks wonky, but the picture comes out fine. A work around for the non stretched preview is change the MP to 12.8 instead of 13
