Yeh tat didn't help..

as suggested in another forum, i disabled one of my usb root hubs in the device manager....it didnt give me that enumeration error and installed the driver but my pc only detects my phone in flash mode(even though i press the button for fastboot)...

It's a common problem with the fastboot drivers at the moment.
The really strange thing is that things still don't work properly if you have 8.1 with XP running in vmware.
Hopefully some smart cookie will work it out

try
i'll try this thanks

The same problem. I tried UpdateService and PCC , it still does't work!

Apparently something was changed in 8.1, making the current method useless.
For now, nothing can be done, you will just have to wait until a new solution is made or move back to Windows 8 or any previous OS.

There is no known solution at the moment. Just wait until a solution is found or return to older version of Windows.

Use another PC, which has earlier version of Windows. There are no fastboot drivers, which work with Windows 8.1, nor there is a solution to make the older ones work.

If you have usb 3.0 you can try it is working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46997772

I found this guide - http://www.droid-now.com/2013/10/fix-working-fastboot-drivers-windows-8-1-x64/
I have USB 3.0, but I don't use Intel-based stuff. Maybe if I update to 8.1, I might try. For now, up to you to test, if you are willing to.

windows 8

Hey, I've been away for over a month now, and i need to update to windows 8, does anyone know if flashtool and ADB drivers work with W8?
I want to keep trying roms, but i really need windows 8 installed also... I could make a partition, but it would be so much simpler if they work... Thanks

Flashtool works fine with win8. if you need to re-install drivers you'll need to turn off the driver signature check that win8 has or they won't install
Details here on what you need to do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913245&page=3 post at the top
to be honest , that was the one of reason that i downgraded to windows 7 !
i've disabled " driver signature" ... but some timed i had problem on fastboot mode

What exactly was the problem? Fastboot via adb or flashtool? Or both? I already upgraded to 8 but haven't tested anything, perharps this weekend when I get the time.

[Q] Windows 8 driver not working

OS: Windows 8 x64
Phone: Verizon DINC2 rooted with CM9
I rooted and flashed my phone on Windows 7 with no issues. Windows 8 will not recognize my phone. Device manager shows: Other devices->Android Phone with a warning symbol over it.
I've tried installing HTC sync
I tried installing Win7x64 drivers via this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232799 but I get an error message saying "Windows was unable to install your Android Phone"
I've tried using different USB ports (non 3.0) and different USB cables and still nothing. Could this be a ROM issue, I know CM7 is the only one officially supported for DINC2.
Has anyone else had any luck with Windows 8?

I installed the HTC 4.0 driver in compatibility mode, then in device manager added legacy hardware. Phone shows up as My HTC under Android USB Devices now, but I get error Code 10 device cannot start in device manager.
Bummer. I'm out of ideas until that driver is updated to win 8

In flashtool folder there should be a driver folder with all of the drivers use those drivers.
You may have a conflicting driver. (eg HTC and Sony drivers cross talk the same port)
You may have another software using a instance of adb, eg a sync software, use task manager to kill any that apply.
What's the adb error?

Yeah this has happened to me when I bought my phone. I did some very hard tinkering to get it to work - I think it was forcing the install with device manager.
Before we see anything else - make sure adb is updated to the recent version Also there may have been problems with android drivers if your running windows 8 and 8.1 - which version are you running?
You've said you get 2 autoplay dialogs: one for s and one for sl. Is this for just one phone? It seems like you may have installed s and sl drivers...
I'm currently not running a stock rom so I can't give you a framework-res.apk

To be honest, I've tried all of the troubleshooting tips... I dont the problem myself Wait and see for someone to reply if not go to the sony xperia support forums where they can help you a bit more as they're a bit more active than us in terms of helping. XDA is more of a developer forum where people develop and collabrate.
Apparently, there has been *some* issues with usb 3. Try usb 2 just for compatibilites sake. If not then continue reading
Also read this thread
And this could also help:
Quoted from the thread posted:
I've got an Xperia S and I'm using Windows 7 SP1 (x64). Had the same problem but this is what worked for me:
First of all disable USB debugging mode on your Xperia S. If your phone's connected to your pc/laptop disconnect it and then open CMD by typing 'cmd' in the start menu's search box. Then type this exactly as it is:
net localgroup Administrators "local service" /add
After this step, exit CMD. Now connect your phone and it should get detected by PCC and your computer :smileyhappy: Hope this helps!

If you know the device manager port then this should help
Quoted from microsoft kb support (kb 817900)
Method 3: Disable and re-enable the USB controller
Use Device Manager to disable and re-enable all the USB controllers. This lets the controllers recover the USB port from its unresponsive condition. The USB controllers represent the USB ports in Device Manager. If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, try the steps in the "Workaround" section.
To disable and re-enable the USB controllers, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
Note If you are running Windows Vista, click Start, and then use the Start Search box.
Type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. Device Manager opens.
Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Note You might have to scroll down the list to find this item.
Right-click the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click Uninstall to remove it.
Repeat step 4 for each USB controller that is listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.
Check the USB device to see whether it is working.
If the USB port recognizes the device and if you can use the device, you are finished.
If this method fixed the problem, you are finished. If this method did not fix the problem, go to the "Workaround" section.

I don't think, that there are any device drivers available.
You could try to install the HTC sync manager.
But I don't know, if it's compatible to xp.
You really should get rid of this operation system.
I hope you don't use this EOL system online.
It's just a huge security hole.
E.g the admin password could be reset, without much hassle and probably also on remote.
Install Ubuntu or windows 7 / 10

I'm well aware that Windows XP is not supported by Microsoft any longer.
but I've never felt the need to update it anyway and never crossed any problems.

Update: So after starting from scratch, following the guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-flashing-oos-v4-0-1-custom-rom-t3537757 I reinstalled 4.0.2 and everything working smooth as ever, surprisingly, laptop recognizes phone in fastboot and adb, but not MTP.

DM-verity is a non issue with MTP/fastboot/adb. It's usually related to the USB cable or port itself, or a driver issue (fastboot/adb or device).
When you connect and toggle the USB setting to MTP, toggle it to charge only then to MTP again. I've noticed in the past that it takes longer for the PC to recognize or it requires a second try.

Mate, i can't tell you what to do.
On my case, it was windows 10. How i know? I try co connect at work (windows 7) & it workt fine. Reinstal windows, all ok.
FIRST, i suggest to check on another PC. If it works, 100% it's youre windows.
Ok so this is what I did. I went to device manager > right click mtp > update driver software > browse my computer > let me pick > mtp USB device > happy me ??
