I scratched the display, is about 1 inch, not very visible and only when the phone is off.
Is there a solution to remove the small scratch ? Could i, maybe, in the future, to replace the screen display ?
Thank you
The ZL comes with a screen protector installed on it. Remove the screen protector and install a new one.

Did you scratched the surface of the glass or just the screen protector. Make sure.
Because all the latest Sony phones comes with the screen protector preinstalled.
I thought the phone comes with Dragontail, making it relatively scratch resistant?
Beautiful...
I just got a "Hand-me-down" Sony ZL (It is Great to have friends in the Business).
But there is a small 1" scratch in the top half of the screen. Not too bad when it is on but ugly when the screen is dark.
I only just now, after reading your posts, noticed that the screen already has a screen protector.
Is there anythign special needed to remove the old one?
I am jsut waiting for Amazon to deliver my new screen protecter than I will remove the old one and have a perfect phone.
Thanks for the heads up...

That's true. Some people say it is dragontail based on the Z screen... but I saw a test on youtube... this guy scratched the screen, then removed the protector... after that he tryied to scratch using knifes and keys but the screen was intact.

While it shouldn't be removed... unfortunately, it's REALLY easy to scratch that "protector"...
They do remove easily and you can replace it with a different screen protector, I'm unsure what removing it might do to your Warranty... (mine ended up rather scratched up, and I replaced it with a Skinomi protector instead...

I think it's better than the original protector... But I've used this style of screen protector on other phones before as well, and found them to be pretty good.
Based on what I saw with the screen and finger prints, you don't want to try and use this phone without any screen protector... that just ends up being a mess waiting for a place to happen...

so would you say getting the old one off is fairly easy? does it leave some sort of residue on the screen after removing?
thanks again for the info! mine has a couple of marks/scrapes on it that just annoy the heck out of me. love this phone if not for that.

The old one wasn't too hard to take off... and I don't remember it leaving too much residue... start at a corner, and be careful... I think I used a needle to help me get it started... but was trying to be careful so I wouldn't actually scratch things under neath while trying to get the other screen protector off... you will want to clean the screen before you put the new protector on though...

do you have a warranty, because if yes you could probably take it back to verizon (after unhacking it {if necessary}). if no, you will probably have to find a replacement screen (online would be your best bet) and pay someone to replace it (i would NOT try to replace it yourself because my friend went through about 4 psp 3k's trying to put in a replacement screen (after having the fluids leak out ) and breaking the connector because it was built at a really weird angle, almost as if it was intended only for a machine to replace it )
or another option (probably the cheapest) is to buy some of this stuff Displex screen scratch remover
I want tosee if the scratch remover actually a works, you can try that op and post back

Please tell me you all are not talking about that piece of plastic that came on the front of the screen LOL. Every cell phone I ever bought had that same piece of plastic. And to think mines fell off when I put the phone in my pocket the first day I had it...
I went to Rogers and they basically said that they doubt the screen could be repaired. They gave me some bullcrap story about if the repair is under 150 dollars they will do it [which i will have to pay for] but if it is over 150 dollars they will just send it back to me without it being repaired. So they basically told me that even if I was willing to pay whatever price to have it fixed or replaced, they still would not do it if it came up to over 150 dollars.

no it's not the thin little piece of plastic that is on all phones. i just did a google search and it's actually a crystal clear screen protector put on by a machine and if you look VERY closely at the edges of the top of your xplay you will notice a very small raised edge.
plus sony says that the screen is virtually scratch proof (meaning that the op most likely scratched the screen protector {and not the screen itself} and just needs to replace the screen protector)

It's not a screen protector, it's a shatter resistant film. But yeah, just take it off and your scratch will likely disappear.

To all my fellow HTC One X owners - are you using protection? LOL
I'm simply asking because I was wondering if anyone is going commando with the phone, and whether the screen has shown any scratches as a result? I know the phone is supposed to be sporting the all-powerful Gorilla Glass 2, but I don't trust it yet and so have put a screen protector on the front. This dulls the lustre of the screen a bit, so I am thinking of removing it.
How about yourselves? What has been your own personal choice?
you never know.
I got mine protected.
i saw a post about someone having scratches already. Then I viewed the crazy video of the gorilla glass2 scratch test performed by one *FINE* lady here in xda.
I decided to protect it then. the screen protector doesn't protect the whole screen though.
Edit: have to rephrase she's here now.

Heres the crazy lady - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590172
I used to have a screen protector on my sg2, then took it off after a year and it looked like a brand new phone, felt like i was missing out on the beautiful screen. I was going to get one for the one x, but I have extra insurance included in my phone contract against any kind of damage, accidental etc.. and it seems like it'll be hard to completely cover the glass, especially on the sides as I've seen on the forums that some people have had issues getting it to stay stuck.
I treat most things like they are a new born child when I first get them, then after a while, you get comfortable. I don't want to have this sexy looking phone and cover it with screen protectors and back covers - even if it did cost a lot of money.
one crazy lady here!
nah i'm not going to bother with a screen protector after my test i think....only thing i'm really concerned about is that camera lense. Would like to know what it's made of and how i can protect it (without sticking gel cases on the back etc)
It's funny that on these scratch tests the device never has any issues.
But reading on the forum some people do have scratches etc. just because they have keys and phone in same pocket... Makes you wonder, what kinda test did the scratchtester do with there HaitchTC One eX (Hahaha you crazy british people).

My right pocket on any kind of clothing is my dedicated phone pocket. I put nothing in there with it aside from my smooth leather wallet. If you put keys in there and other sharp stuff, then it's your own fault in my opinion! You don't throw your house keys at your television or computer do you? So why throw them on your pride and joy mobile phone! hehee

Gorilla Glass my ass...
After owning the phone for like 6 months, check the screen again, can garantee you, you will find some small sand scratches.
You'll probably end up with scratches due to sand particles that somehow end up in your pockets. Basically metal won't scratch the glass, but sand will. I won't bother with a screen protector, but I do expect to see at least a couple of microscratches at some point in the near future.
To be honest the first one is the only one that hurts. After that it's bearable.

I have the HTC branded screen protector on my Desire. It's been on since the day I got the phone around 18mths ago along with a case-mate Tough. The protector still looks like new, with one small scratch on it.
Having said that, I'm still on the fence about the One X screen. I'll probably go for another case-mate Tough as it has been worth the money on the Desire for the protection.

I didn't like the official screen protectors, stuck onto the piece of card with some adhesive, by the time i had pulled them off (as carefully as possible) it left a dint in my screen protectors, both ended up with a horrible air bubble where the adhesive had warped the film.
I might just get a nice case and stick with it.
I'm just waiting to see whether i'm keeping it or selling it, i've been appalled by the battery life so far, but the screen seems to be the culprit, at minimum brightness, the screen eats 1% of the battery for ever 5-10 minutes it is on, hopeless when you're playing games, anyone know any solution to this apart from never playing games on the phone?
Wat screen protectors do you guys use?
I have the official HTC ones on mine. but they dont wrap around the edges. Which causes it to sort of "meh". The problem is that the edges of (my) official screen protector dont connect with the screen.
So I am wondering if there are any other brands that do not have this problem and I can order on ebay/amazon or some other website (I live in belgium )
Hi
just need to know whether Arc S has a built in screen guard from the company or not !
cuz from the beginning m not using any protection as i see an edge around the corners that reflects the dual surface, which i believe is the original protector !
plz help as i want to put a guard now as i see sme minor scratches which are alarming !

Yep the phone comes with 'mineral-resistant screen'. However it is best to put another screen protector on it just to be on the safe side I have a mirrored one
thnx ! but if that mineral protector is somehow peeled off ! is it bad ? cuz i did that deliberately !

Really? At least on my phone I even did not try because it looks like almost as its fixed there and cant be peeled.
Mine as well didn't last long.. In just couple of days air bubbles started to breed between the screen and the protector! I had to take it off and apply a new one (you can buy in mobile shops)
A good tip is to make sure there's absolutely no dust on the screen before you start applying the protector
Stock protector is applied so precisely and is so sticky that it's almost impossible to "accidentally" remove it. So I don't know how did you manage to do that, really.
Also, can someone explain to me how is it possible for bubbles to start appearing under screen protector all by themselves, for no reason??? Some new laws of physics maybe, or...?
Has anyone noticed that xperia s has a shatter proof film like the one found in xperia z. my shatterproof film has got scratches with time so i am thinking of removing it.. Yes, I removed my film a long time ago, the only problem I have ever encounter in doing so is the screen becomes TOO sensitive. leading to ghost touches and little hiccups due to the over sensitivity. Luckily, just putting on a brand new screen protector made the phone perfectly fine, eliminating all forms of over sensitivity. hope this helps! :good::good:
ANY type screen protector will do for the XS, even the cheap ones on eBay!

Then the tints are most probably due to that screen protector. If you are really worried, then remove the protector and test. You can buy another protector, and apply it. Anyway, the pre supplied protect is not that good. You will be better off with a tempered glass one that covers the whole screen.

I see the same thing on my OnePlus 3 without a screen protector on, I don't believe that this could be considered a defect though..
It's called rainbow effect and common for AMOLED screens. Nothing wrong with your device.
