When you restore the backup, do full wipe before restoring? If not try again like this
- First flash boot.img from backup file as "fastboot flash boot boot.mg" then "fastboot erase cache"
- Go to recovery do full wipe then restore backup.
- Reboot

How do I erase my internal SD card?

My phone is all messed up. When I plug into USB the only folder I see is the Android folder, and then the data folder. I can't access any of my other folders unless I am using Astro. I am trying to format my SD card to see if I can fix this. I went into CMW and formatted the data, the cache and the system. STILL all my files are there, and I still can't get them through USB. What am I doing wrong??? I also reinstalled my ROM and I wiped data/factory reset...
I believe there is a "wipe local storage" option (or equivalent) under "advanced" in CWM.

Nope, I only have
Wipe Devlik Cache, Wipe Batt Stats, Partition SD card (maybe that?) and other unrelated things. It's not under mount/storage either
Relock and unlock the bootloader.. That should erase the sdcard
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem unlock
If that doesnt work, reflash to google stock images. Look into the guides available in this thread.
No need to relock/unlock.
Just use fastboot
Code:
fastboot erase userdata

Thanks! Is there a way to do it with plain adb instead of fastboot? in fastboot it keeps saying. "waiting for device"

Why don't you just format the drive in Windows? Seems like you're overcomplicating it.

In fastboot mode, go to device manager and update drivers. You need to install them twice to work

Formatting

Hi after upgrading to JB i am getting some issue with my phone. If i format my htc one x with gparted and then re-install the rom . Will it be ok to do that ?
I would be cautious doing that...
Better to factory reset and erase the sdcard from within your recovery (TWRP or CWM).

OK Thanks. But when erasing the sdcard (That is the built in sdcard) it will erase everything so will i still be able to connect as a drive so that i can copy the rom into it.

As long as the recovery is either the latest CWM or TWRP, you can mount the USB Storage and put ROM.zip on it. Not with a stock recovery.
And be sure to have CWM 5.8.4.0. The usb mounting doesn't work with earlier versions.
Sent from my HTC One X
Yep. It's fine to erase everything, as long as you have latest CWM or TWRP on there, you can still mount your phone and put a rom on there to flash
Good luck!

[Q] HTC One X SD completely wiped clean

Hello all,
I unlocked my phone and rooted it. I tried to instal miui ROM, succesful but my phone got stuck at the HTC intro screen. Eventually, nothing worked like whiping cache etc. So i completely recovered my phone from backup (clockwork) from before unlocking and rooting. NOTHING, it just kept hanging at the HTC intro screen. After that i could not find any solutions online and i completely formatted the SD out of despare
Now everything is gone, backup and folders on the SD, EVERYTHING.
I can still go to the HBOOT menu and Recovery menu. My computer does find HTC device.
Can anybody help??
hi
use this, will work 100 %
http ://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/installing-the-htc-one-x-required-s-on-steps.16592/
Enter the recovery and mount the sdcard as an usb mass storage device, copy the rom.zip to the phone and copy the boot.img file from inside the rom.zip to the fastboot folder on the pc. Then you put the phone in the bootloader and flash the boot.img file with fastboot commands, enter recovery and perform a full wipe (except sdcard ofcourse) ....wipe data, system, cache, dalvik cache !
Then install the rom.zip and reboot
If u can go to recovery, use mount usb storage to connect to pc and put your custom rom in sd. Unmount and put in bootloader and flash the boot.img first and then go to recovery again and flash your rom.

Did you try rebooting from within the recovery menu "reboot system"? If that doesn't help just reflash v5 again since you can access recovery.Good luck

Sometimes the recovery refuses to flash the ROM correctly so one needs to switch recovery so i'll link you up with philz 6.25.0 just flash that recovery using your existing twrp recovery and then "reboot recovery" from within the twrp menu now it will bring up your new philz recovery up. (place the zip file of philz touch in your sd card via card reader)
Go to this http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/n7100 scroll down and download 6.25.0 or 6.26.0 .zip file and follow the above steps. If you need help on how to wipe your phone using philz follow this guide below
Go to mounts and storage and click on format/system, format/cache, format/preload , format/data and format/data and data/media (/sdcard)<--- this will format your internal storage,so back up if you have anything saved on it..NOTE: Do NOT format storage/sdcard1 cause this is your external sd card if you accidentally do format it you will lose all the contents on your sd card.If you still want to format your external sd card by this way make sure you have a card reader handy to be able to transfer the downloaded ROM and other contents on your sd card.
Now go back to main menu and click on advanced menu and wipe dalvik cache ,once again go back to main menu and click on wipe cache partition and go ahead and wipe it.At the very end go back to main menu and click on wipe data/factory reset and choose Clean to install a New ROM.Done.You have successfully performed all the wipes. Now you can go ahead and flash the ROM.
Now once you have succesfully flashed your rom and it boots up and you set up your phone, you can always switch back to twrp ,Good luck
