a friend bought this from the US and it wont except any sim cards so i took it to a phone store and they have said that the phone does not have an IMEI?
can anyone answer this? if so how can i fix this?

Dial *#06# and check what msg pops up?
If it is null than its because of downgrading or wrong update
If its 00something than its a corrupt imei

You probably upgraded to a new firmware type of rom, then went back. This can cause the EFS(Root folder for some phone information) to be corrupted. Did you make backup(Which are most likely to be suggested in any rom thread found here)? That could solve your problem quick.

It's brand new never been used the problem is that someone bought it for me from the states, kinda hard to take it back... i also got an iphone but had no issues with that...
but, ill give that a go

Hi guys!!
Need your help. I have flashed rom after long time, just change was i have used note 2 toolkit for it and i don;t know what went wrong! now i m not getting registered to my home network.After doing research/ reading come know that my imei must have changed. So checked and my bad luck same thing happened .now NEW IMEI NUMBER is not matching with phone's sticker behind battery.
I think that is the issue causing me not able to connect network.
AM i correct?? if yes then how should i get my IMEI number?
If not then what is problem and how should i solve??
I gave all tries which i can doooooo whole afternoon and evening..but no success..
Please help me out....Thanks!

Thank you very much brother! I have tried this but no success! STill i have same corrupt IMEI and not able to connect to network. just emergency calls only. What is next step I am not sure now...................

did this issue resolved... Pls PM me i am also facing the same now..
To start off with, I'm a complete beginner on rooting/flashing and I didn't even cause the problem in the first place, but I may have a better understanding. So a friend was trying to downgrade his phone to 4.1.1 so it could be unlocked through the service menu. I'm not completely sure what files were used but it did downgrade to 4.1.1 but it now says no service and the IMEI says NULL. Please help!!
Also, it's not the "not registered to network" error I have seen mostly while i was trying to search.

First of all you post help in the wrong section.
It's against the law to change the IMEI so this fourm will not be able help you.

actually i dont wanna change it. i wanna restore it. i flashed a wrong zip and it got it messed up. cant recieve mobile network and imei says null

Well then, from what I know I the easiest way is through efs backup. I really hope you have made a full Rom backup if not I remember there was another method but it wasn't going to be easy. Hopefully someone here can guild you in that direction.

guaranteed there is someone in your city that changes imei, i know its illegal but a buddy of mine baught a stolen phone, and found out that the imei was blacklisted, the cops didnt do anything so he had to find another way out, online he found a person that changed it for him

Need help on my GT-N5100, actually after upgraded to 4.4.2 my note has error, and now it saw not registered to network, i try flash back to original firmware, and yet still "not registered to network", i also try flash custom rom, and still this error occur, how do i fix it? i do all possible way, uh, really need help here, im from malaysia.

I never face this issue myself but did you set Access Point Names in Settings?
Check IMEI and hopefully you have a backup of it.

my imei was different from old imei ( found at the back of my note 8.0). how do i change it back to original imei?
Without efs / imei bachup I think not possible.

Does this also happen with a different rom?
I can only think then that is could be a baseband/radio problem

yes it happens , i tried 3 different ROMs
and i tried to change my baseband but still the same problem !

Is your IMEI at the back of your phone the same as you see in the phone info?
If you have conflicting IMEI numbers, you may have a grey market phone..i.e. a network locked phone that was unlocked using an hacked ROM or other method

The problem is that it has been unlocked in a dogy way.
I never heard of the z3x box.
I have to go check it out and will be back later.
Looks like an interesting box.
But very dangerous if you don't know how to use it.
I see that z3x has a repair function for restore damaged imei to original only.

i don't know but imei under battery isn't the same with my phone info
