[Q] Wireless (Qi) Charging (and GPS) experiences? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Nothing is ever easy, is it?
I bought a pair of BRC 550's off of Amazon - one for my phone, one for the phone I intend to give my wife (which had to be sent back to the Ebay seller because the condition was misrepresented.)
I picked up a few Nokia DT-900's directly from AT&T. ($24.50 each, but then 25% off if you buy 3 accessories - great deal, even with tax.)
The Qi charging works great, although I can hear the high-frequency sound it gives off.....
But today I noticed Waze and Google Maps aren't getting a GPS lock. I first wondered if it was my fresh chilly CM10.2 (now with ringtone!) install. So I switched back to 10.1 and loaded up "GPS Status & Toolbox."
It has nothing to do with 4.3. Then I thought maybe I skooched something when I replaced my USB port earlier today. I popped the back off to start disassembly to check connections but before I got out the Torx driver, I thought to try to stock back. BAM! GPS lock.
Switched back to the Qi back. No lock. Tried the OTHER Qi back. No lock.
The "antenna" bits are a bit different in the Qi back vs. the stock back. I wonder if that's the issue. Does anybody know which one is for GPS?
I guess I should check for cell signal differences, too.
Grrr. Palm had this poop down years ago. Maybe I go back to trying to modify the stock back with a Palm coil, return the Qi backs and Ebay the DT-900s. Cheaper and cases will fit better than with the Qi back.
Anybody have any thoughts? Common or different experiences?

Never mind.
The style of the GPS antenna on the Qi back is different; it's a metallish strip pinned down across the center by a thing plastic strip. (I think.)
By flexing the wings up a bit, I now get signal. I guess they weren't quite touching the contact pads on the circuit board.

FOR SALE - XDA 2s (x2) + BT-338 Sirfstar III GPS + 1GB SD + Car kit

Due to an upgrade to a Kaiser, I have the following for sale:
TWO O2 Branded XDA IIs - One complete, one lacks stylus - Both are UNLOCKED.
One, my spare second one - the battery *may* be faulty. The reason I have two is that I had issues with it rebooting when i first got it, O2 sent a replacement and neglected to send a return bag . It ended up that it seemed to be the battery, so I used the original handset but the replacement battery, and I slung the replacement handset and original batt in a drawer. After rooting it out of the drawer (where it had lain for a couple of years) the battery seems to work fine and power was still over 84%. I will run it some to check. Maybe I was just being a noob or the backup battery hadn't charged.
Both handsets have some minor wear on the corners but otherwise are fine. No loose sliders etc. The rubber cap over the headphone socket on the main one is starting to split.
Also, there is a GlobalSat BT-338 SirfStar III Bluetooth GPS unit. I should have the wall charger lying around somewhere lol, I never used it though, I always used the car charger (Which I definately have and is included). A really great unit.
Also, there is a windscreen sucker mount for the XDA. Just a cheapo halfords one, but it fits perfectly and doesn't obstruct power or headphone sockets.
Also included is a retracting mini-sync cable - USB one end, custom XDA connector the other. Get a car lighter -> USB adapter (No! You can't have mine!) and leave that in your car, then you can use the mini sync you keep in your pocket with any PC or in your car to charge or transfer files.
Also included is a 1GB SD card. It is Integral branded card, it shows no speed but it seems to have enough bandwidth to play DivX off the card
Also included are two cradles - one for work, one for home
There should be two holsters, but I mislaid one the other day, I am sure it will turn up lol.
Would anyone be interested in the job lot? May split the 2nd phone off for a spares sale, but would rather sell the lot as one.
I can provide pics, I will need to bring the 2nd cradle from work, and see if I can find the missing holster / GPS wall charger first...
I live in the UK, but I suppose I would consider sending elswhere in europe. Would be unwilling to send to Nigeria even if were is for £10,000
Offers please
I think you will get your best deaL on on ebay here.
I suggest you list them separately
Might be interested in bidding on the spare one...

External Antenna

WANT!
Anyone know where I can get one for cheap.
Doesn't even have to be branded to work with it, as long as it does.
Oh and question, under the camera mirror, which antenna is that? I'm thinking wifi, but I have no idea xD
I sure do! I live in a remote area, so an external antenna comes in VERY handy. I bought mine from this guy - -> http://cgi.ebay.com/13dBi-External-...id=p4634.c0.m14&_trkparms=|301:1|293:1|294:30 .
The antenna works great, went from 2 bars to 4 sometimes 5. And everything is included (Antenna,Adapter Cable). Great shipping too. I got mine in 3 days.
You plug the adapter into the plug under the camera mirror. That is for the phone. Not sure, but I think that encompasses the WiFi as well. No experience with that, I don't have WiFi out here. I have it placed on my metal air conditioner because I think it needs a magnetic ground plane.
**Edit**
I used it when I went into town the other day. Placed the antenna on top of my car. Loaded up WiFiFoFum and got close to 50 WiFi Signals. Detached the antenna and had same amount, so not sure if the antenna helps with WiFi or not. I think if you are not within 300 ft. of a WiFi signal, you're not going to get it anyway.

[Q] Where Can I Find a WiFi Antenna Replacement?

When taking apart my Nexus 7 (2013) LTE tablet apart, I accidentally yanked on, what seems to be, the WiFi antenna, which pulled the wire out from the metal bracket. I've been trying to find a replacement but I cannot find it anywhere online. Ive tried WiFi Antenna replacements from Nexus 5 (got them from eBay), but the wire is too short, and it doesn't seem to latch on. I've attached some photos.
Has anyone had any luck on finding WiFi antenna replacements from which I could order from?
Found this website talking about the different types of coaxial wifi antennas:

Using the reference website above, I am thinking I need the Hirose U.FL
Ordered from
www.gridconnect.com

I received the cable today. Unfortunately it doesnt fit/match. There are two similar cables in tablet, so I tried transferring the working cable to the location that had the broken cable. This fixed my Wifi. I haven't seen anything go wrong by doing this. I guess that's enough for me.

Connection pins in the backcover

On the inside of the backcover there are 2 little copper pins. Can anyone tell me what they do? Or is this just a way to detect that the back is attached or maybe NFC or wireless charging?
AFAIK, the lower two pins are for NFC.
The remaining two upper pins are for wireless charging. (need compatible back covers)
I bought Verizon G4 yesterday at Best Buy, most importantly for the camera and removable battery, but also because of wireless charging, which I've been using for about a year on my Moto G.
I had to add the coil receiver to the Moto G, and it does a very good job of keeping the phone charged. It's slow, but I work at a desk at home all day, so the phone sits on the charging puck, and speed is not an essential requirement.
I was aware before buying the LG G4 that the back had to be swapped out for a "receiver" back, but I was dismayed to learn that there doesn't seem to be such a thing available, at least here in the U.S. The only charging device available is the circle device, and that's not what I want.
When I got the phone home, I pulled the receiver out of the Moto G and slapped it into the LG G4 and tried to charge the phone. I immediately got a note saying that charging had stopped, and the add-on receiver was incompatible with LG.
So much for that idea. Anybody have any thought on anything other than the circle case??

A few people on other xda threads are ordering some from aliexpress.com.

or

are a couple examples. I'm going to wait it out since I don't have a wireless charger anyways and see which one works the best with Verizon G4
Aliexpress has a supposedly compatible sticker that replace the NFC sticker on the battery cover
its also on Ebay

I pinged the link you gave, but it does not list my phone, which is a VS986. I'll have to be more clear on which contacts do, or do not line up with those on the phone.

The first link says Verizon on it. while it does not specify the VS986, it looks like it might work. That seller also has a video for their QI charging chip install.

Looks Good, I Found Similar On eBay

Thanks, Wooz, that looks like it will work on the VS986, but this outfit will not take PayPal, but requires a credit/debit card, and I didn't feel comfortable with anything other than PP, so I did not order from them.
I found a new listing on eBay, and ordered from that outfit, also of course in China.
I don't claim any expertise here, but it seems that the sticker needs to pick up the BOTTOM TWO contacts of the four shown to the right side of the battery. The one I purchased ($8.80, free shipping with PayPal) seems to do that. This outfit also claims its sticker contains a chip for NFC, which I've never used and don't feel is a major item just at the moment. However NFC might turn out to be helpful later, although I'm completely in the dark about its methodology.
The link I bought from is [email protected]
I'll add to this info after I receive the sticker and fumble it into the phone, although probably not as adroitly as the guy in the video.

AT&T warranty replacements with no wireless charging

I got a Qi sticker and some pucks from Amazon for my original G4, and the wireless charging worked fine. Then it bootlooped, so I got a replacement (they sent me a refurb or course) and on the new phone, wireless charging just refuses to work at all. I called back to complain about that and they sent me another refurb, and wireless charging isn't working on this one either. I haven't changed anything at all but the phone itself. They had me keep my back with the sticker still intact, and of course my same chargers. Anyone else have this issue? I guess I'll call them back again, I'm just tired of fighting with them for yet another refurb phone. The only thing I noticed is a weird clicking noise when I put the phone on the puck. I'm not sure if it did that before or not.
Are there wireless charging contacts on the phone main body? Some OEM versions don't have wireless charging.
If the contacts are there, you could try slipping some paper or electrical tape under the contact pad on the back to raise it a little bit to make better contact. If that does not work maybe the sticker needs to be repositioned to align the contacts. Look carefully at the contact pads on the back - you should be able to see where the metal phone contacts are pressing against it. Everything has to be positioned just right to get both charging and NFC to work...

Yes, they're there. They were there on the first phone and the 2 after. I've tried manipulating the Qi sticker, but the exact same sticker worked fine on the first phone, and then not at all on the next 2. I might try a new sticker, but it's just strange.

I've got a similar issue, but with mine, they changed the mainboard and returned it. Is yours a 602 serial # device or are the refurb units which they sent you 5xx? If 602, I'm curious if part of the "fix" involved completely removing the wireless charging capability. I even tried peeling off the Qi sticker and carefully positioning it over the contacts, then putting the cover back on, just in case maybe it was out of alignment - crazy thought since it worked fine before the bootloop/warranty issue. But that made no difference.

Mine's a 601 serial. I contacted LG directly and they just said "Oh that device doesn't do Qi you need to get the other one" but could never answer why the other one worked fine..
