Hi guys, ive been away from flasing roms for a while now so be gentle with me.
I just rooted and installed twrp on my gn2 and basically I just want to add note 3 capabilities to my note 2...just need links to the right threads and files i need if possible...
I know i need the leaked 4.3 firmware, but theres a lot of threads and to be honest its been so long that im a little confused. So any help would be really appreciated. Thanks guys!

Yup. I've had my note 2 almost since launch day and I had not rooted it, but as soon as I read about it I had to. Lol Pulled the trigger too fast though...hopefully we'll get it soon also!

I decided no roms this time around. I want everything to work. I will likely root to get rid of some bloat. Anyone else?

I agree, I'm only rooting to get my apps from titanium back, but other than that, I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with touchwiz JellyBean

I will say that this is one of the ONLY phones that I ever thought about NOT romming but I doubt I will be able to hold back if something really good comes out...Hello, I am Justin, I am a flashaholic!
GOTTA have root access though... Can't have any company telling me what I HAVE to keep on my phone! :good:
My exact same thoughts. I only rooted to get rid of the bloat. Quick question though. ... im a little nervous... would I still be able to update if tmobile decides to push one even though im rooted?

I hope not to also but when a new version of android comes out and no update from the carrier then flashing seems like the only option..
Cm10 with S pen functionality is that possible?
Should get rid of CarrierIQ at least =/
Paranoid is a must on this phone. Will likely wait until there is a stable release.

Deff agree on that one. But alas, i will miss alot of the OG functions from touchwiz on this phone. Although with GN1, they found work arounds for it. Especially S Note.
My plan is to root as late as I can to avoid messing things up. I figure we won't see an update for a few weeks and by then all the bugs that come along with rooting a phone should be worked out. I really enjoy this phone and can, surprisingly, wait on rooting.

I know when I rooted that if I go to check for a software update it says it won't do it on a modified device so I am pretty sure we won't get OTA's through the rooted devices but you can just wait for someone to post the updated OTA and flash that and your good to go!
Or do you still have stock recovery?
Only rooted for bloat and spyware removal and a nice kernel. But im only flashing stock TW based roms!

The only way I will install a custom rom on the note 2 is if they come out with Android 4.1.2 , 4.2, or Key Lime Pie.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I'll still get a custom ROM but only those based on stick for full s pen and camera usage. Can't give those up

Seriously I don't understand why would anyone want aosp roms on this baby when spen features and touchwiz is what makes this phone awesome. To each its own. I just dont want the term flashing hipster to give birth.

So no rooting at this point

Im either going to wait to root until after the ota for multi window function is sent out or ill root if a rom including it is released first.
Am I missing something or did this version of the phone come without the multitasking feature by holding the back button?

No. That just pulls up a list of the recently used apps. I'm taking about true multitasking with split screen windows.

Ah...multiview....not yet. Sprint has it...us...not yet
Same here, when I hold the back button on my ATT note 2 nothing happens. Anyone fix this?
Multiview should arrive as an OTA as it did for Sprint. No models shipped with it (not sure about the international model).

There isn't a mod available yet for our phone that will enable the multiview feature...they might have it for other note 2"s but i don't know if it's safe to try on the at&t version
Well here's the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961314
And I checked the zip and its nothing to damage the phone as long as you have a backup. Its just an app and a framework jar. And it works for the sprint so could possibly work. I don't have mine yet so I can't flash the zip but I would try it. If you have a good backup you can flash it and see if it works!
Personally, I think I will wait until we get a good working ROM going. I was browsing the s3 forums and noticed they had a port from the note 2 with unlimited multiview built in so I'm sure some talented dev will get it going for us soon. I must admit, this feature was one I was really looking forward to and one of the main reasons for upgrading. Was kind of shocked and disappointed when I got home and saw my nice new present to myself but MISSING FEATURES! Lol

Are you looking to flash a custom ROM? if so, some of them like Jedi have it built in already, and it's very close to stock. Also, AT&T now offers multi Window with their most recent update. Like poster above me said, definitely read some more.

I tried to update with the ota on my rooted stock. It became too much of a fight, so I went with cleanrom 3.5. Has everything, no need to wipe, no loss of apps or data, keeps me on stock kernel and tw. I recommend that route over banging your head against the wall.

I also went this route. Read up step by step or.youtube it, be sure to check your model version compatibility with the ROM you decide to go with. Good luck.

The description says that you have to have the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100, just wondering if it works for my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 T889. Im going to attempt to root my phone for the first time (or for ANY phone EVER for that matter) and would like to try this one out since it's the closest to the stock phone. Also, I seen alot of roms don't support the s-pen or true multitasking so this would help tremendously.

No it won't work for the T899. If you're looking for something close to stock, try Jedi Master which includes wifi-calling. If not having wifi-calling isn't a problem then I suggest Jedi X. Best way to find out what is best for you though it's to flash ROMs and try it out

I was just reading aRedmond pie article and saw their are roms in which you can get note 3 features and was wondering are we going to be able to get one anytime soon. Read the thread but only compatible with n7100. I would have loved to try it out.

Yes we will. As soon as we get a 4.3 leak that works for us. The n7100 had such a leak and that's why they have the features. By the way there are several threads on this already so you may want to search for them and follow them so you'll know what's happening and when we got our leak
