outler found an exploit use to unlock sboot specific to the verizon model...i dont think it applys to any other variation

ours is unlocked out of the box

Yes correct, but unfortunately Verizon is such an A$$ and locks the boot loaders on their devices:crying:

Can't we just get download and install the new update through kies instead of waiting for tmobile?

Yes for the S4, but tmobile is taking forever to release it. It's out for other companies though

Sprint just got it and theres some debate over whether it locks the bootloader. Hope thats not true. Some say it is, and others say it didnt lock it.

With knockz being part of the update I am betting it is locked boot loader and in root able kernel

Rogers s3 in Pakistan

Hello fellow xda members.. a friend of mine bought a Rogers s3 3 weeks ago.. initially upon inserting the Pakistani sim it didn't work.. but then he gave it to a local phone seller and he got the phone back rooted and the sim working.. my question is what has the retailer done to the phone by rooting the phone? Any root app that unlocked the phone? Can confirm that there is no root app installed accept superSU.. any help would be nice..

Root does nothing. He would have unlocked the sim to make it work on any carrier.

I knw the fact that root does nothing.. every android phone of mine is rooted.. the question is why did the phone come back with root superSU installed.. the sim worked after that

My friend does not have any unlock app in app drawer but only super super.. initially the phone was not rooted and sim was not working.. After the phone came back it was rooted and the sim was working.. the question was.. what has root got to do with unlocking the phone

I have simple mobile and it works just fine, not sure why it doesn't work for tmobile.?

Check the i9505 Development forum. There are a few there that all should work. Just flash and use; no need for a special kernel or anything. You will need GApps though.

What are the settings for the T-Mobile access network? I tried changing the name but my service and WiFi still goes slow.

I don't know right off-hand as I use Net10 Wireless. I do know that a simple search will bring up the T-Mobile APN's to use.

I know. The OP seems new to rooting so I was just making sure he wouldn't have any trouble with a different carriers ROM.
