[Q] Please Help - Soft brick? after flashing custom kernel - Sony Xperia ZL

Hello, I recently unlocked my Xperia ZL's bootloader and then proceeded to flashing the boot.img from PAC Rom, after turning phone on into recovery (purple LED) and seeing the PAC Rom splash screen, it goes a blank state... it's a black empty screen
Is it because I didn't flash a custom recovery prior to flashing the boot.img? I assumed the recovery was baked in. What do I do now? Please help
UPDATE:
After resetting it and trying to boot into recovery again, it worked. (However when plugged to my computer, it now thinks it's a C6503 (it's really a C6506) What's up with that?

Because the rom is based on 6503, everything would work fine. If u want to change the model number, just edit build.prop file in ur system folder

Thanks! How do I go about changing the build prop? I've never done that.

[Q] Arc Not Booting :( [RESOLVED]

OK, I Know I did a very stupid thing but I flashed the Nordik Version of the Official ICS Rom for Arc S on My Arc.
Now The problem is when it was flashing, the flash stopped at a certain point. Here is the message
14/002/2012 20:02:24 - INFO - Flashing userdata.sin
14/002/2012 20:02:24 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted

But then After I Rebooted, It showed the sony logo for a second and then some logo of the mobile with a caution symbol (Yellow Exclamatory Mark). And thats it, after a couple of seconds, it switched off.
I repeated the process and the same thing.
Scared Then I Flashed a Doom Kernel and did a factory reset. While the factory reset, it said that it could not open \data :|
i tried formating data many times but it could not mount it saying different file system.
So I flashed a matching Custom ROM and It does not work, Nether is any app installing nor any file getting saved
Please Help!
And Anyway to solve the /userdata filesystem problem?
If flashtool stopped then try re-downloading the file in case it was corrupt, and try to re-flash. If that's not successful download a stock 2.3.4. ftf and flash that.
FTF Wasnt corrupt :\
Now I Have tried flashing the 2.3.4 Android aswell BB 48
A Very old one which I downloaded around december time to root my Arc.
That doesnt even go past the SE Logo
The Custom ROM atleast booted.
My Guess is that the userdata partition has a different filesystem than the one it can read :\
Think it's to do with flashtool being unable to handle ICS data parameters. Binary has posted some type of workaround till he updates it.
Ok, Will check them out.
Thanks!
In his post?
think so, it's mentioned in the thread.
Nope
It stops while flashing the system.sin file
Anyway to solve the /userdata filesystem problem?
Not yet, apparently. I use cm9 so don't really know, though I think there's a cwm flashable ics stock.

No Use of that
Try connecting in fastboot, and use the erase or format commands, e.g. 'fastboot erase boot' or erase system, in case it's a system partition issue
Then try a kernel and rom.

OK, Apparently the problem was that I was using an old version of the flashtool (0.5.8)
I downloaded the latest 0.6.9.1 and followed the 3 step flasshing process
Enjoying ICS on my LT15i

Hi guys , Please help me as I have tried multiple kernels and roma all of them exhibit same issue,
Booting to CWM using the CWM inbuilt into the kernel takes a long time as well as once a rom is installed via CWM it completes installation and then comes to the boot screen and it sits at the boooting screena and does not get past it.
How are we gonna help if you don't state ROM and kernel and what exactly you did.

I have installed lupus v 16 kernel , with xperia ultimate hd rom and xperia blue rom both are having same issue.I can boot to cwm and install the rom but after you give reboot after the rom installation it just sits at the boot animation screen .
One thing I noticed is that booting to cwm takes almost a minute after turning on the phone , is this normal ?.

[Q] [HELP][Xperia S]Struck with many problems on my Xperia S while flashing CM10

Hi All,
First of all, Thanks to XDA and FreeXperia project. You guys are doing great.
Problem Description:
Initially my phone had a Genuine ICS 4.04 from Sony Xperia [build 6.1.A.2.55]. I heard about CM10 and Jelly Bean 4.1.2 for Xperia S and I wanted to try it out.
So, at first, for unlocking the bootloader, I followed a few procedures suggested in XDA forums about Xperia S and Youtube videos on how to root it and so, I was able to unlock it successfully.
Next while flashing(This is where I made a mistake) , I downloaded FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip from FreeXperia project site.
I pushed the FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip to sdcard.
I flashed boot.img, but the flash didnt succeed.
Later I figured out that I had to download FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip. The LT26i was a.k.a "nozomi".
I flashed boot.img now again which is from FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip, then I could see the FreeXpria Logo and purple light on top. I pressed vol up to enter recovery mode.
But, now the zip image in sdcard is FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip. So, I cannot flash that.
Is there anyway for me to copy the FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip file in my PC to a location in sdcard of phone so that I can point to it during the recovery mode or during fastboot mode, to take it and flash it ??
Is there anyway for me to completely redo the whole set of procedures, putting my phone to a sane state, fully working state with old 4.04 running on it ??
Later, adding to the list of risks, I tried the below command to flash all the contents in the FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip file after all the above procedures.
" fastboot flash system FXP202-cm-10-20130110-UNOFFICIAL-nozomi.zip "
I see that it succeeds in flashing too, but didnt boot up.
Help me to proceed now.

[Q] One V Won't boot/stuck in a boot loop

Hi! All my problems became today, when I decided to root that samsung ROM. I used evervolv (old version) I red the instructions and I flashed kernel and boot.img with the htc one V all-in-one toolkit. It said that: "boot.img flashed" I was like: nice, and continued, did full wipe, and wiped cache then I flashed ROM and update. I tried to boot, but it did not boot. After waiting for about an hour I decided to do something. I was able to get to fastboot, and I flashed boot.img manually trough adb and fastboot, did everything like before, and still no boot.
I decided to try some else rom, because I have SD- card reader in my laptop. I putted sphongle to SD- card and I was able to get to fastboot, flashed boot.img, and flashed ROM. Phone was not able to boot, and it just got stuck in a boot loop. I tried samsung again, and now I can only get to recovery or to the white HTC- screen, that has text about build being for developement purposes only. Does anyone have any ideas how-to get my phone back to life, or is it totaly dead? Answes appreciated =)

Are you flashing correct kernel check that first.
sent from HOV
powered by sphongle 4.2.2
Hmm... I'm pretty sure that I flashed right kernel, but now I can't get to fasboot screen. Only to ClockWork mod recovery. When I boot device, and press vol. down, and power, it always goes to recovery, or if I start to press those buttons a bit later, it only goes to that white HTC screen with red text. =(
E: After a while phone turns screen off, vibrates, and makes the screen again, so some kind of boot loop i guess?
Use the computer, turn it on normally and type in adb reboot bootloader

Was able to get it into fastboot. I flashed kernel and boot.img, those that came with shpongle. Then I did all the wipes and flashed the ROM. Still nothing. Goes into that same screen, and loops there.

[Q] Phone bricked while trying to flash CyanogenMod

Hi! I just bricked my C6503 when I wiped cache+data and flashed a CM10 zip (this one: http://get.cm/get/jenkins/42533/cm-10.1.3-odin.zip). I had clockwork mod recovery installed by this script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251093 (I installed the CWM6-cray_Doze_v2.1-ENG.zip).
After rebooting it just wouldn't boot anything anymore. Just the blinking red lights if the phone was plugged to the wall charger and the blue light when I started the 'fastboot' mode by pressing power+up while connecting to the usb port of my computer.
I can send fastboot commands but I can't flash boot images (it just returns an error).
My phone bootloader is not unlocked (aka still locked). I tried unlocking it by the sony process but the code they supplied me (after I filled my IMEI, name and e-mail) just won't work.
PC companion has no options for fixing this and the EMMA (aka flashtool) complains my phone is not unlocked so it can't do anything. Please help me! I just want to get my stuff back how they were! (Using OnAndroid I have made a nandroid backup of both apps and system data which are stored in my SDCARD. I backed up the apps and data with titanium too).
Well, that's what I know about the problem right now... Do you guys have any solution for this?
If you want to flash AOSP based rom, u have to unlock ur bootloader because it need different kernel. Kernel can only be flashed with unlocked bootloader.
For ur issue, download ftf and flash using flashtool.

R800a stuck at Free Xperia Logo

I got the Xperia Play R800A's bootloader unlocked via fastboot, i also successfully flashed the boot.img via fastboot (so it says I did successfully) that came from cm-9.1.0-zeus.zip, afterwards, i executed fastboot -i 0xfce reboot, the device showed the freexperia logo and then it just disappeared with nothing else to happen..
I can tell the phone is still on when the screen goes blank, the blacklight is still on. the only course of action to get it to turn off is if i pull out the battery. if i try to press the volume key to get to recovery or simply do not press anything, it just continues to go to the blank screen with back light on.
I am not sure how to proceed forward from here. My goal was to: Unlock bootloader> flash Clockworkmod Recovery, Backup current rom and install Cyanogenmod 9.1.0, then root if necessary.
The Device came with a stock rom of 2.3.2
I didn't use cm9 a long time, but i know that some freexperia kernels use R (right shoulder) button to enter recovery.
If that doesn't work, you could flash stock firmware, but flash only kernel (untick all other stuff) to Be able to boot your phone into working state and without wipe.
You could also be creative: flash any doomlord kernel, boot to recovery with back button, make nand backup, flash cm9 rom from zip, power off and flash fxp kernel.

Thanks for the reply Bakisha, After some wonky steps, I eventually got it working last night. I flashed the latest Stock Rom FTF R800_4.0.2.A.0.79 and then got cm9 running. Thanks for the heads up with mix-matching kernels and roms will have to try that sometime soon.
