[Q] Android 4.4 KitKat on Galaxy Wonder (i8150) - Samsung Galaxy W I8150
Hello my friends, so im reading about the new version of android : KitKad, i found an information that older devices with 512 Mb of ram will get this firmware !!!! (( i hope isnt fake ) , so what do u guys think will the WONDER GET the Kitkat firmware ?
No. Samsung dropped support for our phone, so there's no way we'll ever get an official KitKat update.
As SGWUser said, we'll never get an official KitKat update.

I'm agree with you.. custom roms are not the same...they are BETTER!!!:victory: let's try!
One of the features of the 4.4 KitKat I've seen leaked was backwards compatibility, for us Galaxy W users this might mean we might get a best possible ROM for our phone which is up to date, no matter whether it's official or unofficial, Let's keep the hopes up!
Well for me stock roms made by samsung are unreplacmend, but however i belive that if the kitkat will be for older phones, why not being for our phone !!, I hope they wont go with kitkat on Galaxy Mini
I think not

there is two liquid smooth and aoip, well if we can count it as official, hehehe, the end is very close to our devices anyway, but still my hope kitkat will be last OS for my beloved galaxy w
officially samsung never provides good updates to most of its phones
thats horrible on their part, its like they dont have a software department that cares, just look how HTC keeps updating its phones
unofficially its a totally different matter
Our wait is over and Android 4.4 Kit Kat is finally released and there is a whole section about it supporting 512mb ram devices which might be great news for us.

[Q] Official Samsung galaxy w i8150 jellybean please
I've been trying to find official jellybean firmware for my samsung G w i8150 but it proved very difficult till i found this file: Android 4.1.2 XXAMH2.zip only problem is the host (hotfile) has been closed so please does anyone here have the update file or any other official firmware for sgw? (ICS or anything newer will do). i have tried many custom roms and they're nice but i feel like going back to an official frimware just not the boring aging gingerbread. thanks in advance
Latest official firmware for wonder is 2.3.6 jellybean, with value pack, which is an update to put some improvements and face unlock from ics, but it's still jb and Samsung won't update our w anymore. Here you can check for all official firmware http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I8150&pcode=0#firmware Inviato dal mio GT-N5110 utilizzando Tapatalk

Click to collapse Don't EVER flash an ICS+ ROM that claims it's an official Samsung update on your Galaxy W. The last official update, like chris096 said, was 2.3.6 Gingerbread. You'll most definitely brick your device. However, check around the Android Development section. There are some great ROMs around that look identical to Samsung's TouchWiz.
[Q] 4.3
Anybody can confirm that the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos getting 4.3 update? Official? I know that grand will not get 4.4 but maybe 4.3! So please confirm I researched a lot but can't find the result! Thanks in advance.

Click to collapse I don't think so Grand Duos Will get 4.3 update but we expect 4.4 update since KITKAT is very light OS and Grand duos can handle easily... and with 4.3 Performance might go worse because we saw it in 4.2...Hate that lagware firmware...!!!

Click to expand... Click to collapse Off course KitKat i lighter than any other versions of Android. But who knows Samsung won't make it crippled by loading their Touchwiz and Bloatwares. And there isn't any chance of official Kitkat.. We may get some updates in 4.2.2 or max 4.3. 4.4 is a distant dream. Why to have official KK. We have ROMs for grand Faster N feature packed with KK. Are we going to get Custom Development when Lollipop is released for the Tab S?
I know we will have to see what the future brings but, are there any developers willing to develop custom roms for us Tab S owners? I know CM12 is Available for the Non-LTE Variants, i am an LTE owner so, i dont have any sort of Lollipop on my T705, was just wondering, since Custom Development for T705 has stopped for a while (besides IronRom which is mainly a 805, and SkyHigh, which is my daily driver)

Lollipop was Officially released quite a few months ago, what hasnt been released is Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S Product Line. So my question was, if we are to expect custom development from the current developers for the Tab S when Samsung releases its base rom for the Tab S, since this is a no-so-popular device.

Click to collapse See, this was something I was afraid of hearing because wouldn't there be a difference between ported/built working vs official samsung bult that is fully functional? Not saying the other cm12 isn't functional, my insecurity says theres ought to be something between developing a working carbon copy and the real version.

Click to collapse What do you mean with the "real and carbon copy" versions? Samsung implements a framework on top of android called Touchwiz for their devices, it's more than just a skin, and the personalization takes time. Samsung decides which devices to be updated first based on the sales of the device or if it's a new device as a magnet for sales. CM(XX) is much closer to the The Stock Android Experience (AOSP), but since Samsung uses a closed code, and drivers, an implementation is never as perfect as an "Official" one. This is mainly due to the fact that CM implementations are more ports than direct implementations, but neither is a copy or the other, just two different approaches, and different outcomes.
I will still continue development of my SkyHigh kernels for LP TouchWiz based firmware. It's what I'll be using ..... unless I manage a miracle to scrounge the cash for the upcoming 8" Tab S2 Once firmware and LP kernel source is released, then I can start .
