Yeah I noticed hot spots do work. Shame they didn't put the icon in the pull Down two finger settings. I have to use the advanced wifi menu to enable.

System settings - Wi-Fi - Keep WiFi on during sleep - Never.
Or use tasker
Or use WiFi toggle

I pressed "install" for tasker and didn't realize it was a paid app, lol I'd rather not spend 6.50$ for a simple toggle, but thanks for the suggestion (s) XD

Oh it does tons more. It'll toggle if it senses you left the area. It will use whatever network you want in said area. It does a crap ton. But yeah its best to live it.

I like this, I only wish there were more delay times, but i'll try it and see whether I like the built in "wifi off when sleep" setting, thanks!

Hello everybody I just checked the recommended app (better wifi) but unfortunately there is no option just to turn off wifi automatically when not in range and that's what I'm looking for, any suggestion?

The settings in Better Wifi on/off do exactly that. Mine is set to only stay on with whitelisted SSID. There is an off if not connected, and many other settings. I think you missed some settings in the app.
Hello there. I'm one of those users Wii turns all GPS/location services off when I'm not using it, but when I want to use gps, I have to long press the gps toggle, click the 2 boxes, then go to Google settings, click location services, turn Wi-Fi on, all that good stuff. Is there any widget or app I could use to turn all this on and off at once? Thank you in advance for your answers friends.

Why shut it off if not using it? It's not doing anything or activating anyhow so just keep it on. That toggle doesn't do anything but tell apps whether or not GPS is available. So if you aren't seeing the icon in the status bar, no GPS is being used. So just leave it on. Mines on all the time.

But that won't cause wake locks and drain the battery? As sparsely as it's used, doesn't seem worth the drain possibility, but when I need it, it's needed immediately, and briefly. That's why I'm asking if what I'm requesting is even possible.

It will not drain your battery unless it's being used by some app or something. Other than that, it's not being used unless you see the icon in the status bar.

you could use llama or tasker to create an action so when you open maps or any other program, turn on gps...and when you exit that program it will automatically turn off gps

Yes, you have to get an app called Secure Settings. I use it for my maps. The only thing is, you have to agree with the location service when it pops up. I don't mind, it only takes an extra second. I also created a widget that toggles location services on and off for the times I need to quickly access it. I love Tasker, it's awesome! I find automated tasks for it to do all the time.

I went ahead and bought tasker, and it's overwhelming and very very complex, but I got what I was looking for! Anything else cool tasker can do?

Ok, after messing with it a few days, I can turn on and GPS when opening an app, but I cannot figure out how to toggle the location services in Google settings. Any suggestions?

I can't seem to find GPS shortcut for the pull-down menu after I did the KitKat update. Did they remove it or am I just blind and cannot find it?
Its called location. If you don't see that then scroll all the way to the right and click on edit and look for location. If its already checked then try toggling it off and back on
Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app
I just figured that out. I really liked having 1 click GPS on and off. Now its 3 clicks. Oh well I guess I'll get used to it.
How is it 3 clicks? Once its on your notification panel you just toggle on/off with one click
Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app
Doing that also turns off the cell and Wi-Fi location services. I was just looking for the quick GPS sensor toggle.
Yeah it depends if you want to keep it on a certain mode. Thus far using the battery saving mode has still given me accurate GPS location. I haven't tried using navigation with it though so not sure if that would work just as well or not.

Not quite but you can long press any of the notification panel icons to shortcut to the setting. ie, hold wifi icon and it jumps right to wifi setting......not what you're looking for and you probably know that already.....
Ok yeah i knew that...the m8 shows the wifi name when u pull down the notification panel which is what i was asking if the g4 could do
