[Q] How I can change my font on Android 4.2.2? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Hello everyone...
When I was in 4.1.2, I can change my font easily. I install apk font package and use it simple.
But on 4.2.2 I can't change it. I can select samsung default fonts only. When I install apk font package I can't change to it's fonts. I have an error like that: The font package unsupported on your device!
Any way for this issue? Can anyone help me?
My device is rooted
Thanks

Need not root to change font in this case. Just you download flipfonts apk from xda and install after that you can change the font style

If rooted try rom toolbox, there is a free and paid version in play store. It also has themes, splash screens, and of course fonts.

I'm starting to hate JB 4.2
I'm having the same problem. I tried to flip fonts but does not work. RomToolBox but neither worked (my phone is rooted). And to top it off, I tried to apply the "font.zip ubuntu" through CWM and it did not work. I do not know what else to try ...
Update:
Applying the zip via CWM it overwrites the "default font" BUT it is not automatically set. After reboot, you must select one other source, such as "Choco cooky" and then select the default font again, hence the source you made the flash appears.

iFont works if you're rooted. I've used it with a galaxy s4 and g flex.

I do not have any problems installing flip fonts on my Note 8 4.2.2
But for the people that do have problems.
Give this a try...download the flip fonts you like and copy them into.... system/app with root explorer and them from there try to install them see if that works for you.
Hoping this helps

Try this link:

You will need to download Metamorph - free on the market. That thread is old, but has a lot of fonts to choose from.
There are quite a few ways to change fonts since you are rooted (ADB push, root explorers, etc.) but this is the easiest.
Hope this helps!
You can also search for the free app on the market called font switcher something. Just search for "font switcher." It's the easiest I know of since it'll automatically download and apply fonts.

I tried custom font switcher and then my phone wouldn't boot you. I had to restore from a nand backup.

Probably you mean "Font Changer." I find it quite easy to install fonts with Font Changer. Just download the .ttf format of the font, copy it in the Font Changer folder, apply and reboot. The instructions are provided in the app interface.

I had that happen once but figured it was an error with installing busybox.

these dont change all the fonts from what i seen, I have tried fontomizer it downloaded the font and installed it, and applied from go launcher advanced menu. Somehow only go setting s changed but not the system settings and system font
Seemed like all the fonts changed for me with Metamorph. I used it to put the system font back in also on a ROM where the font was too small.
I tried font changer and interstingly..busybox cant access root... no idea why

This is the stock font just flash it.
I change my font after every rom flash back to Veggie Burger that I really like. After trying a couple of methods, this is the one that works for me.
I have 3 files saved to a folder on my sdcard labeled:
Clockopia.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
DroidSans.ttf
I copy these 3 files using Root Explorer and paste them in the /system/fonts folder and then reboot phone.
There are alot more .ttf files in this folder (not sure what they all do), but I have never had any problems with this method after flashing any rom (from EC05 to EH17).

I do it the same way, except I saved the font folder from an old version of bonsai rom to my sd card to copy back whenever I switch roms.
Custom font switcher does it too. Needs root and busy box.

Yes.
If you use Custom Font Switcher from the Market, you can always choose whatever you want, and go back to the old Stock Font whenever you want though, without the worries of what needs to be replaced using root explorer.

Galaxy S II Missing settings.apk

Hi guys, i am new to xda. I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S II with stock jelly bean 4.1.2 (***LSW firmware version). I accidentally deleted my settings application (i converted it to user app by using rom toolbox and it disappeared). have you look into your root folder then data/app to find setting.apk, or use titanium backup to convert back to system app
Yes, as i said in the first post i have no backup and the system/app folder doesn't contain any settings.apk. It disappeared completely. I also looked for it on the web but no one seems to have uploaded it online. This is the reason why I have posted here.
Please can anybody help me? I can't believe no one has got this phone here on xda..

If nobody can help you. Try it yourself. Download the firmware and find a way to extract the files. (can be done, cuz the phone can too)
Hi, I have linked the SecSettings.apk from stock 4.1.2 xxlsw.

Thank you very much! But i'm not missing "SecSettings.apk" i miss "Settings.apk". Don't you have one in your root folder?
There is no Settings.apk in any folders. Is your ROM definitely Stock Samsung 4.1.2?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I looked for SecSettings in my folder and i think i confused it with SecSettingsprovider..so maybe the settings app is just called secsettings (unlike many other phones) i'll try to install your apk!
I downloaded your application and it seems to be what I was looking for! But I can't install it in way! How do I install it?
Use a root explorer and copy it to /System/app and set permissions in the usual manner
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I moved the apk to system/app and set the permissions, then rebooted, but it seems that it doesn't work. I tried in many ways. I installed it from rom toolbox, from root explorer, from "system app installer", but despite every operation and installation gives me a succes message as response, nothing happens. There is the file in system app, but every attempt to open the settings fails with a force close and there is no icon in my app drawer.
Do you have the secsettings.odex in your /system/app?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No I don't have any SecSettings.odex, I only have apk, even after the reboot.
Copy both the SecSettings.apk from the previous link and the SecSettings.odex from this link, set permissions and reboot again.

It didn't work. I used every combination on this world for the permissions before rebooting (including rw-r--r-- and also rwxrwxrwx) but nothing happens, the app doesn't result to be installed. (I attached a screenshot of my file manager showing that the files actually are in the root folder)
Hmm.. I'm stumped then. I can only suggest you reflash your firmware
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I just read on google news that a new update is starting to roll out for the s2..do you think updating will solve the problem? Either by using OTA (if it still works without settings) or kies..

Rom ToolBox Pro

On my G2 I could use the RomToolbox to change the font, then select Roboto through settings and the New font would be set. Anyone know if this has a workaround on g3?
You can get the roboto for here. Don't know of a specific workaround for ROM toolbox though.

A word of caution on using Rom Toolbox for font changes on this phone: I tried to change the font on my phone to Roboto like you mentioned. I navigated to the system/fonts folder and applied the font using the app, but right away my phone rebooted and got stuck in the LG splash screen. There was no way to fix it without using Flashtool to restore it. I don't know why it happened but I'm wary of doing any font changes other than the stock options.
