To remove root,
1. Use triangle away (version 2.90 onwards i9082 is supported) to reset the binary counter to 0 (with caution, this can easily brick your phone, so please watch videos specially for GT-i9082 and read tutorials before using it)
2. Use SuperSU installed in your phone to perform a full unroot
3. Connect your phone to the computer
4. Use Odin to flash 4.1.2/4.2.2 official firmware for your region (INU in my case)
5. Boot into your phone, check all details in About Device option
6. Boot into download mode, check your Bin Counter (should be 0) and status should say Official
Then you can take it in under warranty :good:

No, you can root and unroot your phone the same way each time, as many times as you want to
Full unroot is there for when you want to take your phone back to Samsung service or just want to revert it back to as it was before
What if u had installed custom rom?

Always make a stock rooted backup whenever you root and you can revert back to stock in minutes without factory reset
This took me 2 hours to figure without losing apps or data. So hit the thanks if it helped

if you use TA under root, doesn't it force an auto reboot? How do you get the SU to do full unroot then?
Yes, once you do TA it reboots in a recovery and warns you tge resets counter. Does not factory reset just restarts and clears counter.
Under supersu if you scroll down to the bottom of options ut wilk say full unroot.
Id show a screenshot but I unrooted already. If you see it can you post a screenshot.

easiest way. once you run the TA app, it'll reboot, once you press 'vol up' to clear and when it's done (screen goes blank), pull the battery, go to DOWNLOAD mode, it'll be 0.
Does this also work on the Rogers version? It is the SGH-I317M.
Yes

Make sure all rooted apps are uninstalled then go to settings. If it says modified like mine then there is still a rooted app installed. Your picture is correct, shows everything stock.

Well that picture is stock out-of-the-box. I just want to make sure i can obtain that back whenever it is needed.
Post your device status as well mine said modified. Yours should be normal. Good info thanks.
And yes those steps are what you will follow to put back in factory settings. The device status must also be unmodified. In my pic its modified.

I thought the main reason to root was to install a different kernel?
I can root to flash to flash roms on top of stock kernal

One quick question. ..
Okay so if I DID make a stock rooted nandroid backup before I flashed custom rom and kernal and I wanted to just completely unroot and go back to stock everything, then all I would have to do is just flash back to the nandroid I made, then run triangle away, delete any root apps, then click unroot in SuperUser and I should be good to go if I have to take the phone in for warranty? And will it be in that exact order? Or should I just run triangle away then factory reset and flash official stock rom? Is that basically the same? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks

Triangle away is the app to reset the flash counter in samsung devices.no need to use triangle away for rooting.it will just reset the number of times you flashed the firmware to zero.

Yep.but if you want warranty you should reset the flash counter before going to service centre.that's how they see how many times you flashed firmware.

thanks a lot, and btw how do you install the twrp recovery ,?
Download goo from the market and install from menu button.
FYI..resetting counter doesnt revert your rooted phone back to stock. After running triangle away you still need to unroot using SuperSu then factory reset n stock recovery. If you skip unroot and factory reset steps it will show 0 count but status will show customized when you go to download mode.
I'm finding it difficult to simply find a tutorial to relock the bootloader for my sgh-i317. I've failed several times to update to 4.3 but read since my phone is rooted I need to relock/flash to stock and try again. I understand I can use Odin which I did to root but I'm new to this and don't know where to find the appropriate file so I can attempt to update via OTA. Any help is appreciated...

This will erase EVERYTHING on your phone so use kies to back up messages, pics, etc BEFORE you begin!!
Go to sammobile and dl the stock firmware then dl this.
Have $3 on your google play account for triangleaway.
Then follow these steps
1.flash the stock firmware with odin
2. flash chainfire autoroot and update supersu in the play store
3. purchase and install triangle away (pay for it and support these awesome developers, dont be that guy), run counter reset and reboot
4. in supersu unroot
5.boot into stock recovery and factory reset and wipe cache and delvik cache and reboot.
6. on you phone go to settings>about phone> software update and run the ota update.
That should do it as you have gone completely back to stock, reset your counter and have stock recovery. This is what i had to do to get the ota to 4.3 yesterday/
U can always grab the firmware from sammobile.com type ur model number and download it and use odin to flash

I rooted my SM-900T with Kingo and then installed TWRP and CM 11. Everything installed and is working fine. I just want to know that if I decide to unroot that I do it the proper way.
Kingo will unroot my device but what I don't know for sure is the order I am suppose to do things. I assume I am suppose to use Kingo to unroot my phone then install the STOCK ROM? I am just unsure about TWRP, will that go away when I unroot or do I have to remove that?
If someone can let me know the correct order to do it I would be appreciative.
Thanks
Once you unroot and install the stock Rom you will no longer have the custom recovery TWRP.

Once I unroot with Kingo how will I install the Stock Rom without custom recovery, just use the stock recovery?

Ok so if I just put my phone into download mode and use Odin to flash the Stock Unrooted ROM via PDA it will revert the phone back to "Stock", unrooted and back to normal.
Just to make sure, it does not matter that I used Kingo to root though right? As long as I do what I mentioned above the phone will revert back?
Thanks!
