The VZW Software stuff. Sorry, I should have been more specific. The stuff on the HTC One that looks like a CD ROM to computers.

I hate that! It happens with both Mac & PC. They act as if I have just inserted a CD along with the HTC One. Weird

Indeed! I want to delete this so bad? That and the stupid Wi-Fi notifications are my 2 pet peeves.

You have two options in how to remove this.
Option 1:
Set up ADB.
Connect your phone to the computer.
Reboot to recovery.
Type this:
Code:
adb shell mount /system
adb shell rm /system/etc/CDROM.ISO
adb shell umount /system
Option 2:
Get Root Explorer or a similar app which allows modifying system files.
Navigate to /system/etc.
Delete CDROM.ISO.
Option 2 doesn't always work for some people, but it did for me. That's how I've always handled it on my HTC phones.

To get the rom.zip (esprimg) run the ruu and open command prompt, click services, and right click on ARUWizard.exe and open file location, and move the file (rom.zip) to your desktop and rename it "esprimg.zip" and put it on the root of your sd, and flash in bootloader

Out of luck then. No computer. Ha. Oh well. Weird how I can root a phone and put so many completely different kinds of phones on it without a computer. But I can't do a little update for a phone without one.

1) force stop the browser process 2) Remove all permissions for /data/data/com.android.browser/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player/config.data

How to remove permission? Delete that conf file?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
Nope ...
If you a good file explorer, longpress that file and there should be an option to change permissions of it, otherwise use a terminal emulater and run 'chmod 000' on it.

Your file explorer is probably not set to display hidden files/folders
You can either fix that or just run the following in a terminal emulator
1. su
2.chmod 000 /data/data/com.android.browser/app_plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/.macromedia/Flash_Player/config.data
If it goes back to the normal prompt, you're all set; if it throws up an error, just double check you entered everything right.

Hi, I tried the command on the terminal and it returned me to the normal prompt after input without any error. However when I try to watch a video on dolphin browser hd, I still have the same audio and black screen with no video.

Oops, sorry ... you need to reboot afterwards for it to take effect.
Also, the Dolphin browser holds it in a different folder (not com.android.browser), so you'll have to dig around for that (I'm assuming it will be something like com.dolphin.browser)

You tried using adb to get a log?
Adb catlog > log.txt
I think that's right to echo the log to a text file.

haha my phone did that lol
i believe you can use lolcat too
If the above doesn't work then I suspect it may be an init.d script that removes logcat every boot up to save battery. Just maybe....

I just flashed CWM Recovery 6.0.2.5 onto my galaxy nexus. However, I really would like to delete some backups because the space is becoming much too scarce (10MB left!).
I tried to find a "clockworkmod" folder with the backups in my phone's storage space but nothing seems to be there. I have tried for a few weeks to do this and still cannot find any such folder with the backups. I have even tried showing hidden files in the windows explorer but to no avail.
Someone - please, please help! I couldn't do anything in the past few days with such low storage!
You need to use a root explorer and go to /data/media/

ADB is a remarkable tool to learn. You could have had this done by now if you knew how to use some simple ADB commands.
Do you have any specific commands to suggest?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
adb pull /data/media/clockworkmod /location/on/local/machine/where/i/want/my/crap/saved/to
adb shell
rm /data/media/clockworkmod/backups/nameofbackup
Thank you for that! I managed to quickly learn adb
The correct command is ...for future refernce a "rf -rt" to delte not rm
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
rm - Rf should work just fine
