Does anyone have a list of apps that are safe to remove/delete from the E980?? I have most of the bloat froze with titanium backup, but would rather delete them if it's safe to do so....

Is there some advantage of deleting over freezing apps other than getting more space?

If you encounter no problems during every day use than you can delete them but if you change your mind you will have to flash back your original rom.

I backed all my apps up with titanium backup first that way if deleting them has any adverse effects I can restore them...

I don't think doing that will give you more space. I tried deleting some bloatwares before back when I was using O4X, and the "system" still took up the same amount of space. My Titanium Backup is also PRO version.

When apps are frozen, they are supposed to be completely inactive. How can you get more free RAM then? They no longer run in background or cached in any way.

I'm not sure if there is an actual advantage of deleting vs freezing.
There is a definite advantage as far as my OCD Is concerned. Lol....

Too bad I'm not a shrink so I can't prescribe any medication for your OCD
In all seriousness though, is there a way to actually free up the system storage so that my usable internal storage can be bigger than what it is now? I have some apps in mind that I can remove.

the advantage of uninstalling Bloatware over freezing it is that you gain more space on your internal sd. even if it's not a drastic amount of space gained overall it adds up when doing clean up.

There is an advantage. Your OCD can serve you well, when put to good use. Freezing the app doesn't always remove the service it might bring with it. Those will quite often stay resident in memory, even when the item itself is frozen.
Examples would be NFC or Bluetooth. I don't ever use either, so I typically remove them both, but you have to make sure that you are online with your device and turn off NFC, because if you happen to remove them and are in Airplane mode, the default for NFC is to search for it, so it will FC like crazy.

Changing ROMs recommend that you wipe everything. Titanium back up is pretty good. Research it a bit because I don't know about app scores.

Once you reboot into your new system just install titanium backup, it automatically finds where you have backed up everything on your storage

Seems like it could be quite useful. What about data? Will it retain data for apps, or just the app itself? And do you have the choice to retain data for certain apps or not?
Maybe you could create two zip files, one for just apps and another for apps+data...

Well, and yes this backups data, 12 of my 39 applications that required uninstalling and redownloading.
Depends on the the tool though. MyBackup Root still works beautifully for all data restoring needs.
This was such a better option though. I was excited. I wish there was an option for no data :/

So, if I am understanding correctly what this app does, it will create a zip file of JUST your apps, and when flashed, will restore the backed up apps to /data/app
I use TB to backup my data, and HATE to restore any data for apps until AFTER I have fully tested the ROM with my apps and no data restores, so this would be awesome!
And yah, I know TB does this, but if this is a simple one click thing, would make it super easy for me, and the price couldn't be better

Very nice app and much needed.
So, I've used Titanium Backup to freeze a lot of stuff on my T999. One strange thing is Zynga Games always unfreezes itself after a reboot. I've tried to use the Android "Disable" feature as well, and same result. Upon reboot, it's back.
Anyone know why? And can I just delete this? So far I haven't deleted anything, as I'm still getting to know the GS3. I like to Freeze when possible, but it's just not working for Zynga Games.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Just delete it.
Thanks. While I'm on the subject of deletion, here's what I have frozen/disabled. Is any of this stuff pretty safe to delete? I'm only interested in deleting true junk, and not stuff I might find useful in the future.

Before you delete any apps, make sure you do a backup of it. Why? Future OTA update will fail if they detect missing apps if you're 100% stock. Just restore when you get OTA in the future.
Before I flashed cm 10.1 I had 4.1.1 stock root and I converted apps like chrome and swiftkey to system apps via titanium backup. It worked really well and reduced some lag/latency.
Would it help in cm10.1? I haven't noticed these two apps being unusually slow but since I use them most often maybe it could speed them up?
I tried converting both but chrome would just open and close and swiftkey would crash. Any advice?
Thank you

I haven't noticed any major difference in speed converting apps to system apps, but it can't hurt. After you converted, did you change the permissions to rw--r--r? If that doesn't work, I'd fix permissions in recovery.
Just for kicks you can wipe /cache and /dalvik as well.

Maybe due to old and mixed up data on the /data side?
Or could android give a higher priority to system apps?
If so, id like to know for sure as well. But those are the only 2 scenarios I can think of that could cause this...

Using a root explorer app, you can change permissions after it is moved. There are tons out there, but for example, I use ES file explorer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwyLDEsImNvbS5lc3Ryb25ncy5hbmRyb2lkLnBvcCJd).
You long press on the file, tap "more," then "preferences," then change permissions. Other apps are similar as well.

This is the only possibility. I'm still not going to believe it until I see some real evidence. Google Talk and Now used to be system apps. Never noticed a difference when I put them on /data. I prefer apps on /data. You don't lose them when you update your ROM.

yeah it says it's rw--r--r, still closes instantly as a system app . I'll figure out how to do it through recovery!
Not sure if this has been mentioned before but. One thing I have done is remove all the clutter and sweep it under the rug. I never realized how much useless crap I actually install. Could be 150 to 200 apps. Recently what I did was rely on titanium backup for app storage. Basicly all I do on a fresh install is restore the bare minimum. For example, only the apps on my home screen. Anything more than that is too much. All the rest of the crap I leave it in the closet and if I really do need it I can quickly install it in seconds with titanium. By only having 6 or 10 apps vs. 200 apps for some reason my battery last much longer. You will be surprised at how many of those apps never get instaled after a week or two.

Yes, this is the same idea. However not installing them from the get go leaves so much more space for the phone to do it's job. Just saying I noticed an improvement and it worth a try. With how many times we flash from one rom to another and then restore. You all got nothing to loose.

All of my 30 apps which is few amount are more less root related resource apps that actually come in handy on a phon3 like titanium...zedge..setcpu...cpuspy...xda
..wikipedia... and maybe a game or two.
People that have more than 50 apps probably never even use them.. the most widely used part of any phone is sms txt messaging even over phone calls... and then the camera
Every other one of the million apps on android are mostly corny and useless.
Im sure there are a wide number of kool and use full ones but really think about the average app u run across. Its likely dumb!

I think the goal is to improve battery life without ultimately sacrificing user experience.
Less apps does mean less things consuming ram and activating GPS, data etc which does consumes battery tho.
Every once in a while try just enabling power saver and closing apps when you don't need them.
