I have google searched and searched on here I cannot find an answer to my question. Should I turn on the advanced feature in lockout? Pros and cons please.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk 4
It's free with jump. I haven't noticed anything good or bad about it. Hasn't detected anything. Doesn't gripe about apks I've patched. We have 3 gigs of ram probably doesn't hurt. I'm in the anti male are scanners for android camp but until I flash a room without it I'm probably just going to leave it enabled. On the plus side if they update their signatures rapidly some of this bad **** that makes it to the market might get detected if your not a 0 day installer .
I certainly wouldn't pay the subscription price though. That's likely just free money for everyone in the collection chain.

I'm just leery about turning on the advanced setting. Doesn't this hurt me it I ever want to root, unlock, and run custom roms?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk 4
Naah. I'm rooted with twrp. Custom rom would likely remove it
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk 4
I turned the advanced feature on for now.
I'm not sure I will keep it. I'm not on T-Mobile jump and they will want me to pay after the trial. I sale my phones out right after a years use. I think I come a head this away. I get between $400 and $500 out of my phones.

i did not have to pay anything did i?
I am on Jump
I think with jump you get it free

When your not on jump I think they charge you monthly on your t-mobile. The first 30 days are a trial. You have to go online to lockout.com and cancel the premium. Which I'm thinking about doing.

Yeah but older versions had a box to uncheck, here there is no option. Thats scammy.

I've been using trillian on all my Android phones for several years and never had an issue. it worked fine before the update and now it won't sign in at all. just stays in the signing in window forever.already tried reinstalling. tried reinstalling and it doesn't fix anything. anyone else deal with this?
Try fixing permission or reflash rom
Are you rooted? What rom?

Wow trillian. That's a name I haven't heard in years. Didn't even know it was still out!
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I stopped using trillian, they wanted me to pay more money after I purchased it for full price a couple years ago which was supposed to encompass updates and upgrades for life. When out asked them about it they said while they appreciate my money, they feel that since they've added new stuff it was appropriate to ask for monthly payments to offset their development cycle.
IMO instant messenger for android works better imho.

That's odd I'm a pro user as well from the very start. I have a 4 diget number and have never been asked to pay anything beyond the 2 gen upgrade which was like 2004? Since then they have rolled out a ton of updates and never been asked to pay anything.

I didn't get a code, but they found me in their system. When I asked them about it after reading something about being grandfathered in, that's when they told me they felt the need to have me pay more.
Sorry for the rant, but when I pay for something because I was told it was lifetime, I expect it to be lifetime. Besides, open source is the way to go for me.

I have been asked by people as to WHY would you want to root your phone? Or the big question...what is rooting?
So this is what I tell them when one of these questions is asked.
Lets say you bought a brand new Mustang Gt. You paid for it and it belongs to you. But you notice that Ford has only certain options available to you and all the others are locked down. But this is YOUR car. But the PCM is locked down and your stuck with the options Ford wants you to have.
But...help is here. You find out that your PCM can be unlocked (rooted) so you can have access to your cars full potential.
Your brand new phone is just like the Mustang until you unlock its full potential.
So I ask you...root or not to root?
Sent from my Wicked T999
Definitely root for me, but its not for everyone
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
That is true. But once they see what rooting their phone does for them they would be very happy.
I rooted mine the day I bought it and have no intention of going stock.
Sent from my Wicked T999
For me it's not a huge deal since I don't play games on my phone so I don't really need the extra speed. I just like my phone feeling snappier when using the basic apps like texting. I'm also very minimalistic so it's nice to be able to get rid of the bloat

I also suggest you flash back to stock reset the counter and then jump. Follow ALL instructions for flashing back to stock. I can't tell you what to do but I highly recommend you go back to stock BEFORE you try to jump. Best wishes.
It take about 5 minutes to go totally back to stock. Why take a chance.
☞Sent from here☜
I would definitely flash it back to stock rom. I had to sent in my first S4 I ordered due to an issue and the online rep asked if I rooted the phone. So flash to stock just to be safe
Just was wondering. Somewhere I read the new International firmware trips your flash counter and traingle away doesnt reset it. And I've flashed just about everything out there lol. Not too worried about it as I think with jump you bring in your phone to the store and get the new phone At the same time

No after a one time wait of 6 months you can jump on that month and the month after that then you wait till the next year on the month you jumped then you can jump 2 times that year.

I did the "Jump" for both Wifey's phone and Mine.....
We didn't have to turn in the old devices. One would have gotten $250 "trade in" and the other $20.
We just kept the old phones for standby or whatever.
Besides, what if you don't like the one you got? If you turned them in, there is no returning o the one you had!
Just my 2¢

The guy who sold me the Note 3 was into custom ROMs. When I mentioned Knox efuse and trade in with Jump he said no one there would even know what to look for at trade in and that flashing should be fine. He said the same thing about warranty returns. The insurance company would just take back the device.
But...he did mention that trade ins with Jump would end up as refurb devices. So its possible that there might be someone along the repair service chain knows whats what.
I traded my note 2 in today, running tweaked rom and custom recovery. Still got $275 for it. A lot of the phones get wiped and reflashed without even being checked to see if they were tampered with

I couldn't believe they were offering so much for the Note 2. I almost dumped mine. I'm selling it to one of my employees already. Only 300, I wish I didn't commit, I would have sold it today, instead of waiting a month for my money.

Note 2's probably going to go on sale like the s3 did when s4 came out and s3' were selling like mad because the price drop so maybe they want to have refurb stock to offer in case demand gets high and they run out of new note 2's due to a sale on note 2' s

When processing a trade in the only things the computer asks is
Water damage
Does it turn on
Is the screen broken
Is their physical damage
They also gave me $275 for my Note 2. JediX19. They didn't care at all.
$275? I wish I wasn't such a nice guy sometimes. I ended up giving my mother in law my Note II.

I don't think the eFuse matters unless you're getting it warranty repaired by Samsung and even then, they may not bother to check if there's no custom ROM running. Most people don't know about it or even care. I sent a Droid4 to Moto for warranty repair and there is something similar (it may or may not be the same) that gets flipped when it's rooted. They didn't care and repaired the defect.
Just found this thread Googling for the same thing. I was told by the guy at the T-Mobile I went to that they don't care at the store when trading it in, but he's not sure what would happen when it got to wherever they send it and see it tripped.
Basically what happens is if it is tripped your rights to the extended warranty are revoked going forward. You won't be able to add the extended warranty or jump for 12 months plus you pay out of warranty fee.

Plain. And simple lol we don't care what you did with your Phone. I've also sent an s3 I. Under Warranty Last Year Without Using Triangle Away And There Were No Repercussions. Cost too much money and time to check every phone they just basically reflash and refurbish and send it back out

A little bird told me starting on the 28th JUMP will no longer have a 6 month (180 day) waiting period to upgrade! You will also be able to upgrade an UN-Limited number of times per year!
Also, the international calling plan will change for the better, allowing better rates for calling to cell phones. I'll update this when I learn more.

Trust me, I'm aware. But hey, to each their own!
The catch is you have to have paid 50% of your eip balance. It's actually worse than every 6 months. People already signed up for jump are granfathered in unless they stop and restart JUMP.

I would say the first part about the Jump program is true but not the 2nd. It would be a bad business model and money loser for T-Mobile to allow any and everyone to upgrade unlimited times a year. The only way I could see this happen is if they reward their customers who have been here through all the BS like me, Ive been with T-Mobile since 2003, but I doubt it.
Well you can keep your grandfathered features, but customers always have unrealistic expectations. Not saying that yours are. And I would read post #6 in this thread, it kinda helps explain how the changes work. I honestly prefer the original JUMP plan.
