Hi,
I hav a friend of mine with the XPeria Arc, it's on stock ROM. The latest.
When the battery ran out, the phone shutdown (normal...) but we can not charge it anymore.
It seems that when the battery is at 0%, the phone doesn't restart (unable with on button, neither on and volume up!)
The only solution I found was to remove the battery and charge it.
Any idea of what can be wrong?
Oh, I forgot, the phone restart when the battery is charged.
Which ROM/kernel? Any modifications? Checked battery connectors?
ROM 4.0.4 build 4.1.b.0.587
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Not rooted, it's stok.

Im new to this forum, and to flashing/rooting. yesterday i rooted and fashed my phone. One thing i have to say is that i dont really have any exprience in rooting/flashing..so when you want to explain something, explain it like you are explaining to a child.
Well, the problem is that, i calibrated the battery using battery calibrate app. The phone was working fine until i rebooted ten minutes after..now the battery was showing 0, and i started to charge my battery again..3 minutes after i discharged and now it was like 99% . Then i rebooted again, i got 0% battery AGAIN. so i plugged in the charger...and 2 minutes after discharged again..boom 99% again.
The concluison is , everytime i reboot my battery gets to 0, and i have to plug in the charger. when discharing, the battery gets to normal again. All this because of a calibration? Please help.
BTW: ITS JUST RANDOM REBOOTS.

1) the app shouldn't be the problem, uninstall the app, and restart the phones, it it persists, you can try to reflash the rom, make sure you do a full wipe, here's how - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBsiOzQZrcY
2) The random reboot could be due to either witch CM& version you have installed, or because it was not flashed properly, best bet is to reflash it.
If I helped, a thanks would hurt
Agree with above poster, did u check the MD5 before flashing and the CM7 forum thread for similar issues?. if unsure do a super wipe using the script from mike1986's ARHD Thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
scroll down to the links and download SuperWipe.
In recovery flash the superWipe then flash any rom.
When Flashing:
CHECK MD5 INTEGRITY OF THE ROM BEFORE FLASHING ^
DO NOT RESTORE ANY DATA OR APPS VIA TITANIUM OR MYBACKUP
MAKE SURE IN YOUR PREVIOUS ROM YOU UNTICK "BACKUP DATA AND SETTINGS" (or similar option) UNDER PRIVACY IN SETTINGS*
^ MD5 Checker tool http://download.cnet.com/MD5-Checker/3000-2092_4-10410639.html
When downloading a rom theres usually an MD5 Hash written next to the link, copy and paste this number in to the tool then browse to the rom file you have just downloaded.
*This does not affect the contacts or calendar sync.
As for calibration follow the guide here:

If its TL : DR for you (it was for me ), the summary of it is
1. get current widget app by RMDROIDER
2. place the widget on the home screen showing the mA (milli-amps) and set the update interval to every 60 seconds.
3. download the battery calibrator app by DAMO Software
4. charge the phone till the green light turns on and leave the charger plugged in
5. run the battery calibrator and click on "backup and remove batterystats.bin"
6. leave the charger in and Full Reboot (no HOT reboots).
7. Pay attention to the current widget, you can refresh it manually by tapping "update now" or wait until it shows 0mA
8. Unplug the charger when its at 0mA.
9. Use the phone as you do until its fully discharged, discharge it completely until it decides to turn itself off.
10. Charge the phone fully and use it as normal.
11. Say thanks in memnoc's thread.
Thats pretty much what you have to do.

is this a nightly or a stable version? if its a nightly try switching to stable then u can install current widget from market and place it on you home screen then fully charge your phone until the value becomes 0ma now try to calibrate if this still a problem try wiping everything ( data, cahe) then re-flash if still the same i think there is a problem when u rooted ur phone
so reflashed the Trinity 3.2 rom on my Acro S, and was surprised to see my phone not charging when connected to PC..here's what i noticed:
red led is on when connected [usually means it's charging, right?]
there's no up trend on the battery stats [it's flatlined, which i think means it's not using the battery power but using the USB power instead]
battery charging animation is there on offline charging through PC, but when i turn it on after 20 minutes or so, the battery level is the same
lockscreen says it's charging and show battery percentage but stays the same for another 20 minutes
so, i already tried changing roms to RootBox, thinking maybe it's kernel related, but its the same
this is also not my first time to reflash Trinity, i already reflashed maybe 3-4 times with no problems..
am i missing something when flashing?though i flashed it the same way i flashed before: wipe data, cache and dalvik; and never had problems till now, it's just confusing..can anybody help?
i borrowed a wall charger from a colleague that has an XneoL and it's charging right now, 1% to 14% in 15 minutes

I think there was this problem with 3.2 version itself.. Lots of users complained about FC's and different sorts of bugs.. May be this was one among them too.. U can try 3.4 or just flash the original ftf itself.. Or if u have had a CWM backup of your previous ROM, you can do that too.. You know, the best thing u can do to avoid these sorts of probs in future is to make a clean install or clean flash as they say.. Wipe everything, format system, data, cache and then flash the ROM..
i do wipe everything when i update a rom
and Trinity 3.4 for Acro S hasn't been released yet
thanks anyways
Sometimes my phone shuts down at 13%, sometimes at 11%, sometimes at 0%... wtf? I tried to remove battery stats but it didnt help. Also, if i try to boot into recovery afternit shuts down at 14-10%, it says in recovery that i have --% battery. What is the problem here? Btw, my rom is nikez ics rom.

Old battery. No other way to fix than changing it.
Sounds like old battery, wiping battery stays does nothing
You could try properly calibrating the battery, search 'Nexus One Battery Calibration' app or something similar. I believe you also have to switch to an aosp based rom e.g. oxygen temporarily to try it
I have installed this ROM (CARBON-KK-UNOFFICIAL_odin_build35.zip) then I installed lightning kernel stock .283 Version 5. The phone work fine for many hours, but it overheat, and the battery drain too fast. I put it to charge, I turned on my phone, so far so good, I made I video call and the phone overheat too much and turned off by itself. Now when I try to turned on it, the phone turned off automatic, I can connect it in Fastboot and Flashmode, I could install the stock ROM via flashtool, but the phone turn off after show the logo. I can flash a recovery and I can get in, and re-flash other roms but after the logo the phone turned off. What can I do? put it on the trash? :crying:

help someone the same thing happened with me was using the beta4 paranoid and did the flash of lightning to cm11 kernel and now my zl only works plugged into the charger .
already tried going to stock by flashtools have not solved the unlocked bootloader
someone help please
did anyone find a solution ??
thnx
Very interesting. I had also Carbon ROM and then installed lightning kernel and had the same issues as you mentioned. Phone reboots suddenly when using too much processor power for example navigation.
Then I was only able to use the phone when it was plugged in the charger. I thought it has nothing to do with the lightning kernel because many others have also the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zl/general/phone-starts-connected-to-charger-t2864009
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534327
And now you say it happened after flashing the lightning kernel, its weird.
Mine is being repaired right now. I managed to lock bootloader back and restore original firmware.
Hope it gets the defect parts replaced.
the problem where phone will only run while plugged into charger, seems almost certainly due to heat.
lightning kernel, when installed is set at overclocked values for cpu/gpu, which naturally will generate more heat.
5-10 minutes after installing lightning kernel, my phone will start randomly rebooting on its own even if i am doing nothing at all with it. also feels extremely warm to the touch.
so the first thing i do after installing lightning kernel is lower the cpu/gpu values to thier default settings. problem solved. i do not use the kernel for overclocking....only need it for the DT2W/S2W features, and a few other tweaks. works perfectly fine for my needs. :good:
keeping fingers crossed that i do not run into this issue :fingers-crossed:
Your battery is dead!
Replace it and works fine!!
Also happened to me.
For some reason when I am charging my phone the battery recharge level only reaches 94%. I am currently running stock with the bootloader locked, but previously I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp and various ROMs. Does anyone have any idea what would be creating this bug? Perhaps deleting battery stats would be the answer?
