What's up with battery? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sometimes my phone shuts down at 13%, sometimes at 11%, sometimes at 0%... wtf? I tried to remove battery stats but it didnt help. Also, if i try to boot into recovery afternit shuts down at 14-10%, it says in recovery that i have --% battery. What is the problem here? Btw, my rom is nikez ics rom.

Old battery. No other way to fix than changing it.

Sounds like old battery, wiping battery stays does nothing
You could try properly calibrating the battery, search 'Nexus One Battery Calibration' app or something similar. I believe you also have to switch to an aosp based rom e.g. oxygen temporarily to try it

[Q]Battery problem

hi guys,
I have this problems with my desire, like the phone green LED lights up but the batt stats shows thats its below 100% instead of fully charged.Sometime the battery have eg. 86% of batt left after quite and amount of usage(video) but when the charger was plug in, the green LED lights up straight away and the displayed batt life changes into fully charged.
Tried various calibrating method but the problem still persist. This only happens after i root and flashed a custom rom.
pardon my poor english.
any help????
Well if it happened after flashing custom rom, try flashing to another rom and recalibrate again. Try this if you already haven't forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755903 .
your phone has to be fully charged (switched off untill red light turns green)
then switch back on, but un-plug it from the charger before you flash a rom

[Q] Battery Drain

Okay. i have Calk's EL13 v2.5 rom and i have the Venum black and white minimal theme on it. Im losing 1% of battery every 2-4 mins. is there anything i can do to fix this? or is it normal?
You might want to try and calibrate the battery. There are several ways of doing this.
Since you're rooted, you can charge the phone to 100% and then boot into CWM recovery and wipe battery stats. Reboot your phone and use it normally and drain the battery all the way down until it powers off by itself. Then charge again to 100% and that should complete the calibration.
Alternate method is download Battery Calibration app in the market and follow the instructions on there. That will keep you from having to boot into CWM to wipe battery stats.
Hope that helps you.
Any difference b/w calibrating via CWM or Batter Calibration app?

Hi, I've been experiencing the same thing with the battery. Is there any difference between wiping battery stats in CWM and using the Battery Calibration app? Is one better than the other? Is there any advantage to using one method as opposed to the other? Thanks, much appreciated.

[CM7]after calibration, my battery gets to 0% everytime i reboot

Im new to this forum, and to flashing/rooting. yesterday i rooted and fashed my phone. One thing i have to say is that i dont really have any exprience in rooting/flashing..so when you want to explain something, explain it like you are explaining to a child.
Well, the problem is that, i calibrated the battery using battery calibrate app. The phone was working fine until i rebooted ten minutes after..now the battery was showing 0, and i started to charge my battery again..3 minutes after i discharged and now it was like 99% . Then i rebooted again, i got 0% battery AGAIN. so i plugged in the charger...and 2 minutes after discharged again..boom 99% again.
The concluison is , everytime i reboot my battery gets to 0, and i have to plug in the charger. when discharing, the battery gets to normal again. All this because of a calibration? Please help.
BTW: ITS JUST RANDOM REBOOTS.

1) the app shouldn't be the problem, uninstall the app, and restart the phones, it it persists, you can try to reflash the rom, make sure you do a full wipe, here's how - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBsiOzQZrcY
2) The random reboot could be due to either witch CM& version you have installed, or because it was not flashed properly, best bet is to reflash it.
If I helped, a thanks would hurt
Agree with above poster, did u check the MD5 before flashing and the CM7 forum thread for similar issues?. if unsure do a super wipe using the script from mike1986's ARHD Thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
scroll down to the links and download SuperWipe.
In recovery flash the superWipe then flash any rom.
When Flashing:
CHECK MD5 INTEGRITY OF THE ROM BEFORE FLASHING ^
DO NOT RESTORE ANY DATA OR APPS VIA TITANIUM OR MYBACKUP
MAKE SURE IN YOUR PREVIOUS ROM YOU UNTICK "BACKUP DATA AND SETTINGS" (or similar option) UNDER PRIVACY IN SETTINGS*
^ MD5 Checker tool http://download.cnet.com/MD5-Checker/3000-2092_4-10410639.html
When downloading a rom theres usually an MD5 Hash written next to the link, copy and paste this number in to the tool then browse to the rom file you have just downloaded.
*This does not affect the contacts or calendar sync.
As for calibration follow the guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16808932 by memnoc
If its TL : DR for you (it was for me ), the summary of it is
1. get current widget app by RMDROIDER
2. place the widget on the home screen showing the mA (milli-amps) and set the update interval to every 60 seconds.
3. download the battery calibrator app by DAMO Software
4. charge the phone till the green light turns on and leave the charger plugged in
5. run the battery calibrator and click on "backup and remove batterystats.bin"
6. leave the charger in and Full Reboot (no HOT reboots).
7. Pay attention to the current widget, you can refresh it manually by tapping "update now" or wait until it shows 0mA
8. Unplug the charger when its at 0mA.
9. Use the phone as you do until its fully discharged, discharge it completely until it decides to turn itself off.
10. Charge the phone fully and use it as normal.
11. Say thanks in memnoc's thread.
Thats pretty much what you have to do.

[Q][Urgent Please] LU 6200 Battery Discharging and Reboots

Hello
I have a question if anyone can help me what the problem is with my LG LU6200 handset
On the stock Rom once set is operational it runs smoothly charge and discharge as regular but after a week it automatically reboot and after reboot it not start and continuously rebooting saying use genuine battery. I remove the battery plugin the charger into the handset and put the battery after a minute it start in the charging mode showing the battery charging in off mode then I turn on the phone and it start working as normal until it reboot automatically or I turn off.
I use the custom rom for testing in the custom rom it run as normal but once I reboot the phone or turn off and turn on again it not reboot but start draining the battery even with charger plugged in the battery keep on discharging instead of charging and it come back to normal with same process by removing the battery plugin charger then insert the battery after a minute on the start of charging turn on the phone now it charging is increasing while charger is plugged in.
Now please someone help me what is the problem? ROM or the battery replacement or the phone become faulty ( That is unlikely because phone work as normal for weeks even if I not restart it or it automatically reboot)
Also when it happen my phone date go back to the last time it was booting in normal working state

I not tried the format battery state through recovery but I did try it by deleting the batterystat.bin from the system and reboot the phone so that the battery index is fresh and it not helped phone start the abnormal behaviour after any reboot. Format battery state in the recovery do the same thing I suppose deleting the batterystat.bin file from system but I try to do that with the recovery now as well
.Try to discharge the battery completely, play with game or video until your phone die then charge it until it completely full at 100% then leave it for a hour. Then test the battery life

Thanks, I already drained the battery and charged it back full many many times but battery life is not the problem my battery run 24 hours approx with medium use some calls couple of sms, facebook, Whatsapp and Wifi is on 24/7 and connected usually.
I tried the battery stats reset from the the recovery mentioned by abuulala there is some improvement now it is not rebooting after power up and charging as normal. Thanks abuulala for the tip, but still have the random shutdown and start again automatically sometime that stop only by removing the battery and inserting it again.

I did all those and currently using the Sphinx 4.1 rom posted by AMACreative working very good battery discharging problem is solved but this rom also force shutdown and keep on rebooting one time it happen that I am not sure why. my guess is when the ram get used alot with many apps running it shutdown by force but I am not sure yet it is sw creating the problem or hardware however after the wipes and coming to custom rom discharging problem while charger is plugged in is solved
