Just read on gizmag.com that it costs Samsung only $238 dollars to make the note 3. Selling it for $700 is a $462 profit per device. Of coarse a lot of that profit goes for advertising and research & development. Still, Sammy is making out like a fat rat

Yeah, because hardware costs are the only costs involved in business. I think are missing a few line items to effectively calculate profit.
I don't really give a rats behind the phone freaking rocks. I have used a crap load of phones and this by far blows all of them out of the water.

You're welcome Samsung. I visited Samsung HQ in Seocho and they've got nice bidets there. Money has to come from somewhere to pay for nice bathrooms.
Better be careful when you eat out, most stuff they serve you costs about a third of what they charge you.

Calculate in the overhead and price of labor before whining.
Does the OP mean the Note 3 has $238 worth of parts? Please link to the article you got this totally useless information from.

And as stated earlier, manufacturing costs, shipping, packaging, then the carriers get their profit or any other store...typical retail sales of any product should be about triple of the manufacturing costs...that is basic economics for everyone to make a profit.

Can I have $2 dollars?
so just to be clear, if we go into the store and use one of those payment kiosks we wont get the $2 charge right?
and to think you guys we're trying to make me feel bad about using 50gb/month.
A convenience fee is actually pretty common when paying bills online or over the phone, in my experience they've been closer to four dollars. That doesn't make it right by any stretch of the imagination though, frankly I'm surprised it has taken them this long.
Also misleading title is misleading as the linked article says they might enact a convenience fee.

Makes no sense why that's good. They're just asking to be occupied. Well, within the rules of course, to pay their bills in store. Occupy nonetheless.

Guys. No one cares because all of you are going to continue to pay your bills every month, whether you use one of the new options to not be incurred with the charge or you just eat the charge.
Auto bill pay for me since they started it. I never had a problem. Never understood why more people don't use that option.

It's common practice in the UK for companies to charge up to £5 for customers who choose not to set up a direct debit to pay their bill. I guess it's catching on in other parts of the world too

TBH I pay the fee because living in the UK, They will take as much as they see fit at random intervals as most Companies are either usless/thieving

Yup same. Many places charge a convenience fee if you don't auto pay or use an e-check. Colleges even do it but its a percentage...which blows. 3% sounds fine until you remember you're paying $4k a semester...$120 extra is not a small fee just because you don't autopay.

"FREE" causes a lot of issues with a lot of consumers, mostly with expectations. Plus, the "freebie hunter" crowds, the kind that will bring 50 coupons to the grocery checkout aisle and buy groupons to places that they already go to every week (and are cheap to begin with) are horrible customers.
Just adding the penny makes a world of difference.

Yes. You're entitled to return your device if you're not satisfied with it within a particular period.
Just make sure that they cancel your contract as well.
Amazon has been pretty nice with their return policy, I have returned items that doesn't have issues but I wasn't happy with. I just wrap up everything neatly as possible and usually get full refund minus shipping.
I know there are many people on contract, but for me I wouldn't even pay 1 cent and enter two years contracts. You have to pay double ETF if you need to change carrier, one to Amazon and one to the Carrier.
Early Termination Fee (ETF)
If I terminate this Agreement before the end of my Commitment, I will pay an ETF of up to $325 if purchasing certain specified Equipment (e.g., Smartphones) OR up to $150 for other Equipment for each tel. no. associated with my service as indicated in the Terms of Service.

But this is nowhere compared to RatShack.
Just a heads up, they've got a promotion cod new customers who are switching 3+ lines and are getting all smart phones. $400 off phones or towards accessories. Catch is, you have to port at least one number over from another carrier.
So, if you hot 3 gs3s, you'd end up paying only for one of them.
Might be old news, but is running through the 15th.
The discount is instant, at checkout.

That was before. Its no longer on backorder. We just got 20 in and their now in stock in every one of our locations. Also available through asurion and AE.
We went through this exact same issue with the s3 multiple times and as well with the iPhone 5. That phone is still on backorder through sprints insurance. Lg releases a popular device and it goes on backorder everyone freaks out and claims an eol which turned out to be a mistake (that is now fixed).

sold 4 today... 6 yesterday... got 12 more this afternoon just because we asked for more.. they are extremely easy to get ahold of now
edit: im also a tech. we have 4 out 7 at our store. and it still seems slow. we spend most our time selling phones than fixing them. sometimes its easier for us to push an upgrade, take the GP from that than to fix their phone lol. i love srm deals. though i have won some type of prize from nearly all of them including a free S3 and Evo LTE.

I love you t-mobile
YOU KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2NYT8uV_VQ
No zero down mean you don't need to pay for it now. So instead of making you have down payment right now they put that payment toward the monthly payment plan.
Say you want S4, instead of 150 down and 20x24 totaling 630, you pay 0 down and 25x24 total of 600. $30 saving. Not bad. .
But phone like HTC one, you'll be paying 0 down and 25x24 total 600 instead of 80 down (Web)and 20x24 total of 560 normally. Cost you $40 more.
Over all tmobile is being aggressive lately. .

That's annoying as hell.
I just talked to a Loyalty rep this afternoon to change plans and waive fees, who told me about this promotion. I asked him three separate times if the lack of down payment came back on the back end, by either increasing monthly payments or adding months, and every time he told me, No, it's $20 for 24 months.
I'm getting my Note II tomorrow, and I guess I'll see what happens with my next bill.

Also depends on which state you're in. I'm in California so I pay tax on the full retail price of the phone. Oregon I believe pays no tax. Just really all depends on the state

I switched from sprint a wk ago and went in this morning and was refunded $150 for one s4 and $150 bill credit for another. Also u have to b in the "A or B" credit bracket in order to qualify for the zero down. And for each line u open there is still a $50 charge for taxes. So 4 lines is $200 plus $10 per sim kit (new costomers).
I think thats about right.

Yes you do pay extra on the back end for it being no money down, but a lot of people do not want to pay a dime upfront so for them, this is good.
