I know this my own fault, but I just bought a nexus 7 about 2 weeks ago and I accidentally left it out in the rain and now it won't power up. Would it be worth it to send it in for repairs or just buy a new one? I'm not even sure what got ruined.
Thanks for any feedback

I got my first Nexus about a month ago. About 3 days ago the charging port kicked the bucket. I couldn't charge it at all. I called Verizon and got a warranty replacement. Cool. Came in about 5 hours ago. The very first thing I noticed upon powering up the replacement was that it had moderate/severe screen burn-ins. As well as random spots all over that don't match the color/tint of the rest of the screen.
So at this point I'm pretty much heated. My first nexus was a CPO (certified pre owned) as well. I got VZW to swap my Stratosphere for it.
Anyway... I figured I'd download a ROM to install until my next nexus comes in (#3) because I hate being on stock. I get a low battery warning so I plug it in. I notice IT'S DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS MY LAST ONE. Any little bit of pressure or movement of the charger causes my phone to lose connection and stop charging..... I tried my original charger. I tried my brothers Droid 3 charger and even the brand new charger I bought when my first nexus started having issues. None of them work! So I tried all of those chargers on my brothers and dads phone and they work fine!! No amount of movement disrupts charging on their phones at all with any of my cables. I tried every combo of charging cable/phone as well as using different power outlets on different breakers. I couldn't believe I got a phone out of the box with the exact same problem I'm trying to return my original one for. This is ridiculous!!!
"Sir, all of our certified pre owned devices pass a 100-point inspection" *cough*BS*cough* If you actually put this phone through a 100 point inspection then somebody needs to get fired because it should have failed the moment he looked at the screen. It's that obvious. Unless they don't inspect the screen - at least when it's on (which makes no sense to me).
So I was wondering if you guys had similar experiences? I knew I was sending my replacement I just opened up back - literally seconds after I powered it on.
Anyways now that my rant is over, how many times have you had to get your nexus replaced before you got a good one?
That sounds like bad luck pal. My own GNex is a GSM one I got a couple of weeks ago pre-owned and it is running fine. It does seem a bit of a lottery regarding the build quality. Does the LTE version tend to have more issues than the GSM?
I've had no problems with my GSM Galaxy Nexus.

I have no idea. Only ever been with Verizon. I just can't believe I tell them that my charge port died so they send me a replacement with a dead charge port. Plus a faulty screen. Double whammy lol. #3 is being over-nighted to me free of charge. I'll post back some more results about that one tomorrow. I wish I had a camera to take pictures of the screen of my replacement. I'd use my other nexus, but as I said I got it CPO which means I had to buy a battery seperate and only have 1.

Had my GSM Nexus for two months and haven't had any problems with it, but I've been worrying lately about mot USB port since so many is having problem with it.
Sprint Nexus since March, got a little burn in near the top of the screen, but haven't needed a replacement yet
No problems here. Received mine in January, bought one for the wife in June and all seems to be well.

No problems for me also.
none mine was great right off the bat
I had the charging port issues with an older nexus.take a small jewellers screw driver and gently pry the small wafer tab you see a hair away from the wall its close to, that will fix it just be very gentle and pull the battery first. I had the same issues until I did that.

I tried that. It worked only as a temporary setup for my first one. Every suggestion on this forum has been tried and failed for me, sadly.

Bought mine begining of July, had issues charging sent it in and came back two weeks later with new port. Strangely before the repair it would charge to 100% and I usually could get around 3.5-4 hrs of screen time and 16+ hours before needing to charge, now with the new port only goes to 92% and screen time 2.5 hrs and about 12 hours sometimes less, haven't changed my usage, really wonder if they borked my battery somehow during the repair. Mine was manufactured march 2012.
Verizon GNex since late April/early May, no issues here.
Once for a faulty charging port at the bottom of the phone

5 months or so Gnex GSM - no problems
Hey all,
Having some charging issue with my device that will likely necessitate a replacement device. I've been hesitant to make the move given the quality issues of CLNR with Verizon in the early months of the GNex existence.
For those who have recently received replacements, did you encounter much problem? It seemed like the issues were mainly related to the screen or reception issues. I had my Gnex since day 1 and never had any dropped calls or weak/fluctuating 4G signal. I'm hesitant to give it up!!
Thanks in advance!
I just got a replacement 2 weeks ago and mine has been great. No issues at all. But every device is different

Its probably the charger cable, battery the USB port is broke. I suffered similar issues with a CLN HTC incredible. Try switching batteries cables or adapters. If all else fails take it back
I had similar issues with my original galaxy nexus after owning it for 8 months. The replacement they shipped me the ear piece on it didn't work. Sent that one back and the one after it I've had for almost 4 months now with no problems. A lot of it is just random bad luck, if I was you I'd send the old one in and hopefully your luck will hold up.

It might be a good time for a refurb, considering VZW just retired the phone.. Is it possible the remaining Gnex stock was pulled for refurbs?
About two weeks ago I got mine replaced by verizon due to my phone having charging issues as well. I went into the store, didn't call before hand.
I had flashed back to stock before i went in. Told the girl there that it wasnt charging right and i have multiple batteries and they all do the same. she went to look up on some database if others were reporting similar issues (there were none). after giving her my phone number and 5 minutes later she said a replacement is on the way and to mail my old one back in the same box (shipping was paid for)
I was very pleased by how quick and painless it all was. She never touched or looked at my phone at all and asked hardly any questions. my phone also had a chip in the screen (about 2 cm at the bottom right, no cracks though)
the replacement phone had a sticker saying "like new" replacement but it was absolutely pristine. absolutely 100% perfect cosmetically and works great as ever (screen colors seemed better than my original one imo).
Thanks for the heads up. Went ahead with the replacement. Will wait and see.

Just realiezd there's a scratch on the screen of the device I'm sending back... Any advice on what to do? I don't wanna get burn... I heard that VZW can charge an arm and a leg for returns that have damage...

Nothing to worry about. Mine also had a chip in the bottom right corner (about 1/4 in long and 1/8 in high) as well as light scratches near the top of the screen. Luckily the chip did not develop a crack, but none-the-less, the lady at the VZW store didnt say anything of it even when i pointed it out, and my return was accepted with no charges incurred.
I'm having to replace the motherboard on my GT-i9250 Nexus. Where I've been looking is on eBay and craigslist, and haven't had any luck finding what I need- a Galaxy Nexus with a broken screen AND digitizer, and no other issues.
Is everyone with one holding out, thinking these aren't worth anything?
My phone has a burned out power management chip and a broken volume down key

I think you're better off buying a new or used phone.
Why wouldn't you if your phone is fried?
if you're set on it try to look for a damaged one that's being sold for parts.
you could probably salvage it from there.
The issue is there are very few damaged ones being sold or auctioned, in my searches.
I'm set on not paying the high price for another good phone when mine works fine 85% of the time.
It's fried only to the extent that it won't stop repeating the ā€¯battery low" message when down past 15% and won't back out of USB mode or car mode on its own.

I lost my flex cable approximately 6 months into owning my phone. I sent it out for warranty(it was black) and received a white one instead. At the time, I was really mad, but now I love it. My PLAY has been sitting brand new in the box ever since, but I do pull it out and play with it and charge the battery from time to time.
It was very disheartening to me that my phone broke so quickly. It's also part of the reason why I moved on to another phone, instead of using my PLAY as my daily driver.
Right now might be a good time to order the new Nexus 5, it's pretty much the Holy Grail of phones, and getting a Snapdragon 800 KitKat device with a 5" 1080p screen for $350 is insane. I have 2 getting delivered tomorrow hopefully.
No wonder its out of stock, with people buying 2 or even 3. I wanted one, but its all out of stock. Oh well ill guess ill have to wait.
And for OP, your probably unlucky as my flex cable hasnt broken once and ive dropped my phone a lot of times without a case. Or maybe im very lucky?

I'll tell you why it's out of stock: dumbasses buying them up to sell on Ebay for a higher price. It happened last year with the Nexus 4, and it's happening even worse now.
The 2 phones we ordered are mine and my girlfriends. I've done nothing wrong here. If you were going to buy one, you should have bought it on the day it was released like everyone else did. There was plenty on the first day.
i'm thinking of fixing it (again -__-) and just not sliding it at all and see if that'll wrk
cuz i dont mind ordering one from ebay there quite cheap but just that i'm in the
caribbean and with my skybox provider it takes ah while to reach here

Yeah lol I came after school, jumped on the computer and it was all sold out except for the white 16GB version. And your case is fine, but some people buy 2 or 3 for themselves.
My Nexus 5X went on the infamous bootloop about a month ago, tried all the "fixes" (heating, freezing, flashing), but no luck. Now it's completely dead. I think I fried the motherboard somehow, oh well.
How much is it worth now?
Let it sit in bootloop, my case it got super hot. Couldn't touch it. Call Google say it overheated on charger. I was issued a RMA 4 months out of warranty. I got a 32 actually bought a 16. Win win. The og price hold was rough for a week. 400$
