[Q] What will you do with your S-Off? (What Roms, Tweaks?) - Verizon HTC One (M7)

What rom is your first pick for your HTC One when the new exploit is released?

Viper.

That's a hard one as I am sure we will see a lot more devs come over once the exploit comes out. For me might try that Google play edition or whatever it's called lol
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk 4

Either CM10.2 or AOKP, I try to stay simple. Hopefully there'll be some sweet OC kernels available though.

I wish Viper's Sense 5 ROM was ready for the DNA. that's why my fiance uses.

Regarding tweaks, GMD Gesture control is my first order of business. Can't live without it.
Bonestock rom cause i like stock with volume wake tweak.

Anyone know whether you can use the ir blaster with an aosp rom?

I believe this is what I'll start with, http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=m7vzw , cause it's all I need... I can fork the kernel from here and have mokee up for you guys in a matter of hours, I had no idea the one was officially supported, that is amazing!!!
As for ir, it works on all cm based roms since a month ago, at least I know it works on my galaxy tab 2... But I feel like it was an all around ir fix... Were just gonna have to try it out

Most of the devs on this variant aren't including it. Some said they will (ie PAC man rom I believe) if the CM team bakes it into one of their latest builds.

I just want root, ad block, and a nice de-bloat for the stock Rom for now. But I'm kind of biased towards the team venom roms myself. Always had good luck with them and usually never had anything that needed tweaking that they haven't already done. I'd love to see the blu kuban rom make its way over here!

GPE for me to start, and maybe some AOSP type rom with lockring app shortcuts

Change my splash screen. Find out if we can get support for the Bootloader Customizer, and change my HBOOT text. I'm already unlocked, and the splash screen and HBOOT text are the only customizations really eluding me. I would love to have Team Venom's Viper ROM on here, but I don't need S-OFF for that, just the ROM. Supposedly they're already working on porting it over.

I'm looking for a dark-themed, debloated, Sense rom. Anyone know of one?

I have some bad news... It will not work on the Verizon one as it is missing a NFC hardware element that the sprint version of the ONE has. Something about encryption. Sorry I dont remember the specifics.

I've ported it to the AT&T S3 but haven't made a thread for it yet because I have one bug left in it, call audio doesn't work. I could port it to the Sprint S3 and upload it in this thread if anyone wants to test it. Call audio should be the only bug, well if there's any bugs in CM10 those will be present too.

well im personally using aokp right now. it takes care of a lot of the cm10 bugs and it has a few customizations that i really enjoy already baked in (i.e. center clock and circlemod battery). the main reason i want the paranoid android is the in depth ui changing. and with jellybean now having 3 different uis baked in id love to go through and tinker with all of that. i really want the 7inch notification bar ui and the tablet camera ui ( i love the option wheel look). but just like it was mentioned earlier, more roms is never a bad thing but the only way i see me giving up aokp is for some PA love lol
Yup it is pretty badass

Is It Me

Or Has The Development For This Phone Seriously Slowed Down?
The S4 came out. Many are working on both devices or more, 5 or so Roms just got updated I wouldn't see that as slowing down very much. This is also the time a lot of people get the used device to Dev on so many may come to our community as well. If you get "bored" you can try to build yourself or use att Roms also, so long as they don't have their updater-script device specific.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I think the above is true. It's just not shiny enough anymore. I still love it though!
Another aspect, from a development point of view is: why? Why develop for the S3? It's already over-saturated with (mostly) TW and AOSP ROMs. And one ROM is pretty much the same as the next. What I'm trying to say is, nobody is going to reinvent the wheel, because there is nothing wrong with the one we're using. If I'm being honest, we already have a ridiculously large selection of ROMs to choose from. There's not really anything to update.
Well over in sprint forum we have cnexus working on the sense five rom...i dont think its slowing to much
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
There is always a slow down between major Android releases as well. We will see a huge uptick once 4.2-based TW ROMs launch and even more when key lime pie launches.

This!!! And further more like aerowinder stated, there isn't much more that can be done. Almost all AOSP Roms have the same issues and will continue to for the most part, they all use the same overall base for the most part, if one has more "features" it is more prone to breaks, same goes for TouchWiz Roms. The more stuff messed with and customized the larger the chance for breaks. I think the forum is bloated as is but thats not a problem as it gives options.

I completely agree with this, I find roms that are closest to stock, AOSP or Touchwiz, to be the ones that are the most pleasant to use.
Not trying to bash all the hard core rom cooks out there who packs in features into their roms, it is just my preference. You guys are doing an excellent job.
I know how much work it takes to develop a piece of software, especially when working by yourself or a tiny team. And for free.

I'm watching Ubuntu development and its not progressed any further on the kernel level than the last kernel I posted - it's in Development if you want to try out the OS but nothing works. I have to wait for Ubuntu to update the kernel source... They're still using 4.1.2 source code which is what they launched with. They need to work on the kernel before it's going to be any use.
First release isn't until October so I don't think they are going to do much kernel development right now and instead they're going to focus on app development

Yeah I about lost my mind trying to keep up with some of those comments haha.
It looks like its the I9300 for sure though, we haven't even had one test build for US variants and it makes sense, especially with all the features of the S4 that Samsung is porting over. Like it or not, they are always going to update Exynos devices before Qualcomm, especially when it comes to the S3 because of the relatively large disparity between the performance of the two versions.

Technically GPE ROM is more a totally de-sensed Sense ROM than an actual AOSP ROM. It is still running HTC Framework I believe for things like the camera and in order to take advantage of the optimised sense drivers

taking requests for new 4.4 roms

Well we already have a few real nice 4.4 roms out already but there are more out there. I have just released beanstalk and mahdi and have baked 4.4 and chaos 4.4 in the works. I am wondering if anyone knows/wants a few others. While I can not promise I will get it going but I will look it over and let you know if I will take a shot at it.
If possible provide a link to a version that is already done so I dont have to hunt for it and others will be able to see what it will be like.

Well I dont do much with bluetooth besides nfc/beam (sends via bluetooth) which does work with this build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50904107. If you could try out the rest of the bluetooth features for me then I can work on an issues. Once I have it fixed on one rom then the fixes will be applied to all my builds.

and i am obviously not familiar with any kind of lg product or kernel or anything
i have a rooted note on a costume rom ( if you wanna know about my experience)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Its pretty easy to root the thing. Here is what i would do:
Root
Install twrp 2.7 recovery
make a backup so you have it exactly like it came out of the box other than root.
Then you have about 3 choices for roms
Mahdi-Rom 2.5 4.4
LRS G Pad][v1.2.0 4.2.2 +BOB kernel
CYANOGENMOD 11 LINARO/SABERMOD 4.4
Ive used all 3 and settled on LINARO/SABERMOD. It seemed the easiest to setup, didnt have a huge amount of stuff installed (i cant use/stand pie controls) and it was easy to setup for tap on/off.
what is the point in changing the rom?i mean the installed one has a problem?
other than that what apps do you suggest,or maybe a launcher!

No need for a custom rom, the stock one is fine. I would root it and maybe install a custom recovery, but that's completely optional, plus adding a custom recovery has the disadvantage that it complicates things when you want to do an OTA update.
Some people prefer an alternate launcher, e.g. Nova.
But really, you don't need to do anything but add some apps.

Hello..
First let me say, any standard stylus will do just fine.. I would pick one that is your Girlfriends Favorite Color.. :good:
Personally.. If I were in your position knowing what I know about "Stock ROM's" vs "What's Available" to give her tablet *A Touch*..
The only Custom ROM I would install for her is the Mahdi-ROM.. It's 100% Stable ( The Most Important Thing ) and it's very Fluid and Fast.
Other than that, I would leave it completely stock since the Official 4.4.2 KitKat Update will most likely arrive in the next 60 days.
