Or Has The Development For This Phone Seriously Slowed Down?
The S4 came out. Many are working on both devices or more, 5 or so Roms just got updated I wouldn't see that as slowing down very much. This is also the time a lot of people get the used device to Dev on so many may come to our community as well. If you get "bored" you can try to build yourself or use att Roms also, so long as they don't have their updater-script device specific.

I think the above is true. It's just not shiny enough anymore. I still love it though!
Another aspect, from a development point of view is: why? Why develop for the S3? It's already over-saturated with (mostly) TW and AOSP ROMs. And one ROM is pretty much the same as the next. What I'm trying to say is, nobody is going to reinvent the wheel, because there is nothing wrong with the one we're using. If I'm being honest, we already have a ridiculously large selection of ROMs to choose from. There's not really anything to update.
Well over in sprint forum we have cnexus working on the sense five rom...i dont think its slowing to much

There is always a slow down between major Android releases as well. We will see a huge uptick once 4.2-based TW ROMs launch and even more when key lime pie launches.

This!!! And further more like aerowinder stated, there isn't much more that can be done. Almost all AOSP Roms have the same issues and will continue to for the most part, they all use the same overall base for the most part, if one has more "features" it is more prone to breaks, same goes for TouchWiz Roms. The more stuff messed with and customized the larger the chance for breaks. I think the forum is bloated as is but thats not a problem as it gives options.

I completely agree with this, I find roms that are closest to stock, AOSP or Touchwiz, to be the ones that are the most pleasant to use.
Not trying to bash all the hard core rom cooks out there who packs in features into their roms, it is just my preference. You guys are doing an excellent job.
I know how much work it takes to develop a piece of software, especially when working by yourself or a tiny team. And for free.

I'm watching Ubuntu development and its not progressed any further on the kernel level than the last kernel I posted - it's in Development if you want to try out the OS but nothing works. I have to wait for Ubuntu to update the kernel source... They're still using 4.1.2 source code which is what they launched with. They need to work on the kernel before it's going to be any use.
First release isn't until October so I don't think they are going to do much kernel development right now and instead they're going to focus on app development

It is not possible to port international ROMs to the Us S3. Entirely different hardware. We will have to wait for an official 4.2.2 release or rely on AOKP, AOSP, CM, etc.

Yeah I about lost my mind trying to keep up with some of those comments haha.
It looks like its the I9300 for sure though, we haven't even had one test build for US variants and it makes sense, especially with all the features of the S4 that Samsung is porting over. Like it or not, they are always going to update Exynos devices before Qualcomm, especially when it comes to the S3 because of the relatively large disparity between the performance of the two versions.

Simple because our phones are not supposed to have ICS yet. The first ICS leak came FOR TMOBILE about 2 weeks ago until that time we were using AT&T so we now have a compatible version of ICS. The developers are great they made a OS from another phone work on ours, now that they have the correct structure for T-Mobile give them some time they have lives too ya know, Darkside has a good stable rom and constantly improving it. ICS is about 93% fully functional now on our phones, and remember roms cut much of the bloat out that we dont need, etc.otherwise buy a Nexus

Well, there is a cm10 work in progress for the n7100 right now. If that goes official, its not long for the other Note 2 variants. If Sammy follows throigh on their promise to release exynos code before years end, we'll see a lot of AOSP action in the next 6 months but its gonna take time.

I know for most the loss of s-pen defeats the purpose of the N2. But the 5.5 RGB, quadcore, would be great for something like CM10 just stock google 4.1.2 . Anyone else agree? Think it would ever happen?

Nope, cause if you're like me, you might care more about the larger screen than the S-Pen. I hardly use it at all, and I'm dying to have the option of using CM10. I really hope it'll happen!! There's a HUGE difference between the stock Samsung rom and AOSP, much more noticeable smoothness. Plus it just looks better imo; I can't stand Samsung's color scheme and design, it's quickly becoming a relic to me..

One of the nice things about rooting, is that you don't have to keep touchwiz.
Here's a nice tutorial I used to really make my device different while keeping the pen functionality.
Youtube Tutorial
I mean, I understand the idea behind AOSP, but a simple theme can be had without switching too much.
I'm guessing for you (and me fwiw), an AOSP +spen variant would be the best. Maybe you could isolate some of the more important pieces of stock sammy, and install them after AOSP.
Which is a good reason for wanting an AOSP.
I am finding swype with the s-pen almost better than two handed typing. Screen size aside, from a productivity standpoint, the s-pen > current AOSP anything.
I tried cm10 from the international version, it was cool. Of course I didn't have signal, but it everything was pretty fast.

Thats because of the radio interface layer needs to be decompiled and edited. The htc thunder bolt was the first lte phone and any rom other then stock would not have signal becsuse of said ril files. Of course by now someone figured out how to edit this ril files. I believe I can use the knowledge I learned from editing the TB's ril fil to get CM10 working here.

Though he was looking for testers for 4.0 release... only person to say if and when an update is coming out for sure is @clark44 himself.
Maybe someone else can pick up development for him and of course having permission to do so.
I for one would like to see and updated ROM with the latest releases because this is one of the few that is simple and clean with no theming.
Clark only supported the Sonic S3 for about 6 mos. He obviously was not in for the long haul. So more than likely his support for S4 is also gonna be short until another phone to his liking comes out. IMO cellphones popularity lifespans are about six months.
Is it really worth supporting some devs that disappear in 6 mos.?
I think he will still release something for the S3. I just saw on his twitter "I never forgot about FreeGS3 " but I'm not really sure what that could mean.
He's been very active in the S4 forums. I'd be shocked if FreeGS3 received an update. Not to worry though, there are other ROMs available that actually have good developer support, are as stable or better, and have many more features and options. What is the attraction to an updated FreeGS3 ROM? You can be quite certain it will have little to no support even if it ever surfaces.

Problem is not many devs have this phone at all. Unfortunately on similar less than popular phones it has taken nearly a year to have a few ROMs that are worthy of being a daily driver. Happens a lot when you deviate from mainstream. I'm only interested in mods and overclocked kernals or maybe if it were really great, stock based ROMs myself. CM 10.1 is good but with any device it takes forever to have a RC, most never do. Plus the loss of the lg ir remote app would eat at me and I love love the pop up texts.

Agreed The LG software isn't AWFUL, but I wanna go back to Cyanogenmod so badly! I wish I knew how to develop ROMs...
Guys...plz be patient. CM is in the works but there are still kinks to be worked out before it'll be released. The same guys working on it are the same that dev`d for the E970. So we are in good hands. Besides....the stock Optimus UI should be plenty good to hold us down for now.

Wait so it's official that there are people working on it? That's all I care about, I was worried everyone was kinda looking at each other expecting someone else to start working on it! As long as it's in the works, I'm fine waiting as long as it takes!
Maybe the European release end of July brings some more customers (some of it being developers?)
I'm checking for Roms, too. Once in a while.
