Hey guys,
Knowing that I'm a long time gs2 and nexus4/7 flasher, a friend of me just asked me whether i could make her xperia arc s faster. She's apparently on ICS and the phone is quite slow indeed. Factory resetting didn't help that much.
so my question is: is there a decent ROM for an xperia arc s which fulfills these requirements:
- stable
- faster than stock
- no/few potential dealbreakers (stuff that doesn't work opposed to stock)
- no bloatware, possibly close to stock android
Is there such a rom?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

You can just search the Android Development Forums here.
Since your friend is asking for something similar to AOSP, she can go for a CM ROM.
Can you recommend one from personal experience?

It's not allowed but in my experience i like racing bean its based on cm 10 jelly bean rom its very fast and pretty.ICS based rom is Ultimate HD the best if you ask me.Bit all other ROMs out there are almost good as these two but i think these two are popular.

I am currently using CM10.1 right now, although recommending or comparing ROM is not allowed.

The question is in the title. I don't know if any dev can port a stock jelly bean Rom from a other Sony device. Is there a chance that we can get a stock based jelly bean Rom?

No. Android device manufactures have agreement with google to support there products within 1 year prior to release date. After that 1 year they are no longer obligated to maintain or upgrade existing handsets. This decision alone promote self-efficiency which allows manufacturer to develop newer handsets without being held back to software or hardware limitations.

Simply put, NEVER
You can use Jellyzeus as a alternative , its stock android. I prefer it than stock sony look. Others opinions may differ though

I have jellyzeus.
I like the vanilla android look too but with stock based Roms it has better performance.
There are also themes to make it like vanilla android.

Hi members.
I searched a lot but could not find.
My gsm is still on purity 4.4 and I need the latest supported 4.2.1 purity kernel which is version 21.
Could anybody upload the kernel for me?
Thx.

Asked there but nobody helped me. Seems they are all focused on 4.2.2 kernels. Anyway I got v21. I asked at a German forum and a member uploaded the kernel for me.

I'm not all into this here and don't know what happened with all Trinity's threads. They are all closed just when 4.2 Rom for Xperia s was supposed to be released. Any Info?
Got answer. Delete this.

He said He's back soon. Can't wait 4.2 Rom. Hope this one and new kernel will bring our XperiaS to heaven and that this will be his true masterpiece so no one have any complaints.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if some of you had a chance to play with a few ROMs. I know we don't have a lot of ROMs to choose from right now but which one in your opinion is faster? I just installed CleanRom and it seems to working pretty good but how does it compare to StockyRom and MegaBlast ones? MegaBlast looks really quick in the video by qbm (bindroid). I dont know much about StockyRom. What are your thoughts?
This kind of thread is not very popular on xda... You should give every Rom a try if you want to and decide for yourself which one gives you the best performance

Make sure the rom is for your device... Not all of our devices are the same.

Yea I just realized that stockyrom is for p605 device. So far I tested clean rom and mega blast. Are there other ones? Too bad we can't try out roms for note 10.1 (2013)
Why don't you share your experiences with the roms you have already tried out?
Hello Guys,
in the last time I read a lot about the Sailfish OS developed by Jolla and running on the Jolla Phone and a few other devices including the Nokia N9 and the Galaxy Nexus.
Jolla said that it wants to publish its OS for android smartphones and I decided to open this thread to inform you about Sailfish and discuss it, so we can maybe build up an userbase and so become a part in the Sailfish development for android devices as soon as Jolla publishes its sources.
Jolla wrote that it shall be easy to install Sailfish on every android handset. I have no clue how that will work out and what effort one has to take to actually run it, but it seems as if Jolla wants the users to have it the easiest way possible.
What is Sailfish OS?
It is an OS based on Meego and so in linux, just like android. But there are a lot of differences as well:
The navigation in Sailfish works via gestures, swipe inside the app to the left to go back, down to get into settings, from the left edge to get to the homescreen and more.
The homescreen consists of an overview about open apps in tiles, which are partly interactive.
The system itself is very open to developers and runs even android apps with help of the so called "Alien Dalvik" VM.
Another striking point is, that, other than most if the other OS, it does not force you to have unnecessary apps installed, even the android app support is a module you can download in the market and doesn't use your resources if you don't want it.
The administrative rights (~root) are easy to gain.
I link you a video here that shows you the newest update on the Jolla phone, the new version is considered stable.
The battery of the Jolla phone has 2100 mah and lasts with this update about three days with moderate use. While he does not explain "moderat use" closer, a user said he used whatsapp a lot and so, while I get only one day with moderate use (whatsapp and e-mail), out is likely that the battery time would only improve.
Of course this cannot be guaranteed, but I would like to read your thoughts about it.
what do you think about Sailfish?
Especially concerning the fact that our beloved Xperia ZL is generally less supported than Xperia Z thanks to Sony not making the effort to advertise it as XZ :/
Greetings

Update:
here a member of the xda Community pasted a mail concerning the development state of Sailfish on the nexus 4.
It's as well mentioned, a tool called something like "Hardware adaption" which will work with every cm10 Rom and apparently turn the (Sailfish) Rom into a device specific Rom with the drivers used in cm10.
In my eyes it's very likely that this is also the method Jolla may apply when releasing Sailfish for Android.
What do you think?

update 3:
So Guys, apparently the Alien dalvik (to run android apps on Sailfish) may not be available on Android hardware due to licensing issues.
Still interested?
Personally I was not planning to use the Alien Dalvik anyways, but for many users this may be essential
What do you think?
it would be a good breakthrough for our phone
Dont be sad @keenofhiphop
Consider yourself lucky that our device is almost identical to xperia z so our awesome devs can port it.
And i heard that jolla will make sailfish available for higher end xperia devices so we come in that category
If you need help pm me or search
I will try my best to help you out
That's right as well
As I am no dev I would even take the time to learn it as it *should* be easy if you believe Jolla.

There's a Whatsapp client for sailfish called Mitäkuuluu (or similar) and it is said to be working pretty fine. There's even an indie Tapatalk client for sailfish.
So it's not that there are no Apps. There are just less
