Ive been really happy with my t-mobile service up until recently. I usually use 20- 25gb per month. My data speed seem to have slowed dramatically. Even on LTE I can't get thru half of a youtube video without buffering for a half hour. It takes 24 hrs to download a 870mb Rom. Ive ran speed tests and they show 20-25mbps speeds but im definitely not getting that. Am I being throttled?
Do you have a high speed limit? If so, that may be the case.
It sound like you are being throttled but it could be another issue I would definitely investigate it and dont let tmobile reps give you the run around and be very persistent

I got off the phone with a tmobile rep a while ago who told me that I could get a free upgrade to 10gb from 5 but it lasts only three months, meaning: you pay 30 bucks a month for 10gb Internet for a period of 3 months.. Just so I don't get misunderstood somehow. Sweet sheeit!
edit: oh and I think you can only get it on one line if you have a family plan
Its 3 months, how is that a sweet deal? If it was for the life of the account, maybe.

hmm, I just switched to Tmo from sprint's unlimited data plan. I understand the appeal, and the more is better mentality, but even streaming pandora in the car more than 1gb was unusual usage for me. Who knows, maybe this phone will make me use more.
I'm on the road all day with work so streaming videos, downloading roms, using spotify eats data like crazy.
I only get wifi at home.. Man I don't know what I'd do with 200mb, it wouldn't last me a day

I think he post just for fun nothing to do with proud thing
Cause I use more data than he does and not even one month.two more weeks left
I was pretty surprised that I've used close to amount (last I checked a few days ago, 50GB). No tethering no Torrenting. But it seems that the Gallery likes to use nearly 2GB of data in the background every time I set up a new ROM or Reflash. That plus all the Roms and re downloading of apps from the Store. And more recently, the purchase of a couple HD movies and a hand full of re downloads of the Avengers movie.
77Gb on HSPA+? Come to my area Whole brooklyn gets like 0-0.20Mbit, Loading Netflix or Youtube is virtually impossible here. Called T-mobile they said they're fixing tower, well 4 Months and still fixing it? Good thing I have pre-paid I can cancel any time

So about mud day yesterday, I was watching YouTube, all of a sudden everything started buffering no matter what video I watched. Downloaded a couple files and speeds were only 30kB/s. Didn't think anything of it. Thought it was the host. Didn't do much else but use tapatalk and noticed things were a but slow. Did a speed test and it shot up to like 300kB/s then hovered around 30-50kB/s felt that awfully strange.. as that's what would happen on my old throttle plan.
So I went to bed not thinking of it.
Got up this morning and speeds were the same. Stayed the same for the entire day til I got fed up and called T-Mobile. They "said" I wasn't being throttled. And after I *****ed they "reset" my phone on their network and things were back to normal.
Has anyone else experienced like symptoms? I'd hate to think they went this low to throttle us..

Are you sure you have the truly unlimited 4G plan... Or the unlimited data with let's say 2gb, 5gb or 10gb of 4G data.
If you have the truly unlimited data then you shouldn't be throttled. But if you have one of the other three plans where they cap the 4G data then they throttle you after that certain point.
Or maybe t mobile was having issues with your tower and had to reset the connection?

17 gigs? I really don't see how most people can go over 5 without tethering. I use my phone constantly and I've never gone over 2. Even with what I use on wifi, which might be another 2gb, is still not even 5gb's. So, I can only ASSUME you have been tethering, and they figured it out. That would explain the throttle.

You get 100 uses of tethering anyhow. Then they block you. But as psykhotic said get Netflix and watch HD movies and then tell me how much data you use. Not to mention you can download torrents via your phone. And I never use WiFi except for when transferring files to my phone.
But irregardless, it's unlimited, there shouldn't be a throttle period.

No not 100 uses of tethering.
You can use 100 MB before the block you if you already used the work around on the software they have on the phone.
The program by default on the phone though will actually block you right away.
Unless you use a custom APN then you get blocked after 100 MB.
If you change your User Agent on your browser the the User agent of the phone and you won't get blocked.

Soooo.... why not factory reset while on wifi? I don't understand why people treat the network as a substitute for a home network?
And streaming music doesn't use that much data, you'd have to watch 8 or 10 movies on Netflix to hit a gig. Don't tell me you watch 10 movies a week on your phone. I feel sorry for your eyes.
It is the abuse of the system that will do nothing but raise data rates for all of us. Thanks alot people, enjoy your rerun's of Charles in Charge.
Netflix even on the phone does use more then that. A 2 hour movie would be about 600 mb for that one move.

I'm not sure about this guy but I have no choice. My phone is my internet for my whole family. It's this or dial up. Luckily I have great 4g and unlimited data.
I usually keep my data usage hush hush because people react so negativity to it. I pay my bills. I buy all my devices full price. I'm gonna use my data.

Hahah yea I'm on the grandfathered unlimited. I have been switching my APNs around and found that I got my lte speeds back but recently they throttled me to around 400-500kbs. not a big deal really since I use my phone like a laptop anyways and I still get to do everything I want with those speeds. Just takes some patience for Netflix or videos to load though.

You don't get charged for going over your limit, just throttled, as far as I know. That being said, after the 5GB cap was hit, he should have been throttled back to 2G/Edge, how he managed to rack up that extra 20GB on 2G speeds is beyond me... unless he's rooted, in which case I think there's a way to bypass the throttling.

If you have the unlimited plan don't worry about it . throttling and going over usage doesn't matter they won't charge you for continuing to go over your 5gbs that's just for full speed. If they don't throttle its on their end they won't charge you.
