I bought an EVO 4G last night from craigslist that was supposedly flashed to boost.
After many hours I have managed to figure out the IMEI they used and got it working. Problem is the IMEI they used only gives me talk and text.
What I am trying to do at this point is get the original MEID back on the phone so I can switch to Page Plus.
That or change the MEID to that of a prevail or zte warp sequent that I have.
Either way I need at least 3g speeds so I can use my laptop through the phone when Im out. Otherwise Im stuck at home all the time so I can do my job.
Please let me know if you can help. THanks.
I tried zeroing it with revskills but apparently I didnt know how to do it right or something. It gave me an error and never worked.

Ok I just got my EVO working on Sprint....again.
I got my evo and how happy I was to get it working, I was happy when it worked with 3g internet - the sleepless night and whole day paid off. But I was not content, so I tried to root it. I did and without slowing down I put Fresh 3.2 rom on it.
booom! no 3g no internet lots of frustration. i tried every possible rom I could get on it but no success. finally I got the WWE SPRINT rom from from shipped-roms flashed it - btw you have to get into bootloader, hold down vol down and then fastboot-> bootloader->then start RUU.
SO now I'm with Sprint soft, and after reseting in ##786# and phone reactivated and then I tried update profile-> it went on forever until it failed with 1012. I was getting ready to call Sprint CS, but went it to ##3282# just to check - and wow - suddenly 3g appears. Dont know why, it is magic but I am happy.
If anybody has some insights on what happened to me and more importantly why ? I would really like to know more about how root / custom rom makes evo not connect to internet, perhaps some one with insight knowledge of Sprint CS / and provisioning and how vision passwords work could chime in?
First off you want to make sure you post this in the Q&A forum. Next off I'm assuming since this EVO was a bad ESN and you got it working on a SERO you cloned another ESN. If that's the case I'm not thinking you're going to get much help here, and I wouldn't post that in a public forum. If not you need to give more information on how you got a Bad EVO esn activated on a SERO plan which doesn't take EVO's yet.
Hey, I edited my post. Sorry for the typos. If I;m in a wrong forum - Mods- please move, its my first post - so I apologize.
I bought an evo from someone from Craigslist and it wouldnt activate. Sprint told me the ESN was not correct.
So i did a ton of research and i know i cant even ask certain things so i am trying my best to word this correctly because i am not 100% sure how i can even ask for help with this.
After doing a lot of reading i figured out by using CDMA WS 2.7 that the ESN and MEID dont match whats on the sticker under the battery...which finally made sense to me why Sprint wouldnt let me activate it.
I dont know where to go from here, i am stuck and ready to just dump it back on Craigslist to sell to someone who could either fix it themselves or is willing to deal w/it for whatever service its setup for.
So before i give up i was hoping to reach out to this community for help. If you cant post it because it would infringe the forum rules then please just PM me. Any idea's would be helpful or just some good advice besides throwing this thing at a brick wall. Thanks folks.
I'm pretty sure you got scammed into buying a borked phone. Would probably sell it back on craigslist, honestly obviously
I've seen Evos with bad ESN's sell for a pretty penny on eBay. They can still be used outside the US and can be flashed over to MetroPCS or Boost Mobile here, so it is still not completely useless.
From what I know, the only way to get it to work on Sprint is to know someone in Sprint who will be kind enough to add the ESN on your phone to their database so it can be activated. A co-worker of mine had a Verizon Blackberry Storm on Sprint by doing this a few years back, but he had a family member that worked for Sprint help him out. For all I know, this can't be done anymore, either.
so you dont think i can repair it back to the stock one thats on the sticker under the battery ?
i have been doing a lot of reading and i figured i would give it a shot since if its bad i have nothing to lose.
So far i have the ESN zero'd out 0000000
Meid i cant get because i only found 9 locations, i am not sure where the 10th one is hidden. I am only guessing from what i read that its in 10 locations and thats why it hasnt worked yet.
Using CDMA 2.7 do you know how i might be able to scan to find the last MEID location ?
First off, did Sprint say the Meid that is labeled under the battery is bad? I can only think of two reasons why someone would change the esn/meid. The phone's meid is bad or the person wanted to run an EVO on the $30/month Sero plan. I'm the latter.
Before you go any farther, go back to the Sprint store and find out if the meid under the battery is usable on Sprint. If so you can change the meid back to stock but it is going to require some reading and some effort on your part. CDMAWS 2.7 will not work on the EVO, 2.7 can not do meid #s. Since the esn is all zero's I'm betting the guy botched the job and tried writing the new meid/esn but did not find all the addresses. When you try to change the meid you have to zero out all the meids and all the esn (don't be confused if you see the term pesn. A meid phone calculates an esn based on the meid # and this called a pesn. Essentially pesn and esn are the same thing), there are approx. 16 memory locations you have zero out. If the phone has froyo on it, there are 1 or 2 address that are really hard to get to show up when you are doing a memory dump. You will have to run several dumps until you are no longer finding new memory locations. Rolling back to 2.1 would make it easier.
Go to mobile-files.us. There is a lengthy thread on changing the meid/esn on the EVO. Hopefully the person didn't wipe out your 4G certificate too, I think I read here on XDA that there is away to restore your certificate but I never had to so I never followed the thread.
You aren't completely screwed, think of it like you bought a fixer upper. Even if your stock meid is bad, you could always barrow one from your previous phone but you will not have 4G.
Good Luck, I hope you don't get discouraged and try to find another sucker. It just plain s*cks getting duped. I've been down that road before and that's what got me interested in this aspect of hacking.

If you see the esn and meid from CDMA write it down and call and activate with those numbers, should work.

Thanks, i think he had it programmed for something else like maybe cricket or something, i see a lot of them listed for that, he told me the ESN was good and i checked on a site that checks them and the one under the battery is good.
SO i would have activated it over the phone already but they wouldnt because they said it wasnt a sprint phone... i didnt want to make it their problem and i didnt know what i was talking about at the time as far as asking them for help to fix it.
I also dont want to just dump it back on someone else. I would like to finish the job and get this phone working correctly. I always feel better when i learn how and why its done.
right now im basically stuck after finding 9 of the MEID locations to zero-out. If i cant use CDMA WS 2.7 do you know what program i could use before spending a bunch of money on software ? If buying a new phone will end up as much as software it wouldnt be worth it for me ya know ?
The Evo has OS Version 2.2 and Radio 1.36. Do i need to change either of those before going any further ?
I used a combination of Motorola QPST/QXDM and CDMAWS 3.5 (I bought this when I was playing with the Pre. Can't be shared with others because it checks their servers to verify if that PC has been registered with that user lic.). I used CDMAWS to search for meids and esns. Used Motorola QXBM to change the scm, zero out meids/esns and then write. I also used QPST to match the programming info with my donor phone. The thread at mobile-files mentions how other people dumped the memory locations without having a paid version of CDMAWS.
Even if you went out and bought CDMAWS, my experience is that CDMAWS can not change the EVO's meid on it's own. Maybe some CDMAWS experts can do it but I could not. So don't spend your money on that thinking it will be your savior. It's a great tool for doing programming and working on older phones but it seems to struggle with the newer stuff.
Future Lesson:
When buying a Sprint phone on CL meet up at a Sprint sure and make sure they can activate it in the store. Once successful you then pay the dude.

Ok so I know I did the ultimate no-no with a flashed phone. BoostMobile tech support tried to update my profile. I know I shouldn't have done this. I called both Sprint and BoostMobile tech support for help. My Sprint EVO 4G, flashed to Boost, was being blocked by my boyfriend's Sprint Airave. This is the 2nd EVO4G I have had flashed to boost. The first one (lost forever!) was flashed for over a year, we had the airave then too with no conflict issues. Lost phone. Bought new one (sprint) had it flashed. Now it tries to use the airave.
Differences:: New phone is rooted with Synergy RLS1. Old one was not rooted and had stock ROM on it.
New issues:: CONSTANT notifications about voice mail update. (never had that before). Attempting any kind of call results in error from Airave. I understand WHY! I just want to Stop the BOOST-SPRINT communication and make calls like I did before.
Anyway, I told them the AIRAVE problem, and told them I had custom ROM, ROOT and FLASHED phone they said "No Problem! We know what to do". they screwed the phone up and then accidentally dropped the call. So here I am after days of searching, reading, contemplating, still without phone service. Booting the phone results in loop of ATTEMPTING HANDS FREE ACTIVATION. and many times while on. Under settings, System Updates if I click on update profile it says.....Previous DM session is working now please try again later.
Will I have to go through the whole flash process again? Since I just did this 3-4 weeks ago there isn't much I need to save on the phone. I have all the versions and settings numbers from the phone but just didn't know which ones to post.
Frustrated, Aggravated and Completely out of touch with the world!!!
I would have never gotten to days. After a few hours of no success, I would have just started over

yes I do appreciate the advice. And in moving forward that is the best choice.
Also in moving forward I am hoping that some of the senior members might have comments as to why the almost identical phone was now being blocked by the sprint Airave and getting the constant Sprint notifications of updated voice mail. Surely there is a way to shield the phone from the airave. Other than calling Sprint (no results) or calling Boost ( wrong results) someone has to have figured out a way to stop this.
Any speculations, suggestions, or comments?
What kind of donor phone did you use to flash the Evo?

That I do not know. I have not been able to reach the person who flashed the phone. I will ask that when I reach them. btw I have the original boost phone that was associated with my account before I flashed the first time. That was the donor then, I think. And I was thinking that I should re-register that phone before I flash back again with this 2nd phone. Is that thinking a valid thought?

I found the type of phone. I logged in under my account and it says the current phone is Sanyo SCP-6760 Incognito. I can use the account to change the the phone back to my original handset that I used for years and was the handset I used to fllash to the first EVO I had.

Yeah, I was gonna say, anytime you need to know what donor phone was used to flash your phone..just log into your Boost account and click on "Update Handset" this will tell you exactly what phone is on your account aka used as your donor phone. It will almost always be either the Incognito or Rant. ((But anyone thinking of flashing a phone, should never have this problem because you should always have physical possession of the donor used on your account..there is not one single reason why the person flashing your phone would need to hold on to your donor. Period. So always make sure that you ask for , and receive the donor phone used to activate your Sprint phone)))
That being said...Unfortunately, your phone is going to need reflashed again, and you definitely did not need to activate the previous donor on to your Boost account. You just needed to contact the person who flashed your phone and (hopefully) he still has your donor phone and will be able to pull your passwords (profile info ) out of it again and write it to your Sprint phone. (Like you already seem to be aware of) when your profile was reset, that meant that it did not match what was on your flashed Sprint phone. You'll need to (first activate the donor that was on your account before you just switched it to your previous one) and then update the profile (on that donor) and then put it on your Evo and you'll be good as new...OR just reflash your phone all together with the donor that you just activated on the account.
As far as the Voicemail Update issue...I have noticed this being pushed constantly to the Sprint phones also(including my Evo LTE on Boost) , I honestly don't believe there is a way to stop it. It doesn't really bother me anymore it just sits in the notification tray all the time. I imagine that eventually Sprint will stop pushing it to their phones. If I do ever come up with a fix for it though I will be sure to try and look this thread up or pm you with it. Good luck with getting your Evo back online...and word to the wise..never call Boost for anything if you have a flashed phone on your account...First off they will trouble shoot it as if its the donor phone..Second, their standard protocol is to Update the profile, and/or Factory reset the phone, either of which will interrupt the service on your flashed Sprint phone.
I have a note 2 (sprint bad esn) that I cannot get flashed to page plus.
I have had this phone on Verizon prepaid until it crapped out.
I then put it on boot mobile but could not get it to work
I then am now trying to get it on Page plus.
I have tried Wireless Workshop, manually doing it with CDMA and DFS, and have taken it to 2 different companies in my town to have it flahed. They cannot findout anything that is wrong with the phone and still cannot get it to properly flahsed.
So my options are Is there a way to get this thing flashed back to sprint. (stock data, mms, and voice) settings and re flash it to page plus or can i just take it back to a sprint store and they can do it for me?
thanks!
Chris
What's exactly wrong with it ? I've got mine flashed to Verizon prepaid but its basically the same as pageplus far as flashing

Thanks for the reply.
The company that flashed it was remotewirelesstech.com
They flashed it then about 2 months later it crapped out on me. I lost data then i lost voice/text a couple of weeks later.
I contacted them and they said that they will not reflash bc alot of ppl have hadthis happen to them in the past.
So I tried to flash to Boost. Got everything to work, then I got no data or voice.
I then tried to use wireless workshop to go to Pageplus but nothing would work.
Someone told me that Pageplus will not allow rooted phones, so I unrooted and went back to a stock rom 4.1.2.
I reflashed with wireless workshop and now when I try to call it askes to add money to the account.
But nothing works. I still have 2 dollars on my PP account.
I then took it to 2 different flashing companies around my area and they could not figure it out. (II think they both done just automated one click methods) but Ive even tried to get it to work with CDMA workshop and DFS to no avail.
If someone is up to it, I can donate paypal to get this thing flashed remotly. Im so desperate.
I paid almost 500 for this phone last march and now If I sell it, It will only get 300 out of it. But I love my Note II, and was thinkgin about buying the verizon model if I sell this one.
Any suggestions??
i can help
i can do a remote flash.... those 1 click methods dont work to well....i use dfs
pm me and we can set up something
a couple months ago i had my epic 4g flashed over to metro with data working and everything except pic messaging. then i went for a dry spell with work and had to shut my metro phone off to pay bills. well i went to get it turned back on which worked just fine on the epic but data wont turn back on. the guy that flashed my phone told me that my phone would have to be flashed again, i am not paying another 60 dollars to flash this phone. so anyway can anyone give me a hand in figuring this out? i tried getting my phone on qpst and cdma workshop but for some reason it won't recognize my phone and cdma just tells me phone wont answer. and help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a wild guess, but maybe try updating your Profile. And you can access the "MMS Server URL" setting with ##3282##. You'll need your MSL and get the server setting from MetroPCS.
You'll have to do both of these using the Samsung-based firmware. If you are flashed with a custom ROM then you can try booting into a temporary Samsung FC09 ROM.
