as for the display do not turn on the backlight of capacitive buttons? I want that only light up when I touch only the capacitive keys?
And why don't you ask on CM thread?don't you think it's more logical you will get an answer there,rather than here?
Not to mention you were not clear what your problem is.

I know that cm does not have that option, and because stock lg firmware is avaliable...
I want to know if there is a way to not turn the backlights on the keys when you touch the screen in CM10.2 or 10.1
but only when touch the screen, i want backlight when touch the keys.
Why not disable the brightness.. There's an app "capacitive buttons" on playstore so you can switch on/off ur capactive lights.. Just reboot phone to go back to default settings
Any news about that?
Actually we want the behavior of capacitive buttons to be like in the stock rom
To flash only when we touch them and not all the time regardless if we touch them or not
I found a way to disable the light permanently
su
cd /sys/devices/platform/leds-pm8058/leds/button-backlight-portrait
echo 0 > brightness
chmod 444 brightness
cd /sys/devices/platform/leds-pm8058/leds/button-backlight-landscape
echo 0 > brightness
chmod 444 brightness

I just noticed my buttons aren't lighting up anymore :/
Mine stay on whenever charging and at all brightness levels... the only way they'll go off is if I put the phone to sleep (click power button).
Anyone know the setting location? I have Cyanogen & ADW launcher. I've seen it before but it's been so long I forgot where they were and can't find them.

Menu > Settings > CM Settings > Display > Automatic Backlight > Edit other levels
Lower / Upper = readings from the light sensor
Screen = the screen brightness you want based on the lower/upper light sensor values
Buttons = whether or not you want the softkeys on. Unfortunately, they cannot be dimmed (hardware limitations, from what I've read), so 255=on and 0=off
In the default configuration, for example, if the sensor value is 0-199, the screen will be set to brightness 25 and the softkeys will be turned on. If the sensor value is >399, notice that the softkeys turn off (button value changes to 0). If you want the buttons on all the time, set all button values as 255. If you're like me, and you hate the softkey lights, set all button values to 0.
THANK YOU! Exactly what I was looking for and clearly explained!
Anyone know an easy way to dim the Dinc Soft, Capacitive Keys? I've searched around and haven't found a solution. Most apps seem to only be able to turn off the backlight on the soft keys....not dim them.
That is because they only recognize 1s and 0s (on and off, they're a switch, not a dimmer).
Damn....cause the Dinc's backlight on those Soft Keys is pretty damn bright. Wish I could fix this. For now, I just disabled the backlight...

You need to use a script in the init.d folder if your rom supports it. If not you need to use an app like script manager to run it at every boot. This is the script for the incredible, not sure if the path is the same for the aria.
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
sleep 10
chmod 0666 /sys/devices/platform/leds-gpio/leds/button-backlight/brightness
echo "0" > /sys/devices/platform/leds-gpio/leds/button-backlight/brightness
chmod 0444 /sys/devices/platform/leds-gpio/leds/button-backlight/brightness
All you need to do is download an app called "screen filter." Launch the app, and then you may have to tap on the notification. Then, you can turn your led buttons off pretty well (they may light as soon as you turn screen on, but that's it.) This app is great. You can also using it during the night, when you're texting under the sheets, or when you want to save your battery, because you can make your screen darker than you can from your phone's settings. Please be careful though, do not set the brightness too low! hope this helps!
Is there anyway to have the capacitive back and menu buttons always be lit up? Touchwiz would allow you to do this but I recently upgraded to Cyanogenmod and this is bugging me like crazy. It only allows you to turn it off or have it turn on and off intermittently. I have seen plenty of threads on how to disable the backlight or the buttons completely but is there a way to just enable the backlight always on like in TW?
On 10.2.nightly: Settings / Buttons / Backlight ... Slider all the way to right is "Don't turn off"".
Betcha your battery goes south fast.

Hello, I'm currently using CyanogenMod 11 [BR4] and I'm unsure if it's an issue with the rom or my device as they used to work before this rom.
The bottom button light is always turned on when the screen is turned off. The brightness goes down, but they're still turned on at a dimmed level.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Not from my side at least,I'm also on BR4. Well the only way you may try is to change the rom, Try any nightly or any other rom. But in my opinion it has nothing to do with Capacitive sensors. Some sort of light panel issue(Hardware Issue) :fingers-crossed:, not rom itself.

Seems the issue was to do with overclocking. Reduced the CPU speed and seems to work perfect now.

Yes, but not a MIUI user so can't tell you which method exactly will work... And they all require root.
Rooted and on Resurrection ROM right now.
Thanks.
Then you should have in settings brightness control... turn it down all the way.
Edit: Are we talking about navigation bar or hw keys... I am confused.
The hardware keys. Aren't they the same?
Usually we call navigation bar the thing that takes up space at the bottom of the screen... HW keys are keys...
Anyway like I said in settings you should have buttons brightness slider and turning it all the way down should turn off leds.
The hackers way is to write 0(zero) in file /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness but to stick after reboot you can make simple txt file in /system/etc/init.d folder, call it 999leds_off and put this lines in it:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
# buttons leds off
if [ -e /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness ];
then
sleep 30
su -c "echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness"
fi;
It worked. Thank you so much.
and to power up the poor led light to the Max brightness?
