E988 Questions about network - LG Optimus G Pro

Can I flash from any variant of ROM/Kernel on the E988 if I am from Australia?
We don't have AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile. We do have LTE carriers but I don't use them as they are severely underdeveloped and waste battery in my city. The plans are also very expensive and they don't offer prepaid services on LTE
My network runs on GSM/UMTS with the following frequencies.
2G
900Mhz
1800Mhz
3G
900MHz
2100MHz

Maybe...yes, just go to play store, install FreeGee so that pass bootloader and install custom recovery. And boot into recovery, backup your rom.
After all, flash any rom you need. If have any proplems, just restore your rom using custom recovery.
You should flash stock firmware 10d from HongKong E988 to use 2G mode if your phone have 16G internal Storage. Here the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438088

any luck getting your phone working? im in the same boat.... however phone wont even detect the sims cards, tried optus & telstra sims.

No LTE when using 919V with Rogers

Hi,
I just bought a Videotron locked SGH-M919V and purchased the unlock codes.
I am with Rogers, and since the unlock this phone works well for voice, but I can not get data to go faster than 3G.
In a place where i used to get 25+ mbps download with LTE I cant get more than 3.7 mbps.
When I look at the APNs, I have LTE tethering and Rogers LTE and Rogers LTE is selected.
In network mode I can only choose:
GSM/WCDMA
GSM only
WCDMA only
How can I get LTE speeds?
Thanks
Had the same issue on the BELL LTE network.
While searching on the web today, I found out two answers to your querry :
1 - Installing a little .apk application named "phone info" not available on the google store witch allow you to kinda force the usage of certain band (including LTE) on your SGH-M919V! See the attachement for the .apk application.
Once the application is installed on your SGH-M919V, open it
Select the first option (mine's in french, but it should be similar to Device Informations or Pheripherical Informations).
Scrool down to where you can choose the network bands or protocols from the menu.
On the Bell Network, "WCDMA prefered" was the default option, and changing it to "LTE/GSM auto (PRL) maked the phone switch between 3g and LTE speeds when available.
2 - Flashing the SGH-919's (non-v) modem.bin with odin. I tried this method, but it didn't worked as expected. The flashing wouldn't work as installed so I started to look for other answers. If someone found answers for this method, a tutorial would be greatly appreciated! (I followed theses instructione but it didnt worked for me :
I didn't wrote theses instructions, they are freely accessible on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266101
1) Download the T-Mobile firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SGH-M919&pcode=0#firmware
2) Find the file "modem.bin" and move it to another folder. This file should be about 50MB.
3) Put phone in download mode and plug in USB.
4) Start Odin software.
5) Select "phone" and select the "modem.bin" file.6) Only thing checked should be "Auto Reboot"
7) Hit Start
8) Let it reboot and after that you should be able to connect the LTE network.
The first method is the one that worked for me. Feel free to post any questions if unclear, i'll be glad to answer!

Might be Rogers oversaturated LTE Network.
The solution I found is this
For M919V flash the entire original stock rom of I337M from rogers, bell, or telus (3x) and reboot after each flash and then wipe cache and factory reset (with stock recovery). Your phone becomes I337M even on bootloader. Now you have LTE. To get AWS band, look for a thread that says how to enable AWS for I337/I337M . And now you have LTE + AWS
I recommand flashing Telus I337M 4.2.2 rom (it only has one telus bloated app) or the Bell one (4 bell apps). Rogers is the worse rom to flash lol
I've experimented and tested it, thus it definitely works!
That solution seems to work for M919V models only.

[Q] Need help. Can only detect GSM signals.

I'm using the E975 and I've unlocked the bootloader, installed CM11 on it.
However I realised that the ROM did not detect any signals. I couldn't make calls or SMS.
I had to manually go to the network settings and find the carrier (Singtel) to register everytime I start the phone.
I then flashed savvy 4 ROM to see if the network was any better. It was, but then I was limited to GSM only. I couldn't get 3G or 4G.
Before I unlocked the bootloader, I had 3G and 4G signals.
Then I decided to KDZ back to stock ROM. I had network but only limited to GSM.
I realised my phone could only detect GSM signals from Singtel, M1 and Starhub. I couldn't see 3G or 4G.
I don't know what to do now. I need help. Must I flash any basebands or modems or anything? Thanks

Flash LS980 to Page Plus

have a rooted ls980 on CloudyG3, TWRP. I used basic flash tool to get sms and voice working on Page Plus
I cannot get 3g working. I do have CDMA workshop . any tutorial on using CDMA workshop to flash LS980 to page plus with working 3g ?

have you change from Sprint to Undetermined ?
I just flashed and followed CloudyG3 FAQ which shows how to get data working. I use mine on TMO. Look at the FAQ post for Cloudy and you will be fine.
Mind you LS980 only supports UMTS2100, so you may not get 3G unless your carrier supports that band. On TMO I only get 2G at 200-400 Kbps which is still pretty fast.

TMO is GSM not CDMA bro...With GSM, most of your programming is in the SIM and through APN setting..it's different with CDMA...we have to flash our carrier settings (not the same flashing as flashing a ROM)

Sorry I thought your carrier was GSM.
I am aware CDMA is different, I was assuming you wanted to use it on GSM. If you want CDMA then yes you have to flash carrier settings.
I know some carriers flash Sprint/Verizon phones for their CDMA network so you could try that.

Use only WCDMA and LTE networks, not GSM

Hello! I do not want to use GSM networks. I found "WCDMA only" in the phone settings, but I want accept LTE networks too. Who know how can I do this? My phone is rooted and have a custom recovery, firmware V20h. Thanks!

Why flashing a different radio is not chaning my LTE bands?

Guys, I want some opinions on this matter I'm trying to fix.
I bought an Taiwan HTC 10 (M10H) which comes with several LTE bands (not the ones I need).
I'm trying to make this Asian version to work fully as an US unlocked version to get those different bands.
You may have read my posts on this topic on other threads.
But in short, since the unlocked version is the right version for my LTE needs, I unlocked the bootloader and S-OFF the phone to flash RUUs. That went smoothly, and my phone was converted to US-Unlocked (and T-Mobile branded later).
All in hopes of having the very same possibilities, LTE speaking at least (AWS Band is my objective).
But for some reason I'm failing to understand, the LTE bands are locked and not changing after flashing this RUU or the T-Mobile one. I have absolutely the same bands no matter what.
I have also flashed several radios from different versions, but nothing changes.
Failing with the RUUs and Radios, I resorted to changing the LTE Bands with Qualcomm Tools (QPST/QXDM). That failed as well, and it will until we grab a custom -made from scratch- kernel. That remains an open possibility when CM13 is functional.
But I'm still clueless with the failure of flashing RUUs to achieve my needs. If the phone is the same -hardware wise-, why flasing the RUU is not achieving the expected results? (or what is not modifying to prevent my phone to act like an US Unlocked?). I'm not sure what I missing. A hidden partition that remains untouched?
Is there a setting based on my Serial Number? (in my case FA65HBN02308). Because that's pretty much the only value that remains the same after flashing RUUs. Also my phone is still being recognized by windows as an M10H (sometimes just HTC 10). Or maybe this is related with the RIL?
Anyways, you're invited to help
Hello, I guess I'm in a similar situation, I've an HTC 10 bought online which is Unlocked from europe, I'm in México, but it's supposed that LTE works here (Band 4, 1700 MHz) and is supported by the HTC 10. But I can only get 3g and an H symbol. I already went to Telcel (my carrier) to check if it had to do with the chip or apn or something, but no it's the phone.
I unlocked my bootloader, left it S-ON, flashed twrp and super su (following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-root-optionally-s-off-radio-t3373025) and then installed Elemental-X Kernel. I'm on 1.80.401.1
Radio bands are hardware dependent the last I checked. Flashing software wont change the actual radio compatibility. By changing the region, you'll force your phone to get updates with that line, but that's about it.
As for Telcel compatibility, I'm pretty sure that requires AWS LTE. LTE bands need both an uplink and a downlink. Just having one of the two bands (1700) wont make you AWS LTE compatible. You need full AWS B4 (1700/2100).

According to this site, the phone is fully compatible with the lte band, and is the same model sold internationally. As I mentioned, I unlocked bootloader, flashed recovery, kernel, root (Super Su beta 2.74 I think) could that have disabled the lte?

Are hardware dependant but this modem supports all LTE bands. Every region just enables and disables needed bands. Of course software can't solve this if your hardware does not support the bands. But the Snapdragon 820 support all the bands. Aside from the display, the rest of the hardware is the very same for every variant (being China the only exception).
Which bands are enabled depends on a set of instructions on Qualcomm NV values.
You can verify this with DFS tools or QXDM from Qualcomm (you need root and Diag Mode also).
The problem so far is that the Qualcomm kernels have an anti-tampering function (source: couple of guides), preventing modifications for GSM. I have already succeded in changing the values for CDMA, and there is another user that has reported the changes to be working on CDMA. But I was unable to do it for GSM. So we have to wait until CM13 works to try this option with a built from scratch kernel.
That still doesn't answer us why I couldn't achieve it. But for eg. mnguyen127 said it worked for him. So confusion continues...(at least for me).

Yeah, I still get Band 4 consistently albeit only in certain areas, which is interesting. The HTC 10 seems to have some interesting default band priorities, so it'll always choose Band 12 over band 4 unless band 12 is unavailable. If I more a mile out of my city to the next city over, all I get is band 4. If I stay in my city, all I get is band 12. I did some experimenting and when I used my LG G3, the phone prioritized band 4. I'm not actually sure if the LG G3 is able to connect to band 12; I just know that it default connects to band 4 in areas where my HTC 10 Taiwan based one won't. Also confirmed with another forum member that his US unlocked phone bought from HTC would default prioritize other lte bands over band 4.
The only methods I used were these: (order might not be perfect)
Fastboot commands
S-OFF
Root
TWRP
Changed MID/CID from Taiwan to US Unlocked
Flashing from 1.3 taiwan to 1.5 U.S Unlocked by using ROM (I think), which caused me to lose root but allowed me to updated to 1.80.617.1 by OTA. Afterwards, I rerooted and installed TWRP (probably some unnecessary extra step but I had to since I realized my radio firmware was out of date with my ROM) and flashed the 1.8 US radios, which updated my radio firmware. I used fastboot to flash the radio firmware, but I didn't do it through download mode. I think I did it through bootloader. I then manually flashed 1.80 firmware which caused me to lose root and TWRP but allowed me to keep my updated radio firmware, my new US unlocked CID/MID, and allows me to receive update directly from HTC on my Taiwan based phone.
I get band 12 and 4 consistently.
Sorry if I couldn't be more helpful
