hello i noticed on any 4.3 rom that google play doesnt work with any equalizer properly . the dsp manager doesnt work with at all..any equalizer that does work with it will make the music distorted and make popping noises..but on 4.2.2 it doesnt do that it works and the music plays clearly is this a bug in 4.3.
Most likely. As I understand it most of the 4.3 roms should really be considered beta or maybe even alpha. Haven't used one myself but there seem to be lots of bugs and random issues. Best advice, go back to 4.1.2, or 4.2.2 based roms for now.

Can anyone get this working in Pandora without having to kill Google music and the stock music player?

From my understanding, you will have to kill the stock music player (or delete it, I did). You may be able to use Google Music if you delete it as a system app and install it from the market (no guarantee, haven't tried it). I use Poweramp instead of the stock music player and it is much better! Works flawlessly with this mod. Have used it on Frosty JB v10 and Wicked v 1.3 & 2.1. Hope you get it working!
I killed google music and it started working with Pandora. I tried installing Google music from the market and get the same behavior...Pandora not skipping tracks. That really sucks because those are the only 2 music apps that I use.

check this out....
I had launched pandora... used it with the vol-rocker to skip tracks. everything was good.
I paused pandora by unplugging my headphones (autopause). I unfroze google music
Next, I opened google music to play some music, turned the screen off, and then tried to use the volume rocker to change tracks.
guess what happened? Google music stopped and pandora skipped to the next pandora track. I had to go into pandora, hit menu, then hit quit. After this, the music skipping worked perfectly in google music. Unfortunately, google music doesn't have a similar "quit" button.
conclusion? This volume rocker mod is not doing a good job of figuring out which music player has focus.
This was mentioned in that thread. UnknownForce mentioned this in the post.
So, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the Mod itself, as it's doing what it's supposed to do (Send the MEDIA_NEXT or MEDIA_PREVIOUS broadcast to the system) It seems like it's something wrong with the way the system handles the broadcast and routing it to the appropriate application.

It was also mentioned a couple of posts below that, again by UnkownForce, in the original thread.
Yes, it does actually work, but only with the "Top level" music player. Which explains why when you remove the others, that it works with the current player, whatever player that may be.
It seems like it's a system bug that can't distinguish which player "has focus" when pressing a Media button like next or previous. I haven't had much time to look at it with the holidays and everything, but I'm still looking into ways to make this work.

I also noticed that if you aren't playing any music, long pressing the vol up will start playing music.

Snag android.policy.jar from the unmodified version of whatever rom you were using.

Mirror anybody? The link is dead.
There's a better one in the development section.
Edit: I was going to link you to it, but I can't find it at all. I just saw it last night. By mikeyinid, I haven't a clue lol.

On every TW rom now that I've noticed Google play music doesn't seem to have gapless playback anymore. I thought it was a kernel issue but it wasn't the case. Any aosp rom like cm seems to have it. Why not tw all of a sudden??

Bump
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I wanted to bump this after updating my Play Music to today's latest version, featuring All Access. OP says that they've gotten gapless playback out of Play Music on AOSP ROMs, but not TW. I haven't gotten it to work on any kind of ROM, and it's really frustrating. I want to leave Spotify for All Access, but Spotify's gapless streaming is a huge draw for me, and I'm just not understanding why I'm not experiencing the same thing when it's advertised as a feature of Play Music.
edit: wanted to clarify that I don't have gapless playback with local files, either.
Same boat here. I'm about ready to switch from Spotify to All Access, but lack of gapless playback is a big mark against Google Play.
Sent from my STOCKORAMA-Powered SGH-T999 via Tapatalk 2
It really sucks because I had Gapless playback in the beginning of January, then ever since mid January I lost that feature and never gained it back. Idk if it's a line of code that all gs3 devs are using to tweak their rom that's causing the feature to disappear, or if it's a Google error. My cousins gs4 has it and he's on stock non rooted TW. You don't know how frustrated I was when I heard one of my favorite live albums back to back on his phone when I can't on mine.

Hello all. I have a GT-N7100 running liqidsmooth ROM. I cannot run Netflix, it gets to loading film and stays there. I changed ROM back to Hawkish extreme ROM with a stock kernel, and lo and behold it worked got to load film screen and it streamed it straight away. Could my problem be to do with the non stock kernel(Liquidsmooth). So my question really is, is there a stock kernel that I could flash. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. By the way I also tried Avatar ROM.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Had this issue myself, my google skills told me that netflix uses a different video player on 4.2 roms, which all kernels (that I know of) dont seem to support. There is an xposed plugin that tricks netflix into thinking you have ICS, which then causes the app to use the video player that most kernels actually support.
User MikeySmikey has posted the details here.
Well thanks for enlightening me. I am going to try this straight away. I will post back the results. Once again thank you for the info.

Hi all.
I have a note 2 which is on the latest official 4.3. Phone hasn't been rooted or anything as i'm a bit of a novice so haven't had a chance to mess around with all of that yet.
The phone is great and I've moved over from an Xperia Z which I just couldn't get on with. However, there is one thing the XZ excels in which the note doesn't appear to (at least out of the box anyway) and thats music.
The XZ had a media played with ClearAudio+ and it made all of my music sound absolutely amazing. I've downloaded a few apps off the store such as playerpro etc but none of them even come close to replicating the sound of the XZ.
My question is, is there an app anywhere or anything I can do to get my Note 2 to sound anything like the XZ?
Hello! I would recommend using PowerAmp. The trial version is available on play store. Unfortunately, for the full version, you must pay. But i'd say it's worth a try.
First root, you can have better sound quality than XZ. Just need to flash a small file and install one apk. Root first then...

Yeah I rooted the device yesterday, then went about flashing the Walkman zips from this site but that didnt work. I just got force closes on everything I tried to open. I then tried to flash the Acid Audio stuff and again, everything force closed on me when trying to open it. Eventually I gave up and flashed the Xperia Z Rom that is on here with a mixture of Note 2 and Note 3 improvements thrown in as well and that worked a treat so now I can finally enjoy Clear Audio + again
Viper4Android ftw! The sheer number of options to tweak the sound to your liking may seem overwhelming at first, but once you get used to it, its absolutely amazing! Works perfectly fine on any rooted stock rom. Check with your rom though, it may break the ClearAudio+ functionality.

Stuffs like one small file and one apk isn't gonna help anyone. Try answering in a more clear way next time. I am thinking what that one small file is. Hmmmmm
