Hey guys, I'm looking to get the tmobile version of this phone since the i9505 doesn't support LTE on tmobile. Would the ROMS made for the i9505 work on this phone? I currently have the HTC One and I can flash the international roms on that phone.
I know the Octa core roms wont work, but will the i9505 roms work?
Thanks for the help!
From all that I have read, all i9505 ROMs will work on the SGH-M919 S4 model. You just have to MAKE SURE that the baseband is NOT baked into the ROM image.

Ahh. ok. Is there a tmobile radio image thats available in case things go wrong? I know the entire ODIN image will restore the phone, but is there just a radio.img file? Thanks.
Is there anyone else that can confirm that they'll work on this phone? I just really want to be sure

As for Odin'ing a radio image, yes. There's a thread around here somewhere that has just the radio image. You'll have to search though.

As for the recent 4.3 odin image leak, I'm assuming since that contains a radio, it's not going to work on this phone?

To which 4.3 Odin image are you referring? If you mean the 4.3 GPe image, then nah, I wouldn't flash that. There are plenty of CWM flashable versions of the 4.3 GPe leak to even risk using Odin to flash it. You got me kinda excited though thinking you were referring to a 4.3 TouchWiz leak; to which I got kinda excited... I can't lie

Yeah 4.3 Touchwiz. I know about the GPe (HTC has that too)

Thats why I was asking. 4.3 touchwiz would be nice, and since there aren't any custom roms based on it yet, I wondered if I could flash the odin image.

Also, I'd just wait for a CWM-flashable zip as Odin + modems/radios/etc don't really mix well from my understanding between the various models of S4.

I mean, really... if you're like me; and by that I mean staying rooted, not really caring about having stock recovery, and not having to be the absolute first to have the latest and greatest OTA which might break your root/etc, then I'd definitely recommend just sticking with whatever you got now and just waiting until the unsung heros of XDA figure out how to work work their magic on the new stuff.

Hello,
Just thought I would post this for you T999v users out there.
It's the 4.3 update now available on kies.
Proceed with caution like us with the T999. You'll have to deal with Knox and root issues in sure.
Not sure what the differences are between the T999 and the T999v update if any besides the corresponding files needed for that phone.
Anyways, here's the Samsung link

Nice. Come on Samsung, let's keep this rolling. My T999L still hasn't been updated to 4.3.
FYI, you can use Mobile Odin to flash only the modem and then use one of the T-mobile roms. This way you can bypass Knox.
Just load the file in mobile odin. Then tap all the partitions except for the modem and select clear to ensure they don't get flashed

is 4.3 modem different from 4.2.2?
i dont understand why there was no need of flashing modem when moving from a 4.2.2 custom rom to a 4.3 one?

T999V 4.3 Rom!
For any who are interested, here is a deodexed, Knox Free 4.3 Rom built from Wind's MK5 firmware! I am fairly certain that all the Canadian carriers roms will be very closely related, and anyone can flash this if they so choose. It should work on the T999 and T999L as well, provided you have the correct modem for your model. Anyway, I hope some of you find it useful!
Warning: I currently do not have a phone and so I cannot test this. I am confident it will work as expected, but I make no guarantees. Flash at your own risk!
If you do try this Rom out, please let me know if WiFi is working or not. If not, flashing the AT&T kernel should fix this. Also, let me know if you have updated to 4.3 by flashing the OTA or official firmware.
Enjoy!

Could you elaborate? Do you mean it was bootlooping? If so at what point would it shut down and loop? What modems and kernels did you try?
same here Doc i flashed the file then flashed the mk4 modem in twrp. everything showed successful but it keeps boot looping.

hi i have a note 2 sgh-I317m and im currently on CleanRom 5.0
ive been looking at the new Ditto rom for note 2 and i want to switch, but is there a certain process i have to go through to switch? or can i just upgrade on top of cleanrom atm?
You should follow the op's (developer) instructions..Some of these 4.3 roms want you to flash a file for the 4.3 bootloader...I'd read the instructions very carefully and read as many post as you can because more then usual you'll face the same issues they had...
good luck

If your on 4.1.2 you will need to either flash the att I317 leak if your on att it's on post 226 in the general forum att 4.3 leak or flash a 4.3 bootloader as per the ops instruction in the rom you want. Both use Odin. If you pick the first option it will wipe your device and make you fully stock. So it will require you to root again and flash twrp. The up side it's the most stable way. The second uses Odin to flash. Some have reported problems. Read through the first few pages of the rom to see the issues.

OTA will only work with a stock 3e recovery...
But taking a factory update over the top of a rooted rom is not a good idea...
Backups are done with a custom recovery...and yes...you need to start reading and learning the proper steps or you will end up making a paper weight..... g

I apologize. MK5 is a problematic bootloader. Do not try to Odin flash an older firmware over this. Again I apologize. What carrier are you with? If it is a Canadian carrier you can just flash the appropriate firmware from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2558311. These have the bootloader removed.

I've only used stock and CM11 so far since 4.3. The I've not tried Liquid Smooth but Grievous ROM is pretty good. It's the ROM currently on my wife's phone. It is white themed Touchwiz which was my biggest selling point.

I don't think that is compatible with the i747m no?
Oh and also, let's say I want to get Liquid Smooth onto my phone but I currently have Quantum. Do I have to flash back to stock with Odin and then install the Liquid Smooth ROM? Or can I just go and wipe the system now in recovery without going to stock and then install Liquid Smooth in recovery?
Grievous is compatible with the 747m. Im on 747m Bell. You just need to flash a modem and kernel to get data and wifi to work. As far as liquid smooth, you do not need to go back to stock. Installing the ROM and then wiping should work. If you do find that you ever flash a ROM and have WiFi issues, kernel is likely culprit. No data is usually due to a modem. These seem to be more often with new ROMs and most development based off AT&T phones.
Hi all,
Starting from the beginning... I had been having issues with CM 11 (LTE issues) so I decided to flash stock 4.1.2 (which was lag-galore) and upgraded to 4.3 to see any performance improvements. I was terribly disappointed with stock 4.3 for it extremely slow. laggy and sluggish as compared to the buttery CM. (I also did many tweaks in dev option and factory restored but my phone just wont stop lagging)
So basically I am wondering: Can I root 4.3, flash a custom ROM and if for any reason I have to, FLASH BACK TO STOCK 4.3?
I want to sell my phone down the road and my original plan was to flash 4.1.2 stock but with the bricking issues involved while downgrading I want to know if I can go straight from custom to 4.3 stock.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Yep you can always Odin back to stock 4.3, just not lower. I know with the M version you can anyway.

If you have an i747m (Bell, Telus, Rogers), there is a complete stock 4.3 ROM. For the AT&T s3 (i747), there is not stock 4.3 ROM as AT&T only released their 4.3 ROM as an OTA update.

maybe its just me expecting too much from my phone. Compared to CM 11, I feel touchwiz is soooo slow and stutters and lags and is just plain behind. I did a factory reset myself with no noticeable change so I guess that's the way it is.

If I remember right, once on 4.3 you can no longer use the free unlock method. You will have to buy a code online. If you have a T999, you can try flashing the 4.1.1 modem and see if you can do it though. You wont get any signal if you are on a 4.3 rom until you flash back to the 4.3 modem btw.

You dont need to be rooted, but you do need a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) in order to flash the modem. I never made any odin flashable packages for the modems, only recovery flashable.
Just so you know, flashing a custom recovery will void your warranty if its still valid and you care about that.
Thanks bro, I don't care about warranty.... So all I have to do now is flash a recovery then flash the modem, hmm wonder if anyone has ever got it to work like that before tho.... If it doesn't tho can u recommend a cheap unlocking site please

All I remember for sure is that on 4.1.2, samsung patched against this unlock method, but we were still able to flash the 4.1.1 modem and unlock. In 4.3, you cant use an older modem or youll get no signal, but Im just not sure if you can still use the free unlock method that way.
Ebay had several very cheap options at one point. Also, http://gsmliberty.net has/had(?) a promo where if you posted a video of yourself unlocking using their method they would refund you your money, essentially making it free. Not sure if that is still valid though.

There were several mentions of specific sellers that only charged a few bucks in the unlock thread if you want to dig in to find them.

Any 4.1.1 modem, as long as its one for your model device. If you wanted you could see if flashing a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 rom would make a difference, but as before, I kinda doubt it will.
When we were updated to 4.1.2, and found that the unlock method was patched, all we had to do was flash an older modem. Didnt matter what build it was from.
agree
