Accidentally flashed nexus 7 firmware on I9515 - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I accidentally flashed the Nexus7 firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449072) on my S4 mini running latest CM10.1 nightly.
I wanted to ask, can i somehow revert that? it doesnt seem to affect anything at the moment..
these files were copied:
package_extract_file("bootloader-flag.txt", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc");
package_extract_file("bootloader.sbl2.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/sbl2");

package_extract_file("bootloader.tz.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/tz");
package_extract_file("bootloader.rpm.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/rpm");
package_extract_file("bootloader.aboot.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot");
package_extract_file("bootloader-flag-clear.txt", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc");
package_extract_file("bootloader.sbl2.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/sbl2b");
package_extract_file("bootloader.sbl3.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/sbl3b");
package_extract_file("bootloader.tz.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/tzb");
package_extract_file("bootloader.rpm.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/rpmb");
package_extract_file("bootloader.aboot.img", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/abootb");
package_extract_file("DDR.bin", "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/DDR");
can i just delete these files or are they used by the system? how would I be able to tell if they are used?
Thanks!

That doesn't look good. Some very important partitions might have been written to. Can you still boot it into recovery or the rom?

if the phone boot in recovery mode, the phone can be repaired;
can boot ?

I'm using the phone as usual
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
The phone booted regularly and I am using it at the moment as if nothing happened.
So i guess I shouldn't reboot? ^^
How can I fix this? Reflash CM?
In the update script of CM I can't see these files being touched. The boot.IMG actually doesn't contain any files in /dev. Is that normal?
Thanks

Yeah those files are being written directly to partitions, which is very dangerous if they're from another device. The one you flashed in particular replaces the bootloader partitions, which might completely brick the phone and make it unbootable. I guess that if you was able to boot it after flashing it, that it didn't actually flash the partitions after all. So if everything seems ok, you should consider yourself lucky.

hy,
if the phone boot in recovery mode, then you can make a full restore factory firmware with this file:
Bootloader -> BOOTLOADER_I9195XXUAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
PDA -> CODE_I9195XXUAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
PHONE -> MODEM_I9195XXUAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
CSC -> CSC_OXA_I9195OXAAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
PIT -> CSB_signed_SERRANOLTE_ONEPIT_OPEN_130523.pit
the factory firmware are I9195XXUAMG8_1097013_DBT, link:
https://mega.co.nz/#!FtEjAKSY!QKwkYilDkcB43Yu1tYsBqTGsD5U-f3n3P5Uaho7bJY8

thanks
and would you recommend flashing that? would anything else be affected? (CM 10.1)
or am i "safe" ...
Thanks guys!

yes,
before flash CM 10 flash this files;
this is like installing a fresh windows os, and this will repaire your phone: inclusiv bootloaders, partitions etc

ok, and i do that by booting into download mode and flashing with odin, right?

yes ... and then you flash your firmware for your region

ok.. one last thing..
when you say firmware, what do you refer to? just the bootloader/modem? or the complete "factory image"?
does it matter if i flash a different firmware?
thanks

1. flash the files from the post #6
Bootloader -> BOOTLOADER_I9195XXUAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_shi p_MULTI_CERT.tar
PDA -> CODE_I9195XXUAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_ship_MULT I_CERT.tar
PHONE -> MODEM_I9195XXUAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_ship_MUL TI_CERT.tar
CSC -> CSC_OXA_I9195OXAAMG8_1097013_REV01_user_low_ship_M ULTI_CERT.tar
PIT -> CSB_signed_SERRANOLTE_ONEPIT_OPEN_130523.pit
2. then you flash firmware for your region, you can take the firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9195 ,
in my case my region is COA, then i chose firmware with COA; in your case probably is another region, your need to find your region on the box of the phone (is something like GT-i9195ZKACOA)
3. then if you want flash again CM 10.1
please feedback if work

solution:
Hi,
so thanks bog and arcos. what i did in the end:
boot into download mode, plugin to odin
select bootloader from the factory firmware that bog posted (thanks for that!)
select phone baseband from samsung-updates latest build (because there was a newer version.. AMH4 is what i have as baseband now)
all the files that were flashed by the update.zip from the OP have been replaced basically.
i didnt bother reflashing a full rom, and it works flawlessly now.
i guess i got lucky and thanks again!

New EURO Firmware - P1000XXJM6 - UPDATED

You are flashing the below at YOUR OWN RISK
This is only for the Euro version, at&t version, T-mobile version or any other GSM version of the Tab. this is NOT for any CDMA version.
This is a new Tab firmware that just leaked out (P1000XXJM6)
So far the know pros are:
1) THE BROWSER IF FINALLY FIXED! it is very smooth even with flash. i am very impressed.
2) Users are reporting new widgets.
3) The drop down drawer is smoother.
4) New readers hub
5) tweaked email client
6) better camera focus?
7) ROM feels very smooth.
Update 11/29/2010
This is an updated package which should be safer to flash via Odin.
All credits are going to Richthofen who compiled this package for us.
As it seems that original package posted in this thread was not intended to be flashed via Odin.
Samsung has introduced a new FW programming method which also supports the upcoming phones. I don´t know if it is already supported by the newest Kies version.
The new format is basically the same as Odin only smarter with a few tricks and more stable.
Richthofen has prepared a new package for us that is flashable via Odin and should work much better with less problems.
Below are the download links and instructions for everything you need to flash P1000XXJM6.
1) Download the the file HERE and extract the it
2) Inside the ZIP you will find Odin 1.7 + PIT file + PDA +Modem + CSC files.
3) Open Odin, select the PIT file + PDA + Modem + CSC into their respective places.
4) Make sure repartition is CHECKED.
5) put the phone in download mode and connect it to your computer. start flashing.
6) The device will reboot. If you are getting tons of FC's on boot, reboot into recovery and do a factory reset.
Done.
** You can root using SuperOneClick method. Other methods do not work at this time.
**If you are on at&t and using the at&t model, please reflash the Bell modem to gain 850Mhz back.
clubtech said:
Please be advised that i have not yet tested this firmware so i don't know if it works and i am not responsible if it bricks your Tab!!!
The brave ones are welcome to try and report back.
It was originally labeled as P1000XXJM9 on the Samsung FUS server however it looks like it is P1000XXJM6.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/OO6CWYBQYN
Release date: 11/25/2010
Flash: latest Odin with no repartition (as this does not look like it is a full flash). No PIT file needed as it is not a full flash.

Ok,
Got the latest version installed by flashing the latest update with odin, then flashing dbdata.rfs afterwards....
only thing is, it's now causing launcherpro and other apps to force close, so I'm going to re-flash JJ4 / JK5 clean then re-apply this update.

[Guide] Install New Modem (Baseband) on Note 8.0 GT-N5100, GT-N5110, GT-N5120.

Installing a new modem for you Note 8.0
The below guide assumes you have:
1. Rooted your device. If you don't know what this is, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389973
2. Have a custom Recovery installed (not stock recovery). An example of a recovery program for the Note 8.0 is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2287802
3. BACKED UP YOUR ORIGINAL ROM (including the EFS folder) VIA NANDROID BACKUP. Do not skip this step. If you do not know what a "Nandroid" is, you should not go any further. Read here if you are clueless: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389973
The process of flashing a modem (baseband) over another modem is as follows:
1. Extract a modem.bin file from a stock ROM of choice. You can find your countries "Modem" file in the stock Samsung ROMs by simply downloading a stock ROM from SamMobile (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/) for your country/carrier, and then use a zip program (like 7Zip) to explore the ROM contents, and find the "modem.bin" file from that. Make a copy, and place onto your Note 8 (internal or external SD card).
Alternatively, you can access Civato's modem collection by reading the post below this one by Civato (Thanks Civ).
2. Make sure you purchase the "Mobile Odin" app from Play store.
3. In Mobile Odin, find the "Modem" menu, select it, then navigate to the file called "modem.bin" that you got from the Stock Samsung ROM for your region.
4. After selecting, it will return you to the main Mobile Odin menu. Select "Flash Firmware" menu item.
5. Check the box that has "Wipe Davlik cache" so it is on.
6. Mobile Odin will now flash the modem.bin file.
7. If you check your Settings-->About device you will find that your baseband has not updated (well it didn't for me).
8. Press and hold the power button on the Note 8, and the recovery menu should come up (if you are using Philz or TWRP recovery). Select "Reboot". Then a 4-way reboot option menu comes up. Select "Reboot into recovery".
9. Device will then shutdown and go into recovery. As it does so, it actually flashes the modem file at this point.
10. Restart will occur automatically, and android files will be updated.
11. After it boots, a check of the settings will reveal the baseband has been updated.
12. Done.
Thanks to cherryanne who pointed out the direction.

Hey Civ
I wanted to stay on your ROM, but I lost WiFi scanning ability to detect one network here. On stock, I can find both the access point & the router. On FlexBeam, I lose the router in the scan. So I am stuck on connecting to only one access point. I thus went back to stock ROM
When you have the aroma settings, we have to select a region. Unfortunately U.K. is the only one I can select, and I wonder if this cuts out the Australian modem (if modem has any impact on WiFi). All I know is that on Stock, I can connect to the router and on Flex I cannot.
I really appreciate your work on this, and am NOT complaining. Just saying why I reverted back to stock on what is otherwise a solid ROM experience.

Hi Civ. Not much luck unfortunately with the flash of the Australian CSC file (it did flash, I could select it, but WiFi still not performing as well as stock). WiFi can only find one of the routers and not the other as it can under Stock Rom. Very frustrating as it doesn't make any sense (especially as I loaded your rom after the stock Rom, so it should have the right Modem).
Don't know what else I can do. I have tried your latest ROM 3.6.2 with the above, and no luck. Anything I may have missed?

I had the same problem when I flashed the ROM. But then I found a method to get it going. Here is what you need to do:
Step 1: Extract Modem.bin from official firmware. (I got it from Sammobile)
Step 2: Use Winrar or any other compressing software and extract Modem.bin
Step 3: Use Odin and Flash the same. (Note : You should flash the bin File in Phone not in PDA) :highfive:
Hope it works.

that mean I have to extract the modem.bin from the stock firmware and flash it via odin?
Extract the modem.bin?
MàЙoЦ said:
I had the same problem when I flashed the ROM. But then I found a method to get it going. Here is what you need to do:
Step 1: Extract Modem.bin from official firmware. (I got it from Sammobile)
Step 2: Use Winrar or any other compressing software and extract Modem.bin
Step 3: Use Odin and Flash the same. (Note : You should flash the bin File in Phone not in PDA) :highfive:
Hope it works.
Special thanks to Dhiru1602 for teaching me basics
Best Regards

S7 Active AT&T - Oreo

Does anyone have an idea when the S7 active potentially might see Oreo via OTA update?
Is it hard to install on your own via root or whatever?
Thanks.

you can already use stock recovery to flash it... Just make sure you flash the previous OTA updates until BRB5 are the last 4 characters of your baseband in settings -> about -> software info
I'm running the first oreo listed on that link on my S7 Active, not sure if the others will work, but once you are on BRB5, just copy the oreo zip to the root of your MICRO SD card, reboot into stock recovery, select install zip from sd card, and select the file... to do this, you cannot be rooted, if your system status shows as custom, flash nougat with odin... if you need it the odin files as well asall previous OTA updates are listed in the website as well. Just remove /OTA/Oreo from the end of the url
https://cloud.mail.ru/public/BGy7/gKs4xzhRE/OTA/Oreo/
let me know how it goes, i'm happy with it, it has the S8 style launcher and app icons, and the new AOD, but unfortunately, no live infinity wallpapers :/
remember to hit thanks

There is no s7 active oreo rom in ODIN flashable format available yet, but you can update by flashing nougat, and flashing two ota flashable zip files in stock recovery. If you go to this website, and click the blue download button, you can extract the downloaded file with 7zip, or winrar, and flash the md5 files in ODIN, and you will then be on stock android nougat. You can then copy this zip file to your phone's external micro sd card, without extracting it, and use stock recovery mode (turn off, then volume up + home + power) to "apply update from sd card", or if you don't have a micro sd card, click "apply update from adb" and look up "how to use adb sideload" on google. Once it's done updating, do the same thing with this zip file, using stock recovery and "apply update from sd card" or using "apply update from ADB", and you will be on android 8.0 oreo. you can always use the first file you downloaded to go back to stock nougat if you don't like oreo, but it's working great for me!

It should work, make sure you have the usb drivers installed, the LATEST VERSION of odin (older versions may get stuck), and make sure your phone is in download mode (hold down power + volume down + home until a blue screen appears. click volume up). Then, open odin, connect your phone, and add the four .tar.md5 files extracted from the link you quoted. It works for me, but if it doesn't, try this file instead. let me know how it goes

Oh, i see. You're on bootloader version 3. In that case, there is most likely nothing you can do to fix the phone. Just wait patiently for an odin flashable version of oreo for the s7 active, which should have bootloader 3 out of the box, and that should work. At this point, it is simply a waiting game. I really can't do anything for you, wish I could, but I unfortunately do not have the knowledge to modify bootloader versions yet. So, patience is key. Cheers!

actually, has anyone confirmed if unlocking the aboot allows bootloader downgrades on the s7 active? i also found this on the download site: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/BGy7/gKs4xzhRE/root/unlockg891aboot.tar
Try flashing this in the AP slot in odin to unlock the aboot partition, then flash the nougat from the link i gave before, using just the AP file from the firmware in the AP slot, and don't use the BL, CP, OR CSC slots

I tried it before, does not work, either, actually I tried everything on the site.lol
i have an idea.... i'll try taking a backup of my working oreo installation and converting it into a flashable tar file for odin...
can you tell me what error the phone shows when you try to flash the nougat? does it have a sw rev check fail or secure check fail?

i realize now that the issue with my idea is... root... root is not achieved on oreo yet... and the firmware.mobi website upload to dropbox doesn't work, just refreshes after clicking start upload. So i'm stuck. But, if somebody could provide an image i could flash to root oreo on the s7 active, i will be able to make an odin .tar.md5
but i can not without root :/
One other thing you could try is extracting the ota zip for oreo you previously had, take the boot.img from it, compress the boot.img into a tar file, and then try flashing that with odin, in the AP slot. let me know how it goes, my phone is in a boot loop cause i tried an older root method :/
luckily, i used an earlier oreo OTA file, so i'm still on BL2

Ok, after lots of digging through the ota zip, i believe i may have one step towards a solution.
But i need you to check it, as if it does work, it will update my phone to bootloader 3, which i would rather not do, since you already have bootloader 3, and it can't worsen the situation
now that i think about it, i could try flashing this on my currently installed marshmallow, after rooting, then try making the odin .tar.md5, but with the bootloader 3, so you can downgrade back to marshmallow. what do you think?
Try flashing the attached bootloader file, which i made for bootloader 3:
let me know if it works, thanks.. i might have a method for the system, too
EDIT NO STOP! i forgot a bin file, fixing now
EDIT 2 OK, SHOULD BE ALL GOOD NOW!
EDIT 3 I'M BRICKED NOW, but did see the new bootloader android logo at the bottom after flashing, then black screen qualcomm 9008

Hey I'm already running BRB5, do i need to rename the zip to update.zip or anything like that? also how do I send it to the root of the sd card, I just copied it into the regular file, does it need to be sent through a computer?

Oh that sucks, is there any way to flash it back to original stock through adb? I think I'll just wait for the software update to come through the carrier, I don't wanna risk that
AND THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLY!! I was minutes away from flashing CRD4, you saved me big time

How to get back to my stock version.

Hello people, I am new putting together posts, so I apologize if this should not go like this. Install a custom rom and now I would like to go back to how it was before. I am not sure what I have to look at, or The firmware that I have to download. Thank you very much and greetings.

Yes, I know I have to flash for Odin. the issue is that I'm not sure which firmware I have to download haha
You have to download the stock firmware, I use samfirm.js you can use other tools though, when you donwload it, you should see 5 MD5 files, you need only 4 of them, the AP, BL, CP and CSC files. Flash them according to their name using odin.
