How is your extended battery holding up? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, I just wanted to know how are your extended batteries (not samsung) holding up and how long have you had them. I was thinking about buying this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Extended-Inte...463910&sr=8-1&keywords=i9250+extended+battery
I wanted to know how they hold up after say 6 months of use. Just wanted to get your feedback on this before buying it, I won't bother if a couple months down the road it needs to be replaced.

Sorry wrong forum, mod please close/delete, will move to the Q&A thread.

Holding up pretty well, this is on Vanir. 2000mah extended battery that came with my phone.

My 2100mAh Verizon battery is holding up good. There isn't much difference between the stock (1750 or 1800) and the extended. Probably a few hours.
Rom and Kernel combinations REALLY make a big difference such as either being dead at 5pm or midnight. Right now I'm on 4.3 AOKP and battery seems to be super.

i completely agree, i seldom use the original battery nowadays, i just have it charged in my bag as backup. Try Vanir, stock kernel, bast battery life on any ROM I've used.

Extended battery

Hello guys,
has someone this extended battery or heard of it?
http://www.ebay.de/itm/EXTENDED-ORI...693?pt=DE_Handy_PDA_Akkus&hash=item2c5f26030d
Price seems to be very good but the battery isn't from Murgan or an other big company.
Should I better get a 2nd stock battery?
I need one quite fast as I'm going on a 17 hours bus trip with school soon and the stuck battery can't last that long...
Regards,
Flo
If I was in your position, I'd get myself 2 extra stock batteries.
One of these might be useful:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/10/11/sony-announces-cp-a2ls-and-cp-els-smartphone-usb-chargers/
Sounds very promising but they aren't released yet and I need it untill the end of next week.
2 extra stock batteries are bit too expensive and carrying + charging 3 batteries with one phone will be hard, too as we do a lot of stuff there so I won't have time as I'm going to use my Arc as my camera, too. Don't want to carry my cam with me, too...
Will decide me untill today in the evening.
Hopefully one of the users here who has the extended battery can say if it's worth it or not untill then.

Just bought the extended one.
Even if it's a bad one it should have the same mAh as the stock battery, at least I do hope that xD

Any news on this extended battery, i am intrigued
Used it one time. Seems a little bit better but Arc looks super ugly with it - I'd say a second stock battery is better.
Sitting in the bus on the way back atm and my stock battery is almost empty so I'm going to use it in a few mins.

I'm at that point where I'm looking at getting a new battery. I'm not looking for a MONSTER that needs a different back over... so anything between stock battery and 2000mah would nice.
Does anyone have any recommendation as to where I can get them? I might even get a charger for the extra battery.

Seido 3800 mah Battery

Guys here is my performance with the Seido big battery for the GNex.
Glad I didn't buy the RAZR Maxx. Worth every penny. Rooted stock ROM, average use, on WIFI all day, watched about an hour of YouTube.

Nice, but..that battery is pretty big and doesnt support NFC. It's also 70 bucks.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
People reach more than that I believe with stock/extended battery. I'd look into a custom from/kernel those developers do amazing work with their tweaks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I'm over seidio batteries. When I had it for my OG incredible they didn't offer any advantage over stock and were 'rated' with higher mAh.
Save your $70 and get the extended battery from VZW when it's on sale.
True it was pricey.. I never use NFC, although, I keep the stock battery and cover in the center console in the car. The extended from Verizon offered about 400 more Mah, that wasn't enough. The Seido is more than twice the stock battery. I love the matching case, I'm about 6'2" with big hands, the extended battery helps it fit in my hand.

I'm 6'3", I like the feel with the 2100mAh, the smaller 1850mAh feels a bit light...
It's all preference really though. Plus the rear case on the 3800mAh kills the aesthetics and the color doesn't even match.
I'm hoping when 4.04 gets released my battery woes are solved. So far, it looks promising.

I see the pics fine using the app.
Since I updated to 4.0.4 my battery life on stock has been much better. I'm getting 11+ hours and I don't use wifi its on 4g pretty much all day. I want and extended but not with the extra bulk.

That's pretty damn impressive, though the first half of the time used on your phone seems quite static, as if you were sleeping or just leaving your phone in hibernated mode.
Curious to know your ROM and kernel combo?
Cheers
My extended 2000 mAH battery serve me just fine (GSM model).
I got 3 hours screen on time with 3d 8h stand by time (80 hours), and still 13% left.
If I used for about 5 hours screen on time, I could get more than 2 days stand by.
Granted, the device was on WiFi most of the time.
But, when I use 100% mobile internet (0% wiFi), my record was screen on time 4h 29m, with 1d 13h stand by (37 hours).
So, it really serve me fine with my usage pattern (mostly web browsing, facebook, g+, youtube, navigation and games, little bit emails).
And still look nice!

In my honest opinion, I think the 2000 aMH is the sweet spot in terms of weight, looks and length of charge. I hold my phone in my front pants pocket so anything heavy would start to sag my pants.

Yeah the last time I had charged it was the day before, and I didn't end up charging it till the following day after the screen shots were taken so 3 days or so.
I was running Gummy with I believe either stock Kernel or if Gummy comes with a Kernel that, because I didn't flash a kernel. I went from Stock, to foxhound, to Gummy.
I have since flashed AOKP M3 but I am not getting the same battery life as I was with Gummy, so I am reflashing it today.

Same here... not to mention the problems I had with my Seidio Incredible extended batt that they went to great lengths to ignore.
I have used their batts on the Dinc and the xv6800 but this time around... screw them, their high prices and crappy service. I bought the spare battery with charger and carry the spare batt with me but hardly ever need it. With the standard bat I get by almost everyday (and this is before the 4.04 update) AND I get to use the standard case and holder with my nice slim phone.

Im in the camp of getting the Seidio 3800 battery . I already ordered it and it will be here this week . In the past its their slim extended batteries that never really amount to anything but an expensive stock battery . I had the 3500 for the HTC EVO 4G and loved it . Currently I work in a building where I get bad 3G service and only 4G . So my battery takes a beating on a daily basis . Yeah I can squeeze through a day on a full charge but thats just barely making it by . The 3800 should provide more than enough boost for me . Also got a holster and case combo with it (love discounts) . I use a holster mainly due to the fact I hate putting a phone in my pocket, also I use the phone as an mp3 player at the gym . Its right there at my side when I want to use it . I know some arent to keen to holsters but to be honest I really dont care LOL . It serves its purpose as I need it to , also the case will break up the black extended battery cover and grey metallic body of the Gnex
Totally stock, no tweaks yet. Yesterday was my day off from work, then sleep all night. Work all day today.

Razr to Nexus.

I'm getting my nexus Wednesday from Verizon. I'm on my 5th razr from 2-10-12, and they offered me a replacement device, wanted the maxx but they couldn't do it for some reason, so I'm getting the nexus. So what should I expect? Battery life, roms kernels, just the run down? Thanks for your time, and hopefully this is an upgrade! I mean i paid $200 for this razr, and they're giving me a nexus which is $300.

I'm running AOKP Milestone 4 with franco.Kernel Milestone 2... good combo according to a lot of people. Battery life you can expect to last around 3.5 hours screen on time if you have hotplug mod enabled with fraco.Kernel. I would say that the best thing about having a Nexus is the abundant updates from Google as well as the ease of modding the phone and the associated vibrant development community.
Word of advice... at the very least get your 2100 extended Verizon battery+ door. If you want to go over 4 hours on screen time get the seidio 3500mah battery with nfc. Its not pretty but you won't notice when you hold the phone. Other than that, put aokp or whatever rom and flash Franco or trinity to get your battery life up over stock. Kernel seems to have much more to do with battery life than rom but aokp seems to have the best mix of customization right now. I love trinity Kernels for battery life and the best stock color enhancement. Nice cool whites without having to mess with anything, but others swear by other kernels as well. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the options, and opinions guys! And honestly, I'm not going to get an extended life battery, one it makes the phone huge and two, I'm only 16 and can't afford one right now (paid for my razr though) but I'll mes around with the roms if I don't get what I want outta my battery. I'm only getting 4-6 hours outta my razr light use. So hopefully it'll do better, as long as I get 10-12 hours, I'll be more then happy! But it'll take time I'm sure.

I wouldn't recommend a huge 3500mAh extended. Its ugly and is a bit overkill, considering it seems your expectations are in check. I would recommend just getting the 2100mAh extended. Adds a little life and its not very expensive ($25 I believe).

Coming from a RAZR to a GNEX is a great move. You'll definitely be happy with the upgrade. The GNEX with the right ROM/Kernel combo is hands down the best device currently on the market. I grabbed the GSM version in Jan. and couldn't be happier. My only gripe is how fast the tier one devices depreciate. But hey that's the game these days. My goto setup is GummyNex ROMS & Franco Kernels. Blazing fast, buttery, silky smooth. Sick quadrant scores & decent battery life. You've made a great move The extended battery add no bulk whatsoever and is a good pickup

As far as battery life goes, while running Liquid rom with Franco Milestone 2 kernel I get excellent battery life, even with wifi and 4g. I can easily put over a day on the phone some days when I don't use it that much. But even under heavy usage I can get through the day (standard battery).
The size of the phones screen itself is really nice. I came from an Incredible 2 and I thought 4" was the sweet spot. Let me tell you now though that after a few months using this I wouldnt mind the screen being 4.8" or so. The design, in my opinion, makes it the best looking phone on the market.

I can generally browse for "a few" hours on 4G without needing to plug in. I don't pay much attention to specifics as unlike the Note 1, the Note 2 isn't very limiting for me. The Note 1 was awful for needing a micro-reactor in your pocket almost. Do you keep your battery over 90% charge often? It's possible it's getting weaker as it gets older. You can order a replacement battery cheap enough and see. They also usually come with an external charger so you could just swap batteries and go. I do that on long road trips.
Is true the replacement battery maybe hurt the phone bcse they have diferent voltage? I heard that from some guy in yhe shop.

If you get a real Samsung battery I'd think not. Make sure the voltage matches. I can't remember, is the S3 3.7V or 3.8V? I got an Anker extended battery and it improved the battery life immensely.

It depends on many different factors not just screen on and 4g on. 1% per 3 minutes equates to 300 minutes or 5 hours. I have drained my battery completely in 4 +/- hours time. It's completely normal as I have other phones to compare it with. I have another note 2, 2 galaxy s3, iPhone 4s,5s that I have tested against and they provide worse battery life in same situation.
Not all these phones are mine. I just swap it with family/friend members to test out for a day or two.
For batteries I recommend Anker. I have 2 Ankers for my note 2 and 3 Ankers for my galaxy s3.

Since I use my N2 as my laptop replacement and am on it all day, battery life was a problem for me from the beginning. I found Battery Drain Analyzer helpful. I kept it running for a couple of months and was able to determine which apps consume the most power (widgets, by far). But, after having spent hours trying different underclocking configurations without much success as far as saving a lot of power, I ended up buying three extra OEM batteries. It's really awesome to not have to worry about it. I just keep them in my pocket and swap them out as needed. It's not a very technologically advanced solution, but, it sure is effective. I also picked up this, and, obviously, now, I am never without power. Also, I use this Charger for the spares. It takes a long time to charge the batteries, but charges them fully to 100%, whereas, charging the battery in the phone doesn't seem to work as well.

Think that was the original case they reviewed? They changed it a little bit (better fit) before the release a week or two ago. They are also coming out with a rugged case in about a month.

New battery, insane battery performance

I've gone through a number of batteries and long story short, they've all sucked. Even the original stock battery was crap. I've been using this battery for almost 4 weeks and I've been getting absolutely stellar battery life. I'm well beyond that initial conditioning phase.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2450mAH-EB6..._Cell_Phone_PDA_Batteries&hash=item4ac2c14f8b
2450mah. I'm usually skeptical of higher mah ratings as you can only cram so much juice into a given form factor, but I'm left wondering if lion chemistry has really improved this much. Ever so slightly thicker than a standard stock battery (same size as the 2100mah andida if anyone else had one), but fits the stock battery back w/ a bit of manipulation. E4GT is stock GB27 (w/ root). I'll get more screenshots now that I'm really paying attention to performance.
I'm getting consistent 4hours+ of screen on time while actively using the phone. 2 google accounts, sync enabled, no kernel tricks, 'auto' screen brightness (not lowest), haven't even disabled useless apps, etc.
Sample size will soon be 2; i've ordered a 2nd battery for my wife's phone so I'll compare once it gets here.
tldr: 4+, could probably eek out 5 hours of active screen on phone use w/ a standard size (non-ugly hump) battery.
Nice I can barely get 1 hour of battery life from mine.

I'm wondering this too.
im also wondering if this is legit...not a bad investment for $7 but it wouldnt even be here for another month. I just got an epic 4g for $50 and am super satisfied with it (coming from the beast Note 2)...I'm actually surprised with its performance all around EXCEPT for the battery life. I do realize the battery and phone are close to 2 years old which is why im looking into a new battery.....
but really, selling my note 2 for 400 and picking this up for 50 is prob the best investment I ever made, saving my upgrade for "the next next big thing" :good:

Yes, you still use the same stock back the phone came with, its just tighter.
The only question in my mind is longevity, as I have purchased some knockoff batteries (sold as Samsung OEM with almost identical labeling as the original battery), that started to degrade within a month and now are useless except for short term emergencies.
Most people on these forums swear by Anker batteries, which I've never tried, but I still have Ferocity Mobile batteries (bought on ebay but no longer sold) which are still going strong. They just dont hold a candle to these 2450s,so they are my backup batteries now (have two Epic Touch phones in the family).
I will report back periodically on how they are performing over time.

Would you or OP be able to do a test on those 2450 batteries that OP has? Do you have the same type of battery as OP? If so could you please run a streaming netflix 3g test on it and see how long it runs till it drains from 100 to zero. I'm not a Netflix guy.
Bottom line: Its cheap and gets to you fairly quick considering China, so why not take a shot if you need a battery?

You're right and it does fit in the original battery cover which is awesome. For the conditioning what did you do? Did you do a full discharge then recharge 6 times?
Bought two

Figured it was worth a shot since it is so cheap.Any recommendations for methods or software to calibrate? Just charge/discharge cycles as listed above or something else?

Callibratimg doesn't do anything useful. It doesn't hurt either but it is pointless.

How about calibrating a bigger battery? I have the QCell 4100 and I was told to calibrate it everytime I pull it off the charger at 100%.

Callibratimg does nothing for the battery. It clears the battery stats. That's it. A reboot does the same thing.
