Guys here is my performance with the Seido big battery for the GNex.
Glad I didn't buy the RAZR Maxx. Worth every penny. Rooted stock ROM, average use, on WIFI all day, watched about an hour of YouTube.

Nice, but..that battery is pretty big and doesnt support NFC. It's also 70 bucks.

People reach more than that I believe with stock/extended battery. I'd look into a custom from/kernel those developers do amazing work with their tweaks

I'm over seidio batteries. When I had it for my OG incredible they didn't offer any advantage over stock and were 'rated' with higher mAh.
Save your $70 and get the extended battery from VZW when it's on sale.
True it was pricey.. I never use NFC, although, I keep the stock battery and cover in the center console in the car. The extended from Verizon offered about 400 more Mah, that wasn't enough. The Seido is more than twice the stock battery. I love the matching case, I'm about 6'2" with big hands, the extended battery helps it fit in my hand.

I'm 6'3", I like the feel with the 2100mAh, the smaller 1850mAh feels a bit light...
It's all preference really though. Plus the rear case on the 3800mAh kills the aesthetics and the color doesn't even match.
I'm hoping when 4.04 gets released my battery woes are solved. So far, it looks promising.

What rom you using?
I see the pics fine using the app.
Since I updated to 4.0.4 my battery life on stock has been much better. I'm getting 11+ hours and I don't use wifi its on 4g pretty much all day. I want and extended but not with the extra bulk.

That's pretty damn impressive, though the first half of the time used on your phone seems quite static, as if you were sleeping or just leaving your phone in hibernated mode.
Curious to know your ROM and kernel combo?
Cheers
My extended 2000 mAH battery serve me just fine (GSM model).
I got 3 hours screen on time with 3d 8h stand by time (80 hours), and still 13% left.
If I used for about 5 hours screen on time, I could get more than 2 days stand by.
Granted, the device was on WiFi most of the time.
But, when I use 100% mobile internet (0% wiFi), my record was screen on time 4h 29m, with 1d 13h stand by (37 hours).
So, it really serve me fine with my usage pattern (mostly web browsing, facebook, g+, youtube, navigation and games, little bit emails).
And still look nice!

In my honest opinion, I think the 2000 aMH is the sweet spot in terms of weight, looks and length of charge. I hold my phone in my front pants pocket so anything heavy would start to sag my pants.

Yeah the last time I had charged it was the day before, and I didn't end up charging it till the following day after the screen shots were taken so 3 days or so.
I was running Gummy with I believe either stock Kernel or if Gummy comes with a Kernel that, because I didn't flash a kernel. I went from Stock, to foxhound, to Gummy.
I have since flashed AOKP M3 but I am not getting the same battery life as I was with Gummy, so I am reflashing it today.

Same here... not to mention the problems I had with my Seidio Incredible extended batt that they went to great lengths to ignore.
I have used their batts on the Dinc and the xv6800 but this time around... screw them, their high prices and crappy service. I bought the spare battery with charger and carry the spare batt with me but hardly ever need it. With the standard bat I get by almost everyday (and this is before the 4.04 update) AND I get to use the standard case and holder with my nice slim phone.

Im in the camp of getting the Seidio 3800 battery . I already ordered it and it will be here this week . In the past its their slim extended batteries that never really amount to anything but an expensive stock battery . I had the 3500 for the HTC EVO 4G and loved it . Currently I work in a building where I get bad 3G service and only 4G . So my battery takes a beating on a daily basis . Yeah I can squeeze through a day on a full charge but thats just barely making it by . The 3800 should provide more than enough boost for me . Also got a holster and case combo with it (love discounts) . I use a holster mainly due to the fact I hate putting a phone in my pocket, also I use the phone as an mp3 player at the gym . Its right there at my side when I want to use it . I know some arent to keen to holsters but to be honest I really dont care LOL . It serves its purpose as I need it to , also the case will break up the black extended battery cover and grey metallic body of the Gnex
Totally stock, no tweaks yet. Yesterday was my day off from work, then sleep all night. Work all day today.

No, it's just a menu option to view battery usage.
I can vouch for this battery, it freakin rocks! & It's a few bucks cheaper now, I got it at $15 shipped a while back.
I was on Fasty 2.3 when I tested the battery, medium usage overall...heavy texting though.
Edit: Hmmmm....now that I see that picture, I wonder why my phone didn't include stats for my WiFi or calls or stuff like that. Weird.
Not to be a Debbie-Downer, but out of four of these that I have received, only one seems to put out more juice that the OEM batt. That being said, I love the one that works!
I ordered a pair of these from ebay. One wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few minutes. I contacted the seller and told them that one of the batteries was bad. They ended up sending two more as a replacement. Out of the four, one is great (I would guess maybe 2500 mAh?), one is around the same as the OEM battery, one I get constant reboots with, and the one that doesn't hold a charge.
I love my one that works. It was well worth it for the price, but clearly there are some quality issues going on.
thinking about getting one of these if I go on a larger trip. I allready have a spare 1650mAh Battery though.

It's just good to know I can use my phone heavily and not run out of battery before the day's end. Of course if you're playing graphic intense games then that will never be possible.
I might check this out. Ever since I got on the 2.3.4 gingerbread roms and running Dark Core/Talon my battery life has gone to crap.

I received my bad boy today. I cut my rubber case so it protrudes out, and I honestly don't mind it. It makes holding the phone somewhat nicer, than a flat brick. I charged it for only 2 hours, but now i'm letting it go for 8. Then i'll wipe stats and whatnot. But it's pretty damned nice so far. When I received it, it was at 45%, and it took atleast two hours of 3d games to bring it to 25%. I'm really amazed this was $10, and I paid for faster shipping ($5).
It seems really worth the price, and I would like to thank the poster again for mentioning this.

You're very welcome. I'm glad you are having good results also. I've been using this for about a week now, still getting great performance.
I can attest to this battery as well. It just wont die. I have had it for the last 3 days, and each charge cycle that I give it brings more time to the battery. I went from being at 32% after a full day on the stock battery with moderate usage, to 60% with this battery today on heavy to almost excessive use. I'm talking, videos on youtube, Downloading apps, texting, calling, music ect. All of this is on Fasty II 2.1 and its just incredible to see my phone go for so long now.
Just ordered mine But going to use latest Stable of Miui
I can also attest to the excellant performance of this battery. I just got mine last night. First thing I did was charge it with the phone off to 100%. I played 3d games for about 30 minutes, watched a 2 hour movie, about 30 minutes of internet browsing, used gps for 30 minutes on my way to work this morning, and have been listening to pandora for the pass 2 hours and I'm at 52%!!! My previous battery would have been DEAD by now. For 15 bucks this battery is a no brainer! I'm sure as others have posted that the battery life will only improve once I calibrate it and charge it a few more times.
Thanks to the OP.
I can get over a day on the stock battery!

I'm running AOKP Milestone 4 with franco.Kernel Milestone 2... good combo according to a lot of people. Battery life you can expect to last around 3.5 hours screen on time if you have hotplug mod enabled with fraco.Kernel. I would say that the best thing about having a Nexus is the abundant updates from Google as well as the ease of modding the phone and the associated vibrant development community.
Word of advice... at the very least get your 2100 extended Verizon battery+ door. If you want to go over 4 hours on screen time get the seidio 3500mah battery with nfc. Its not pretty but you won't notice when you hold the phone. Other than that, put aokp or whatever rom and flash Franco or trinity to get your battery life up over stock. Kernel seems to have much more to do with battery life than rom but aokp seems to have the best mix of customization right now. I love trinity Kernels for battery life and the best stock color enhancement. Nice cool whites without having to mess with anything, but others swear by other kernels as well. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the options, and opinions guys! And honestly, I'm not going to get an extended life battery, one it makes the phone huge and two, I'm only 16 and can't afford one right now (paid for my razr though) but I'll mes around with the roms if I don't get what I want outta my battery. I'm only getting 4-6 hours outta my razr light use. So hopefully it'll do better, as long as I get 10-12 hours, I'll be more then happy! But it'll take time I'm sure.

I wouldn't recommend a huge 3500mAh extended. Its ugly and is a bit overkill, considering it seems your expectations are in check. I would recommend just getting the 2100mAh extended. Adds a little life and its not very expensive ($25 I believe).

Coming from a RAZR to a GNEX is a great move. You'll definitely be happy with the upgrade. The GNEX with the right ROM/Kernel combo is hands down the best device currently on the market. I grabbed the GSM version in Jan. and couldn't be happier. My only gripe is how fast the tier one devices depreciate. But hey that's the game these days. My goto setup is GummyNex ROMS & Franco Kernels. Blazing fast, buttery, silky smooth. Sick quadrant scores & decent battery life. You've made a great move The extended battery add no bulk whatsoever and is a good pickup

As far as battery life goes, while running Liquid rom with Franco Milestone 2 kernel I get excellent battery life, even with wifi and 4g. I can easily put over a day on the phone some days when I don't use it that much. But even under heavy usage I can get through the day (standard battery).
The size of the phones screen itself is really nice. I came from an Incredible 2 and I thought 4" was the sweet spot. Let me tell you now though that after a few months using this I wouldnt mind the screen being 4.8" or so. The design, in my opinion, makes it the best looking phone on the market.
Hey y'all,
new here to the gnex forums from nexus s and I just wanted to share with y'all my experience with this battery.
Well, I'm on my third deep cycle to initially condition the battery and I gotta tell ya...
IT RULES.
I bought the battery after reading some reviews giving it decent feedback. It's on ebay from a company seller called "ShimShop".
It arrived in just about a week and I'm very satisfied.
The battery and extended door make the phone feel slightly heavier and more solid in your hand, It fits in both commuter and defender series otterboxs, but I suggest commuter.
I've been throuroghly impressed today as the battery has only drained 10% in 7 hours with 30 minutes of screen time. All my sync settings are enabed, running stock aosp 4.1.2 alongside franco's m6 kernel with his optimized settings.
I encourage EVERYONE to buy this battery. The stock gave me decent battery life, but this one seems much better thus far.

You don't need to do any conditioning of modern batteries, just use it. I've been using the extended battery in my new GNex and it's going on forever from my normal charging habits
In the beginning it gave me around 2-2.5 days worth of battery per charge which was fantastic. The extended battery weighed about 3x the stock battery for outputting almost 2x. I liked the fact that it lifted the phone up so it wouldn't damage the camera lense (since the lense does stick out past the back cover). It was the same plastic as the rest of the phone so it made the phone look stock.
But after about 5 months, the battery capacity greatly decreased to the point where I was getting about 7 hours until I received the 20% battery warning. This battery was preforming worst than the stock battery.
So in the end I went back to the stock battery. What was everyone else's experience with these extended batteries?
Thanks. I was just shopping for an extended battery this morning. My stock battery is still doing okay after 14 months, but I wanted something to counter the effect ICS has had. I saw Seido's on sale at Newegg and was about to pull the trigger, I'll hold off until I hear more.

Would you mind indicating exactly which 3800mAh battery you are reviewing?
Cell phone batteries and memory cards both suffer from a large amount of poor-product masquerading as quality. Reviews of this type of product are not actually helpful unless they identify the specific product, brand, and even seller.
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if I purchased an extended battery for $10 and it started to go bad after 5-6 months. As comparison, my stock battery went bad after about 13 months. While paying more doesn't guarantee that you'll get something great, it is generally true in my experience that you get what you pay for.

Yeah, after three trexcells, two that need to be thrown out because of bulging, I just got a qcell 4100. I know the number means nothing. It said to do 6 full charge and discharge cycles in the beginning, and let the first one charge for nine hours. I'm on my second charge so far. Don't know if it's true but I read somewhere to charge with the phone off. The first charge ran reaaaly long before dying. Don't know if it was bad batteries or bad external chargers, but both my Samsung externals would only charge the trexcells to 95%, even if it was a 12+ hour charge.
Here I am about 4-5 months in on my 3800 batteries. 1 trexcell and 2 generic. Far as comparing to stock? Stock batteries make me sick now. They drain so much faster. The big ones amaze me how long they last. I do rotate the stockers in so they dont sit and go bad. So ill have a few days of extended then stock then extended ect. The performace of extended is so good I now see the big lump as sexy! I did find a great use for my stockers. (have 4) I was in my best friends wedding the other day and with no case and slim battery the phone slid in tux pocket easy lol. +1 but half way through reception I had to drunken walk way out to car and get spare -1. Right now as I set im about to hit 2 days on Trexcell on the newest Jellyverse sitting at 37% +20.
I'm thinking of buying a bigger battery for my GNex for better battery life.
I found a normal sized one of 2450MAh (http://dx.com/p/replacement-3-7v-2450mah-li-ion-battery-for-samsung-galaxy-nexus-i9250-golden-215299)
and one that is 3800MAh (http://dx.com/p/replacement-3-7v-38...e-for-samsung-galaxy-nexus-prime-i9250-127595) but heavier, and bigger is size such that it needs a different cover (that comes with it).
What are you guy's thoughts on it? Forget the price, is the extra weight and bulkier phone worth the 3800MAh? Or should I go for 2450MAh? Perhaps I should just stick to the stock battery that came with it? Please give your opinions and reason why.
Cheers
I think you should stick with stock. If you play around a bit you van get a full day out of the battery. That's pretty decent for a smartphone. With the stock battery your phone stays slim and light. If you do want a extended battery I should go with the 2450 mah. Than you have a good balance between battery life and weight. 3800 mah seems too over the top to me.

Are we talking GSM or LTE here? Because that's a dream come true to have a full days use on the LTE variant with stock battery. I need to charge this bastard 3+ times a day on moderate to heavy use.

Dont buy those "golden batteries" , they can harm ur device, better go with orignal 2100 mah from samsung

Also these golden batteries probably don't support NFC.

I'm not content with my 1750 mAh battery, so I ordered a 3800 mAh extended battery. It will probably degrade after half a year if not earlier. But heck it was only €13 and thats like nothing for 6 months. The looks are horrible (from what I've seen on the internet), but I'll get used to it.

Can harm, or will harm (confirmed)? And how is it that it can harm the phone? By delivering more than the mentioned voltage?
Oh, thanks. I just started looking into these batteries; didn't realize there is an official extended battery.
Oh, and I don't care about NFC, I never use it anyway. Heck, I don't even know how to use it haha.

I guess €13 is cheap spread over 6 months, but there that's not all there is to it right? The 3800 needs a different cover, so no more casing will fit on the phone isn't it? There is the hassle of having to order a battery from overseas every 6 months, and not to forget, the phone will become bulkier, heavier and uglier :/
If the 3800 battery degrades that fast (is this confirmed?), does the 2450 too?

I can only last a day with stock battery with light use (GSM version). Otherwise I also have to charge it 2/3 times a day with heavy use. That's why I'm looking into these batteries.
A noob question. Does "extended battery" always mean you need a different back cover because of it's increased thickness? I know it's the case for the 3800, but also for the 2450???

well the 3800 is thicker than 2450 so it will need a bigger case
I once got 6hrs of screen-on time with a Seidio 3800MaH battery. I kid you not.

6 hours screen-on from 3800? With what connectivity settings turned on?
I kind of found the answers to my own questions. 2450 needs a new cover too, because it is slightly thicker than the stock battery. Every battery that has a different thickness need a special cover for it.
With different size covers, you need different casing too. While I found nice casings for 3700-3900 type covers, and quite nice casings for 2000-2500 type covers, I've seen almost nothing but complains about the batteries themselves. Not deliveries the promised MAh (from the start) or performance degrading very fast are very common complains. Some even talk of overheating, and ofcourse many don't support NFC (which I don't use).
I can't trust the battery will do what it says it will do anymore :/ I'll stick with the stock OEM battery. I'm now considering buying a power bank/portable battery charger. In a way it also gives me longer battery life - when I want/need it. Plus side is also that others can make use of it too.
Oh, and just for the hell of it. Check out this monster extended battery people: http://www.amazon.com/ZeroLemon-Ext...=1-1&keywords=samsung+galaxy+nexus+zero+lemon It's the only extended battery I've found so far that I consider buying. Very good (and many) reviews too. *EDIT* It's only for the LTE Nexus, not GSM... */EDIT* But it's price is a little high for me...
It was quite impressive actually.
I had the used the phone particularly heavily that day, and suffice to say, I was quite.. Well, impressed.

Appearantly not all Nexus batteries are the same? I'm using the GSM Nexus. Tell me if I understand this correctly, but CDMA Nexus is from Verizon, and LTE Nexus is from Sprint, and both are not GSM devices, meaning their battery (LxW dimensions) are not the same? How about these Nexus from T-mobile? Are they GSM?
Meh for me the bulky back of the phone doesn't matter. It's not like you're looking at it all the time.

I don't care much about the look either, but the weight, size, and especially difficulty in finding a good case for it, I do care about.
And external battery (power bank) is cheaper for the amount of MAh you get, gets to much higher amount of MAh (10000MAh is quite common), can charge any devices (that need 1A or 2A input to charge) and mutiple devices simultaneously (unless you got a real cheap one). So for me I'm sticking with the power bank. A cheap one like this one can already completely charge your nexus from 0: http://dx.com/p/swpkpower-a22620-rechargeable-2600mah-mobile-power-bank-w-aroma-white-228492
