[Q] Do you notice battery drain while overclocking? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So has anyone overclocked their t989 passed 1.5GHz and noticed any major battery drain? I was wondering how far you can really go up, max being 1.89GHz and at what point do you really notice abnormal battery drain?

[Q] Any1 underclock + undervolt?

If so, does it help your battery life? and share your settings please
underclocking to 800mhz has no impact on performance AT ALL unless your playing games even still, not much of a difference.
has a pretty good battery advantage with that being said. I keep mine underclocked to 800mhz and have no issues lasting pretty much the whole day with moderate to heavy use

Overclock Nexus CPU?

Will it be possible?
From anyone in the know, are we far off from a CPU OC kernel?
why?! The battery life is mediocre as it is!
Undervolt/underclock could be useful tho.

the screen and the radios are what drain the battery the most.
overclocking won't make a big dent on battery life. but better clock speed management may actually improve battery life.
To answer the OP's question, It's inevitable. the chip is a TI-OMAP, and the original Droid came clocked at 550mhz but was a 600mhz chip. It was able to Overclock to 1.1-1.3GHz stable depending on the persons phone.
I'm not saying we'll see a 100% increase on the Nexus, but It's hard to imagine not getting past 1.6 GHz considering the chip is actually 1.5GHz.

[Q] Can massive battery drain be from undervolting?

I've been fooling around with undervolting.
When setting them -25mV nothing much seems to happen, no gain or loss. But when I set them -50mV or lower, I get a massive battery drain.
Is this a normal problem?
I don't crash or anything, the battery just doesn't last.
The very act of undervolting should be saving you battery, because undervolting makes it so that you use less energy at each clock speed.

It can, if services start crashing in the background and it voids deep sleep mode. You'd better just leave it default or try to nip off v's in the maximum freq department.

Overclocking my dhd

i have some questions on overclocking
1 . How to overclock
2 . Which app to use
3 . The long term effects and the device life expectancy
1. Some ROMs have it built in. You choose a higher speed than your phone default.
2. I have used No-Frills or the ROM's built in one.
3. I have OCed my DHD to 1.5 safely, but every phone is different. If it acts oddly lower the speed. And overclocking too much can reduce the life of the hardware.
I'm considering overclocking as well. Sometimes my phone slows down noticeable during scrolling through settings, I'm wondering if overclocking will solve that problem and if it has a big impact on battery life.

It probably will help, and it does impact battery life somewhat.

[Q] battery is very hot

Hi,
When I use from my phone and run game (not high end) ,back of my phone getting very hot and burning my hand.
life time battery without play gaming and just send several sms and little talking is one day also i installed power saver app.
What can i do about it? battery is corrupted? or is other problem?
please help, i buying this phone 20 days before.
thank you
I was having the same issues when I first got my G Pro... I called LG tech support and they Had me do a soft reset....
Pull out the battery with the phone on.
Leave the battery out for 5 minutes.
Replace the battery, and turn in G Pro..
Solved my hot battery problem....
The main culprit is the ondemand governor that kicks up the CPU frequencies to max (1.7GHz) with just the slightest touch. Doesn't matter what kind of games you play, it's still stressing the CPU. Since we don't have any stable / feature rich kernels providing the better governors, interactive is the best bet to reduce heat and save battery life while not making a noticeable hit on performance. Only noticed a 2 fps drop when doing the benchmark on Epic Citadel with it on the highest quality. Still nice and smooth!
