I know a lot are having audio issues when making or receiving a call for whatever reason on 4.3 ROMs, well a workaround I found is you need to plug in your headphones in and use those, or once the call is connected unplug headphones and you'll retain call audio

Just recently I have noticed that whenever I unplug headphones from the audio jack, the media volume goes all the way down and I have to manually raise it. Anyone have any ideas/solutions for this?

Are you using a sense rom or cyanogenmod? On sense rom it does that to me as well, but if you use cm6 or 7 go to dsp manager and edit the headphones settings and it saves your preferences. Also try adjusting the volume settings in the sound settings instead of using the volume keys. I think this is what you're asking about.

I am using MikFroYo 4.4. The thing is, this started roughly a week ago. Prior, I have had no volume issues whatsoever.

Per chance might the quality of your headphones be dying? Or potentially a dirty jack?
Well, the thing is, it isn't when I am using the headphones. It is after I unplug them and use the built in speaker. For example, I use the aux in on my car stereo to listen to music on my way to work. When I unplug the Evo once I get to work, the media volume has essentially muted itself and I have to manually raise it.

Well if you're using a Cyanogen mod, check you sound settings in settings>cyanogenmod settings>sound
and check for the "when headset" in parameters, seems as if that may be the issue. The db could be altered via headphones in or out.
Well, I am using Mikfroyo 4.4, so I don't have that option.

Has anyone tried htcs Bluetooth adapter with their s3 for steaming apt-x audio?

I just got the HTC A100 for my S3 and it sounds pretty darn good! I'm not 100% sure if it's streaming in apt-x audio, i'm assuming it is? Good bass and treble, definitely worth $50. It's so nice to worry about just 1 cable to connect to the phone too, looks clean on my dashboard.

Does phone calls go through it as well or just music and GPS? I am wanting to get it but I want it to do every thing my cord does.

Wouldn't the bluetooth take of it all?

No unfortunately phone calls don't go through the speakers, you have to answer it like normal usage but I also have it paired with Bluetooth headset I use in car so it wasn't a big problem for me. In most case phone's paired with built in car Bluetooth anyways so it works fine that way too.

Do you have to connect it every time you get in the car or does it automatically connect and if you take a phone call does the music stop and start back up after? Is there any thing you really like or hate about it? Thank you in advance. I would just go buy one and try all this out myself but there is not a store here that has them.

It has built in automatic shut off to save battery life when not in use, once it's turned off automatically or manually by pressing the control button till red light blink once, you have to press the button again to turn it on and it will pair with your device. When you get a phone call music stops and plays back after the phone call. So far I don't think I find anything negative. It's very compact, good battery hours and sounds good, if there is one thing, I wish I could check how much battery life is left. Only notification is when the battery is low red led light turns on.

Almost everytime i plug headphones into my Galaxy S III, no sound plays into them. What i noticed, is that when i try to turn up the volume, the little sound icon that is next to the volume bar, has a slash through it. I have tried every combination of sound setting (that i know of) and the only way to fix it is a restart. This is VERY annoying so if anyone has any thoughts or help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Are you using any sound app?

I've had that slash through the sound icon as well. But I was still getting sound through my headphones.. but you were saying how you get no sound at all coming out of both headphones if they are plugged in as well as the speaker phone?

Try changing the SoundAlive setting in Music Player.
Also try changing these:
Settings > Accessory > Audio Output and Audio Applications.
Settings > Accessibility > Mono Audio
Have you tried different headphones? How about the ones which came with the S3?

Well if the stock ones work then it sounds like the problem may be with the earphones you are using. Can you try them in another phone? (Preferably another s3) are they older earphones? If so it could be the cord is worn where it connects to the plug.

Literally the most annoying thing in the world - whenever I put my phone in my pocket, it'll usually unplug for a second, pause my music, change the media volume, then replay my music. This happens with all of my headphones, with my AUX cable, even with the headset blocker app.
Basixally the headphone jack is extremely sensitive. Is this just me? Is my phone defective?

Sounds like a hardware defect, grounds for replacement.

Do you have any kind of sound manager such as DSP manager/Beats/VooDoo?
Been happening to me too im thinking its because I have walkman app and regular samsung music player. If you have 2 music players try deleting one and see if that helps. Im on jedi rom btw.

Nope, but I'm using the PowerAmp EQ if that counts for anything.

I can't be sure if it's me but sometimes I get really bad sound quality on phone calls after flashing any audio mod. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks.

There is only one audio mod which has no effect on phone calls for me, its "Awesome Beats".
All the others I tried or those which are built into custom roms with the except of Beats distorts
the phone call incoming voice unless I turn the audio way down making it way too quiet.
None of the audio mods have any effect on the out-going voice.
It's actually 2 for me. Whether it's been merged into the ROM or installed as a 3rd party app, Awesome Beats and Noozxoide has had no affect on call quality. That just goes to show how different each device really is lol

Strange, I thought I tested em all, but I have never heard of Noozxoide until I read your post.
I will have to give it a try, our devices are really not that different...
It's just that I never heard of Noozxoide til now.
It's pretty good, not the BEST but it definitely makes a difference.
Every device, even the same model, can very well handle ROMs, kernels, mods, scripts, binaries, etc.. differently and that's what I was referring to.
You know this though.
