[Q] Problems with RUU - HTC One X

hi
Its difficult to explain but i try.
In phone was installed cyagenmod 10.1. I decided to install stock rom. First i locked bootlader and then try to install RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed
But now i get error when i try install that RUU update. Error 140, bootloader version error. Phone is now totaly empty. Even no CWM recovery.
What to do ? i have no ideas anymore. All RUU updates are with older bootloader
version-main: 3.20.401.3

EDIT2: Can not find [android-info.txt] in zipped image! With your rom. I used one x toolkit (flash factory RUU ZIP)
EDIT3: I have tried everything but version stays 3.20.401.3
EDIT4: Finally successsss!! i downloaded nandroid backup from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140 and (flash first the recovery.img (from nand.zip) then restore nandroid backup))

India 2.09 update failure !! Please help

Okay, so a few days ago, i updated my htc one v to version 1.56.720.2 from 1.56.720.1...
And today i noticed that there was another update to version 2.09 something ready...
I have a stock rom (bootloader unlocked, routed and cwm installed) so i followed one of the guides to protect my root and flash stock recovery version 1.56.720.1 as it was the only recovery available for indian version using hasoons all in one kit.
All went fine bit when i tried to install 2.09, the phone re boots shows a progress bar and throws up a error halfway.. a red triangle shows up ... After which the only thing i can do is to restart..
Hote do i update???
Is it because i flashed recovery of older version??

Don't really think that from .1 to .2 the recovery changed. Did you relocked your bootloader?

If you have the stock recovery, the red triangle is normal.
If you have RUU of the 2.09 try to use that from hboot menu. Also if you have busybox installed delete it, and even superSU, so go to supersu -> settings full unroot (it was a problem with my ota update to 2.08)
But if the phone is relocked, you don't have the su privileges, so it doesn't matter that much. Also, if you unlock your bootloader again, it will do a factory reset anyways. So I think the best is to do a full unroot of the phone, try the OTA update, if it does not installs do a RUU update, then unlock BL and root, it will be a clean install, and you can do everything from the start.
But there are backup utilitys at market for sms, contacts, softwares (some of them require root tough). Google is your friend

If you run the ruu, you can extract the cid that which phones is it. If you know the cid of your device and the ruu has that cid, you're set.
That error looks like a failed update, but I don't think that it could be a problem at an ota update, but who knows? Try to download tunein.
If you flash back the 1.56 ruu, you will also have a blank phone, but deffinetly stock, and thus perfectly ready for the ota update. It is safer in a way, but if the cids match the 2.09 ruu will be the same Also the RUU can say, that the phone is capable of the RUU you try to install, so it can't really do harm. The choice is yours. (RUU hard resets your phone regardless of the version)
Yea I flashed using ruu.. and updated twice to get to 2.09..
Hell lots work! But atleast my mind is soothed now
Anyway the previous installation was getting bloated!

[Q] Probem trying to OTA update to 4.1

I am Android version 4.0.4 and apparently my HTC is HTC_622
sense 4.1
software: 2.17.708.7
I got an OTA update to 4.1 (software update:3.14.708.28 to be exact) and after I wait for it to download and I let it update, problems start to happen.
I had CWM recovery before so I flashed back stock recovery (the 622 from here : http://d-h.st/users/ClydeB1/?fld_id=8386#files ) and tried to update. I made it to the recovery and see the green arrow icon with the loading bar. But when it loads to a 1/4 or about 1/3, it green icon changes to the red exclamation and then it just freezes. Then I have to soft reboot. I load back to my original stock ROM and the update is not applied (obviously). I am unsure about what's going on. I also tried flashing this recovering :http://d-h.st/yDf and it did not work either. I tried this recovery because my current software is 2.17 but then the OTA update is 3.14 For both recoveries, I've tried with the boot loader locked/unlocked and I still have no luck.
Am I doing something wrong? I need to be in full stock to apply the OTA right? So then I Just flashed the stock recovery and relocked the bootloader.
I'm just glad it isn't boot looping like before. Thanks in advance.

I have the exate same problem, but mi CID its the HTC__001 from UK. I don't understand whats happening!
This is def the right recovery you need
http://db.tt/U5CK4noo
If you made any changes to the rom (like removing bloatware) the update will also fail !

Get your cid and main version
Fastboot OEM readcid
Fastboot getvar version-main
And check the nandroid collection in the general thread, if it's there you download it and restore it ! After that flash the stock recovery and check for the update again !

My CID it's HTC__001, but was bought in expansys, and came from UK, the main version i got to look.
I talk in the chat with HTC yestarday, and they told me that the update for my version only comes out monday, 24 of December, because my phone had come from the UK. But i told her that i already had the update available, but it gave me an error in the instalation...that's when she told me to make a factory reset, and it didn't work.
Thanks for your help.
Do the getvar command, you might be trying to use the wrong recovery...that or get the 1.36 FW from the dev section and then relock and flash the 3.14.401.27 RUU

[Q] Stock on HTC ONE white screen after OTA update.

Hi guys.
Finally today I receive the OTA upgrade to JB. First an smal upgrade was succesfully downloaded and installed, and then the firmware to upgrade the phone to JB (I had 4.03 custom rom).
After the phone install the JB upgrade the phone stuck on the HTC ONE white screen
I had a backup on the SD that let me recover the phone, I try to install the upgrade again, with the same luck. I read a post that said that erasing the SD will resolve the issue, and I have no better idea than do it!!! (yeah... really!!)
I read several post all day on XDA, I try to flash again the boot and ROM with the upgrade that I save on my PC, and with a Backup via
fastboot. But nothing work (I dont know if I did it right). I cant see the SD on fastboot, already try a factory reset, when I go to the recovery option on fastboot the phone just rebooted with no options.
My CID is BSTAR301

Attached are the backup files that I have in my pc and the OTA upgrade files that my phone download.
Here there are many people who know a lot of this!!
Please help me to recover my phone!
u say you are on a custom rom, But you tried to update OTA?
Restore phone to complete stock ( even recovery) then you can update.
you could use an RUU or maybe a nandroid

Sorry, I mean I had the ORIGINAL ROM (4.03), the only change that I made was root the phone.
My CID is BSTAR301, I only have the backup files that I copy to my pc and the OTA upgrade that the phone download. I attach the images of the files that I have.
Could you please tell me how to restore it to complete stock with the commands? which files should I use?
Thanks for you help.

I assume that you first installed CWM or TWRP recovery to root your HOX, and if you make backup of your recovery this is CWM or TWRP recovery.img, not stock recovery.img that is came with phone because you reflashed original one with TWRP or CWM and official ROM need official recovery.img. I hope that you make nandroid backup before root with TWRP or CWM because is it "must to do" in every installation guide. If so, when you wanted to update via OTA for official JB you needed to:
1. reverse to stock software (for you, you needed only to unroot or use nandroid backup if you have yours, if not try to find one in xda one x forum matching your current CID and main-version)
2. reverse to stock recovery.img that is matching your CID (exact matching) (you need to find it on xda one x forum section) - i see that you have firmware folder but dont know is it from your backup or from OTA, if it is from OTA than you can use recovery.img from that folder to flash stock recovery.img via fastboot commands (only recovery.img)
3. then you can do official JB update via OTA
And then if you have need to custom ROM you need flash again CWM or TWRP recovery.img
Also you can get full stock with RUU but RUU must fully match your CID and main version, but RUU isn't available for every phone version, and after RUU you can do officall OTA JB update (for RUU you need to lock bootloader)
Information that can help us is yours phone current main version (fastboot getvar version-main)

Yep with a ruu you lose everything, but on the otherhand it will be 100% stock. You can make backups with titanium backup or carbon .....
Edit : with a nandroid backup you will also loose everything because you must make a full wipe before restoring a nandroid backup.

I guess it happens because you are rooted. Use voodoo rootkeeper from the Play Store.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Nope root is not the issue, you can actually update a rooted phone as long as its stock and didn't touch the system.
You will automatically lose root after the update

mmmh, cmw backs up the entire rom not only the apps... so if you want to restore that backup be sure to full wipe the phone and then flash it

Then make a nandroid backup ..... format data and then restore the data from the older backup.....only the data, you can choose it with advanced restore options !
This way only the data, like apps will be restored to the new 3.20 based stock rom. Of it doesn't work you can go back to the clean stock nandroid backup.

[Help HTC 10] I relocked bootloader without having a system installed

Hi people, this is my first time posting on a forum. I've always fixed my problem by googling them but now i failed.
I fixed the problem mentioned in the title and now i'm back to the original problem.
I followed a guide on the web to root my HTC 10. What i did was unlocking the bootloader and then flashing TWRP and till then things went good.
Then i tried to root it by flashing superSU and after that my phone went in bootloop and i found out i didnt have a system image anymore.
I tried to flash the RUU with my cid but i got the following error "RU_MAIN_VER_FAIL...".
This is my situation:
-i can access download, recovery and bootloader
-I've TWRP installed and my internal storage is blank, it only has an empty TWRP folder.
-My external memory has the following folders: Android, TWRP, .android_secure, LOST.DIR
What is my problem? I even tried to restore a TWRP backup without succeeding from https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/stock-stock-collection-recovery-ruu-ota-t3359297
Please help me!!

No I meant you can flash a custom rom instead of stock. If you want stock you'll have to run a stock ruu. What's your current software number and which ruu are you trying to run?

I've used this ruu 1.90.401.5 that has same mid and cid as my phone. And before wiping my internaL storage i had nougat, 7.0 i think. This ruu thing is really twisting my mind, never heard about it before today... maybe that's because i got in trouble. I've installed viper and the phone seems to work now but i have my doubts on whether to keep it or not. I'll try this so rom for a week, i want to see if it has battery or overheating issues.
But in case i wanted to go back to stock, i dont know what went wrong and why the ruu i've picked failed to install even if it had the same cid and mid.

If you had Nougat before, that means your firmware version is 2.x.x.x. This is newer than the ruu you're trying to flash. You can only run an ruu that is at the same version as or above your current firmware version, and you cannot downgrade. That's what I mean by "run an ruu that's the same version as your phone."
Get your software info by doing fastboot getvar all from download mode. Then find an ruu that is for your CID/mid and at the same or higher version that you have. That'll take you to stock.
