Turn off security pattern? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I downloaded foxfi last night to tether to my old rezound and it had me set up a pin (I later changed to a pattern). Is there a way of turning off the security pattern so I can just slide to unlock like normal. It's aggravating to have to have that extra step.

I've been looking for a way myself, and no luck. I saw a rumor that said if you purposely got the pattern wrong 5 times then use the forgot pattern option, sign in with Google, then turn off screen lock it would work. I tried it and it didn't work. But, free tethering is worth that small inconvenience to me. Good luck finding a solution, if you do please let me know.

Not sure if clearing credentials will mess anything up. Do you "renew" your credentials somehow?

You will have to reinstall the certificates next time you start up Foxfi. That's a temporary solution. But then when Foxfi is running again you'll have to install certs again.
Sent from my Verizon HTC One

This is implying that it will ask you to install the certificate once again. But yes removing the certificate will allow you to remove the lock.
FoxFi hasn't been working for me in days. Tried everything I can think of.

In the article it talks about with the credentials gone, people can basically steal your credentials? How is that? That is the only thing keeping me from going through with it.

[Q] Remote Deletion Question

Hey folks. My Evo got stolen today, and I have a question. I've already reported it stolen to Sprint, started the Asurion claim, and changed the passwords to all the services my phone had stored passwords for. Unfortunately, there's a fair bit of info on that phone that it would do best not to spread. I have phone numbers for the vast majority of my squadron, along with some passwords for a few secure government systems. Granted, the passwords are in one of the password vault apps behind a different master password and I'll be changing them tomorrow morning anyways, but is there a way I can have google remotely delete that app and de-sync my contacts if my phone ever connects to a wifi network (or gets used on MetroPOS)? Sprint says all they can really do is blacklist the ESN, which they've done.
I don't believe so, unless you had like lookout mobile, where you pay for the premium service that allows it to do that.
There's a sprint app in the market just for future reference its called sprint total protection app(free). It saves your numbers and allows you to remotely lock your phone. It also sends gps coordinates every 2 hours of your phones location so you can find those pesky thieves and give them a piece of your mind. You get a pin code to login the website to view the gps locations and it works like a charm.

That actually works? I have it, but never set it up. May look into it now.
but OP, go for that -pushes you to it-
Thanks for the snappy replies, I'll definitely be using one of those security apps next time. Oh well. At least now the thieving bastard can never use the phone to its full potential. At this point aren't the second rate providers like Metro and cricket the only ones that will activate a phone with a dirty ESN?

Yes it actually works, oddly enough it doesn't drain battery since it only uses gps to send location then turns back off. I've been using it. Theres a weird issue with cm7 to where the app ask you to turn on gps even though it's on but it works!

I believe so, but they'd be risky for flashing it. Unless they tried to clone a good esn...but most people aren't skilled enough or would think of it.

Avast! Anti-Theft Anyone?

Anyone else use this? I used it a while back for my N1, tested the remote auto-enable GPS, siren, lock, etc and they all seemed to work great. Haven't used it since though and just decided to fire it up and get it set up on my GNexus.
Think it's worth using or just a waste of time?

I also just signed up with Cerberus. Thanks everybody!
I just "Attempted" to sign up with Cerberus last night. Paid for the app through Google Play, still haven't activated my device, and nobody is answering my e-mail to let me know what is going on. We'll see how it goes.
I've never in my life lost a phone, or misplaced it for that matter. I just figured, with Avast! being free, "why not?" have a safety net in case I lose it.
Set it up with my wife's phone as the "trusted" number so if it gets lost, I can track it
Cerebus is probably better but I don't see the need to pay for something like this, personally.

I've worked inIT for years and one thing i noticed with virus removals. They came in by the bunches with eset, macafee (sp) Norton, etc all paid subscriptions. The least infected computers I've seen were all running avast free. My personal laptop has never been infected. Recent, avast on my phone picked up malware code not only in an app i downloaded from the play store (koi pond live wallpaper) but it also noticed the same app/malware in my mybackuproot compressed back up of the app.

I can also vouch for Cerberus! Just make sure you don't restore it through titanium, it causes problems
My apologies for gravedigging, but...

I applaud you for finding a relevant thread to post in. I have used rooted avast to find a lost phone. I left it at work derp.

I use Cerberus as well as Avast. Cerberus anti-theft is much easier to re-enable after flashing a new ROM, so I just turn that feature off in Avast. There doesn't seem to be much virus activity in the Android sphere yet, but Avast has a nice firewall, permissions snooper, and some other things. Saves me from having to install a few separate apps that cover the same territory.
Haven't lost my phone yet, but I've seen posts by people who have recovered their phones using Avast, and others using Cerberus.
hi all
not sure if this is the right thread, but i also installed the avast anti-theft on my note 10.1 and my wife's note 1.
the problem is that i already un-installed the avast program. using the application manager, also using the titanium backup to remove it.
apparently it is still there. i just recieved an sms from my wife's phone that a new sim was inserted and all, but she informed me she just turned off her phone. no sim was removed or anything.
now this would just be irritating if we are in the same country, but right now she is using her roaming number and that number is sending back these messages to me.
is there any other solution to totally removing that notification? i am worried that when i follow her there also and have my sim be on roaming, my Note 10.1 would also be sending these messages everytime I turn off my phone or remove my sim.
any help would greatly be appreciated, as this has been already going for 2 weeks now. i am afraid to look at the bill on her mobile number.
thanks guys.
sorry for the long post.

You may need to check settings/security/device administration and see if avast is still there. Avast hides a secondary app to prevent someone from simply uninstalling the app if stolen and you'll have to disable the administration option to truly uninstall it.

[Q] HTCdev login problems

Does anyone else have problems staying logged into htcdev? Every time I log in, the site says I've logged in but on redirecting me to another page, logs me out.
According to their FAQ,
"Our site requires a single IP authentication, and if you are behind a more complicated network that may alter your IP depending on loading, certain features may not work as intended. We suggest you connect to our site via a direction connection, such as via a home network. We are sorry about the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
Thing is I am at home. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Since I can't really unlock my bootloader if I can't access htcdev...
I had troubles using Chrome browser. I actually had to use IE to get it to work properly. Have you tried using a different browser?

Yes, I've tried Chrome, Opera and IE, all have the same problem.
Hmmm. Perhaps a router issue. Have you tried bypassing your router and connecting directly to your modem with ethernet cable?
I did try accessing the site from my phone and got the same problem. Also my computer isn't near the router so I can't try that.
Did you use wifi when accessing the site using your phone? If so, try using 3G with your provider ...?

Maybe you should make sure that your browser's cookie settings are correct. Also, if you are using a proxy, chances are, that cookies are not processed properly. Also, if your IP address constantly changes, it may cause problems logging in as well.
I'm having the same problem. I've tried Chrome, IE, Safari, Dolphin HD, etc. Nothing has worked. Its quite frustrating.

I had the same exact problem when trying to login to HTC dev. It would kick me out every time i would login. I found out that the date on my computer was wrong so i changed it and boom, it worked! Make sure that your date and time is accurate and see if it works. Hope this helps
I have been trying this on multiple computers, multiple browsers, with correct time settings I might add...and to no avail. Maybe this is there way of telling us to piss off and not mod our phones...might possibly be the last HTC I buy honestly. Great phone, but I have no way to make it better after it has hit the 1 year mark and my warranty is up.

(Google Wallet) Tap & Pay Setup Failed

help Tap & Pay Setup Failed i reinstalled and contacted Google about iSSUE.. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF FIX?
So if within the Wallet app you goto "Settings" then "About" does it say "Tap and pay" "NfcPaymentSetupFailure: 11"?
If so, there are a number of people having that issue including me. I've filed tickets with Google but haven't gotten any solutions yet.
Wallet used to work for my device however a couple months back it stopped and the NFC part never started working again.
It says UNAVAILABLE (NFCPAYMENTSETUPFAILURE:1)
Mine says the same message. It means youre locked out from the secure element. You will never have tap and pay on that phone.
The only solution is to bring it to sprint, show them the problem, and tell them your secure element is broken.
Uninstall wallet updates and the message will day "secure element not responding E00"

Is this confirmed? Because Google Wallet support has stated nothing of this sort to me is my correspondence with them. Granted, I they did not ask about the info on the "About" screen, but I've been back and forth with them quite a bit and it's never come up.
Strange, because Wallet worked just prior to the last official update for me. No other changes -- did not change ROM, recovery, or anything else.

There's nothing quite like Google Wallet, but there a number of other mobile payment apps available -- Level Up, Wallet (Pay with Square), Paypal mobile app -- each had a relatively small install base as far as merchants go. Most merchants that use these services seem to be smaller cafés, etc.

Like I stated code 1 is the secured element locking you out. The damn thing id buggy and some people have had it lock them for no reason.

I got this with the new update. I reset the app, rolled back updates, set it up and then upgraded and am fine.
Ha! I never had an issue setting it up after the new change. Everything went through fine, however using it yesterday my transaction failed. Reason it said it failed was because tap n pay wasn't set up nor was there a card selected. Stupid thing is the app shows tap n pay is set up n I do have a card selected. Never had an issue on the old wallet..
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I was worried, tap-n-pay wouldn't set up earlier, couldn't use wallet at a store wh n it had worked previously on this install of this rom. (synergy) After reading this thread, I checked and I got the code 11 thing, thought maybe I was f*cked with the secure element. But a quick clear data/cache and a force stop, restart the app, all seems fine. Says I'm ready to tap-n-pay. Cool.

I am going to attempt a fix file I used a while back I think for S3 I had but it is labelled JBWALLETFIX so it might work or help. I shall let yall know what comes of this. It worked for a long while and then a few days ago when I did the 4.3 update....I get this error. I called and escalated a ticket with Google but doubt they care. More to come. If the zip works I will post it.
Success....Apply this....Fixed!
Apply this zip in recovery and it fixes the problem. I think perhaps there may be some weird issue with updates they did recently and being rooted because the lady asked me "are you rooted?" and I lied and said NO I think some apps do look at root but wtf is with the OS all of a sudden breaking if I give it SU access? I did Unix admin and that should not occur at all. Simply gives a person access to system files. Sure if you delete something essential...you bork it. Anyhow here is the file

Constant Google Play Store error 927

What i have done so far is: cleared cache, uninstalled updates and then let it update on its own and then trying to update/resume downloads, factory reset. It is happening on my One and LG G pad. Anybody run across a fix or have any tips other than what I've already tried? I contacted Google and like an idiot when he asked about me being rooted i said yes. He blamed my problems on being rooted. I dont believe that is the problem since i went all the way back to stock with the same problems. Beyond frustrated.

Yeah that ones kind of pointless. I think what some people say is create a new account just to update all your apps and then switch back. Maybe uninstall paid apps prior as well. And then re install once you update core apps.
To me it sounds like a google problem with your account. Does this happen when downloading new apps, when updating an already installed app, or both? Is it just paid apps or free apps too? Try to create a new google account just to see if you can successfully download a new app, or update your current apps. If it works with the new account, then the problem is google and not your phone.
Well, your not gonna believe what fixed it....I changed my password. Maybe something or someone got a hold of my password somehow and blocked the play store..thanks for all the suggestions!
