Hello,
I want to buy a lg optimus g,
Does anyone know how much the device costs in euros?
And what is your experiences with this phone.
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
In the UK it's around £350 off contract, converted to euros it's about 435 euros, more or less. (about $550)
Personally I love this device, awesome screen, great camera capability, lag free (2gb ram obviously helps, along with the quad core 1.5ghz processor), browsing/games/apps are a treat. If you don't mind the huge screen, then this is a very good phone for you. Personally I prefer this over the galaxy note 2... Good luck and enjoy (if you decide to buy it).

Hey Guys
Sorry for OT but im From Europen too, my 'Problem' is i want to buy a new Smartphone in One Month.
I'm not sure what i want to buy
I see Note 2 --> i test this for 3 Weeks / Very good Phone.
Then is there the Optimus G. Very nice one too.
But there is a Test-Video on YouTube (Optimus G vs. Galaxy S3) from Android Authority.
In this Test the Optimus G had an much worse Camera then S3 (Pictures & Videos).
Because of this, im not sure. Without this 'Bug' its better then the Note (Hardware).
Can you confirm this?
Is Camera fast Like Note 2?
Last but not Least: HTC DNA (in Europe ... when it comes ... HTC Deluxe DLX)
Highlight is the Screen: 440 ppi
And the Hardware is approximately same like Optimus G.
Or shuld i wait after CES in Las Vegas. I dont know
What do you think?
OT Ends

my advice,if you care about the camera, you should not think about LG...though I myself is a LG user,I have to say that LG's camerais just soso...maybe worse...
though it's a 13.0 M pixels,pictures taken by it is worse than the N7100
wait...if you want to buyan international version, the 8.0 Mpixels camera on att&Canada version is much butter than the 13.0 M on Korea version, youmay find some pictures taken by others on xda
despite the camera,it's the best phone that I've ever used
hope this will help you to buy your favorite phone

Well, cant see any real difference between Note 2 in case of camera, but personally i think Note2 is more wise choice, just cause of usability and strong battery.
Btw korean version of optimus G has a really annoying issue - cause of the way it designed, the camera lense easy to get dirty and hard to clean, so usually there a lot of blur and distortion on images.
Ah, and the main issue of the camera - the autofocus logic really differs from other phones - you must tap tge screen to get the camera focused.
Man who designed it, should be executed immediately.
Now im Waiting after the 6. December. Maybe we will see something new from the HTC Deluxe for Europe.
Hope it will had an stronger Battery then US & Korean Version (2100 mah).
After this, i watch witch Phone i want to buy. All 3 Phone are very Good.
So i stop the OT here and BTT sry
Hope Lg Optimus G is soon available in Europe.

Hello there,
I believe you got some of the specs wrong..
- For starters the Z has the bigger screen, and is slightly wider than the OG.
- They use the same Snapdragon processor, both clocked at 1,5 GHz.
- Optimus G is in fact lighter than the Z.
If the purpose is to make a decision on which phone to get, you might also wanna consider price? I don't know where you live, but where I live the Optimus G is priced considerably lower than the Xperia Z. Another thing to consider, if you're into rooting and flashing custom ROMs, might be the fact that SONY seems to be friendlier towards communities such as this one, meaning that developers have an easier time developing for SONY phones.
Good luck and all the best!

There won't be no True IPS Display in G Pro. There'll be True FullHD AH-IPS Display which is lots & lots better than any other displays available
And G Pro is the winner over XperiaZ hands down
Sv: Optimus Prime Pro vs Xperia Z
Even the normal G does a better jobb than the Z for my use. Did use my Z for one day then i was done with it.. not a big Sony Fan.
So if I want 5"+ i will wait on the Pro or see what Samsung will have on next Galaxy. HTC One will be fun try tho, looks like a sweet phone..

G pro is not using zerogap display but the display quality is around 1000 times better than xperia z
and the snapdragon 600 processor really kills
the only merit of xperia z = water resistant
other than that xperia z will not even match any upcoming new phones
If lucky I gonna get my G pro this week
I don't know why G pro is not coming out till now
Can any korean friends explain a bit what's going on?!
reviews telling that the display will not be as nice as optimus G
but the quality is still good enough to kill most phones in current market
M7/S4 are also good choices

Dear fellow forum users,
I'm currently evaluating a new Android phone. I'm pondering between the Optimus G Pro and waiting for the G2.
What are your experiences and your level of satisfaction with this phone running LG stock Android? And how active do you think is the community regarding custom ROMs? (I prefer as close to Nexus-like Android as possible).
Thanks for your feedback.

HI Buddy,
G2 has a better camera & slightly better viewing angle. The jelly bean 4.2.2 which is ported on G2 will soon be out in market as soon as G2 start retailing. then you can port that rom to GPRO. Our wonderful Devs are already waitng for that.
Now everything is almost same (Snapdragon 800 & 600 doesnt differ in real life scenario, user experience is almost same).
GPRO is cheaper & has a big screen, Now if you dont want to pay extra only for a OIS camera then go checkout with GPRO.
Have a nice day !!!!

Is OIS really that effective in normal camera shoots?
Does it make significant difference?
I'm thinkimg, should I or shouldI not go for G2 from my G Pro just for the OIS in G2?

Hi Kelvin,
OIS plays a significant role when you are taking a picture of moving object & reduces the blurr. It also depends of the capabilities of the Photographer.
Now it depends how often you use this feature(or how much it matters to you). for example: if you shoot pictures while you drive or during a footbal match. it will be a handy feature. Now it depends what you are going to do with your pics at the end of the day just sharing on social media,
From my personal point of view this feature doesnt matter a lot on a phone. because whenever i am on a vacation or travel i usualy prefer to take my Digital Camera with me.
Just note down your requirement & compare. This will be helpful to decide.

Got it!
That's good advice! :good:
Thanks, buddy!
Confused!!
For the life of me, I could not decide between the G2 and the G Pro. I initially wanted the G Pro for the big screen, but then because the specs of the G2 are more 'future proof', I went with that.
In the back of my mind, I still want the G Pro, and still have time to swap my G2 for it. Do you think the G Pro (Snapdragon 600) power will last 3 years and not cause lag/stutter? Do you think app developers can even keep up with this constant hardware update? Snapdragon 600 should still be powerful enough for years to come, no? Reason being, I'm not the type to buy a phone every year, and I like to keep mine for at least 3 years.
Thanks!

The direction Android is headed is toward better optimization. KitKat makes even old phones seem fast. I have KitKat running on my old Galaxy S3 with only 1GB of RAM and a slower Exynos processor, and it flies. Zero lag.
Three years from now, the LG OG Pro will still be a great phone, and it will probably still be running 4.1.2 officially, sad to say, but you aren't limited to stock ROMs, thankfully.

So, so you think Kit Kat will come to the Optimus G Pro? It is still fairly new. If not, would there be an unofficial Kit Kat release for it? If so, would it be stable enough?
Thanks!

I don't understand your confusion, to me the choice is extremely simple:
1. Does the phone have enough storage?
To me even 32GB (maximum available for G2) is very limiting cause I take videos a lot and keep a lot of music on my device. Optimus G Pro has a SD card slot. Also, meenova or similar is not an option to me because I keep my phones in my pockets and something protruding from the USB socket will surely destroy that socket very soon.
2. Does the phone have a replaceable battery?
I am a very heavy user and current phones really don't stand a chance in terms of battery lifespan, current batteries have a service life which is not sufficient to me (I already killed and replaced one battery on my Galaxy Note within a year due to normal wear). Replacing a battery at a service center for an undisclosed amount of money (usually more than 50 EUR) is absolutely unacceptable to me when I could buy a battery off-the-shelf for 15 EUR and replace it myself in phones with user-replaceable batteries.
3. Is the phone too big to handle and carry?
Since I moved from a SE Xperia Arc S to a Galaxy Note I found out that to me the bigger screen size is a lot more important than the ability to handle the phone with one hand.
The performance margin between the two would be marginal in most scenarios (even to me as a heavy user) and the possible future updates are almost a non-issue because manufacturers tend to stop software support for their phones before the next meaningful Android upgrade has emerged (most Android version upgrades are too incremental to me to make or break the deal, at least since 4.1).
they both great you wont be disappointed
camper the specs and decide
i choose GPro cos:
cost even for 32GB
5.5"
sdcard / battery is replaceable and good
very good performance for my usage I'm not a gamer
great experience from stock [ no lags and GUI is cool ]
easier to hold then note 2 or 3
disadvantages:
camera in low light
lg support no KK?
IMO build is OK but protection needed and recommended
Am I happy with my G Pro? yeah, so happy with it......
so far so great.....

I say go for the g pro. Ive been through 6 phones in less than 2 months and g pro is my fav. I had Xperia Ion, Samsung gs2, Atrix 4g, HTC One, Oppo Find 5 and Nexus 4. Obviously N4 and HTC One had the most devs but g pro is still fairly new and it has so much screen real estate. Im pretty sure once someone gets their hands on that g2 os we will have a port. Things are moving on this thread, slowly, but we are getting there. Out of all my phones i still think g pro is the best.

Hey guys I will keep this simple.
I have been offered a straight up trade with an LG G PRO E988 for my Samsung Mega 6.3 i9200.
We all know the difference and I know in terms of screen estate is a huge downgrade(especially in videos/movies/games which is my primary use), but I think the 1080p LCD and the Snappy 600/Adreno 320 will make up for it a lot for that "smaller" screen.
I got used to the Mega now and even the Note 3 a friend has, feels a lot "smaller" than my Mega.
But I think the better specs as I said will make up for it. And I'm sure I will get used to the "smaller" screen over time.
I have to decide until tonight. Please I would love to hear your thoughts on this and especially from E988 owners.
P.S: One thing. I read somewhere that the Indian version E988 doesn't have FM Radio? Any confirmations?
Mods I'm not sure if this belongs to the Q&A/Help sub-forum or in the General thread, so please move accordingly if necessary.

Don't! Just don't downgrade from a 6.3" to a 5.7" of Note 3 or even a 5.5" of G Pro!

HTC Max not an option. Too expensive. We are talking about or over 300euros difference. I'm in the EU.
And I really love my Mega. I had it for over a month now and I absolutely love it. Plants vs Zombies 2, Dead Trigger 2, The Hobbit 1080p on it, all are an amazing experience.
But I had my eye on the G Pro for a while now tbh. I'm just looking to see if I can find some constructive input on it vs the Mega.
In that case, keep your 6.3"!

I have not used the mega so can't comment on it... But OG Pro is a brilliant brilliant phone, no doubt about it... Screen is big at 5.5 " and processor, internal storage are all top no ch...my reason for buying the OG Pro was a) battery life, b) a swiss army knife of hardware features ( removable battery , SD card slot, NFC, wireless charging, 13 mp camera etc , list goes on) ...until now ( more than 3 months with the OG pro) and the phone has exceeded my expectations

Having gone from a long line of Samsung devices prior to the LG Optimus G Pro, I can say that the screen is remarkably good. I much prefer it to the super saturated and artificial colors of AMOLED. It's much more pleasant overall for reading and image viewing. There's no doubt that I'll stick with IPS from now on over AMOLED.

I have the Samsung S4 active and LG E980---both rooted and the S4 active has Lollipop and faster processor. Guess which phone I use? The LG! The battery life on all my Samsungs just can't compare---they're at 20% by 8:00 PM where the LG is at 60%. Also, the LG is faster and rarely seems to get bogged down. I am curious about the G4 though and it's either that or possibly the Moto. I'm done with Samsung---too much bloat and crap.

But is the G4 a definite step up, or is it a lateral move? I remember looking at the specs for the G3, and it seemed that the OGP still had some Better specs in certain areas. So, if we migrate over to the G4, what if anything will we be losing? I might wait a bit and see if the G4 Note becomes a reality...
Edit: if you like a bright white screen, you might not be happy with the G4. When i did a side by side comparison between the G4 & the OGP, I noticed that the G4 was much dimmer than the OGP, and it had a distinct blue tint instead of the bright white I'm accustomed to. Both phones were set to m max brightness. I'm not sure if the G4 has any sort of tint or tone settings to have caused the blue-ish screen, but it was definitely set set max brightness. It reminded me of the coloring on an Amoled from a Note 2. One thing of note though...when viewed by itself, the G4's screen looked fine! But when placed side by side, there was a marked difference...
Let snapdragon 820 phone come. I will upgrade rather 808 or 810

I played with the G4 twice in the store. The G Pro and the G4 both have the same size screen, but you get more screen to use on the G Pro when you factor in the G4 having onscreen buttons. I wish they had made the G4 with a 5.7 inch screen like the LG Stylus.

Quite honestly, maybe I'm missing something. I messed around with the G4, G3, Samsung S5, S6 and the Nexxus 6 and I noticed very little difference in the LG E980 and these other phones. Screen--not much difference. Reaction time---almost the same. Size---same, thickness---slightly better but nothing crazy.
Honestly, about the only phone I thought was "exciting" was the Iphone 6 plus. But I want external memory and removable battery. Just not excited to upgrade...is there something I'm missing?

Yeah you missing that you are crazy nut. Lol serious thought. I agree on pretty much everything. I do not think the last few years have made a big difference anymore. And the G Pro is probably the best phone you easily can buy for under 150 probably the best one anyway. Because most phones more expensive or same price range have build in battery and those after roughly 2 years aren't lasting anymore. I had to get a replacement for my G Pro because the battery drained within 3 hours. But isn't a big deal since it has a replaceable battery.

I moved from the G Pro to the G4. Battery life has been great so far, standby lasted a few days. On screen was near 6 hours with heavy use and the quick charge feature is great! Now that it's rooted and all of the bloat removed, it's an even better phone. The camera is very impressive and crisp. I still have my G Pro and love it however, I just don't turn it on much anymore.
