Im going to get right to the point. I have been literally searching for 48 hours and cant find ANYTHING that helps
I flash roms like crazy
flashed illusion 4.2.2, google says imei issue happens at random when flashing.
IMEI says 0 no internet
I googled and googled, no USSD codes work.
i dont have an but 2 empty folders in my esf folder(drm and wifi) no nv_data nothing.
iv tried all kinds of programs since i cant use USSD codes and Downloading mode doesnt seem to have the same effect i cant us that either.
Is there hope or do i have take it to t-mobile/get a new phone.
I am livid with frustration.

I highly recommend you all read this thread & pass it on to other users! Maybe someone will post it in the Tmo development section also, but I wasn't sure if it was the proper place? This is a huge risk, and I don't want to see anyone else lose their phone, especially those without insurance!

Not known, but just assume so until proven otherwise.
what is the effect of not having the imei on the phone? why is it a big deal?
Is this IMEI disappearance a first for android phones?

Your IMEI is your phone's ID number to the network. No IMEI = goodbye connectivity to ATT/Tmobile/etc. Your phone just lost it's 2g/3g/4g capabilities. In the world of Apple, it's like your iphone turning into an ipod touch.

more bluntly, a phone without an IMEI won't get served a signal by AT&T, as posted earlier by someone else if you had read the topic. And what's a phone without a data OR voice connection.

No, Samsung phones from way back have had a history of corruption of the EFS partition/file/whatever.
This happened to me with my captivate a few years ago the only way to fix it was to send it to Samsung for a factory firmware reflash.

NO a nandroid restore has been proven unsuccessful, and I don't want to scare anyone, I want ppl to be informed! I myself have chosen not to flash anything else until more is discovered, but that's just my choice & I'm not as advanced as many users here on XDA.

I've been to at least a half dozen hacker sites trying to locate ppl with the issue, and I've not yet discovered a sprint, or Verizon phone suffering from this issue, only gsm models . But, I can't promise it won't happen, but I would assume it doesn't affect you.

The problem came when i updated to CM, i noticed that i could not get 4G. After that, i searched online and read some problems about peoples IMEI being 0. Sure enough i had the same problem, so i followed this threads instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117 and managed to restore my IMEI(also flashed back to stock and phone is now unrooted). Now im stuck, i have searched online for hours for a solution to get my 4g back, but most threads are dead. Can someone give me some info for a solution to this problem im experiencing?

Hi I'm having the same issue and hopefully you can help me.
I rooted my phone like two weeks ago. And installed CWM and CM 10.1 or something like that. Then I remember I updated the CM
And little by little I started loosing HSPA+ or something like that then loosing 3G and when I found out it was only working
EDGE. I went online and read something about imei 0. And in fact my imei had been lost
I was able to inject the imei (I didn't have a back up) but I'm still stuck on EDGE.
I've read I could flash a stock firmware but the only access to internet I have is from my phone
And I cannot download a 615MB file on edge. Please help.
I would like to be able to get 3G back.

hey, sorry to be a bother, but i've also had with the same issue as of Thursday. phone is stuck with only edge for data. I'd flashed a CM nightly on Thursday, didn't know my backup had been cleaned off my sd card, and lost all data connection. went back to stock firm, no imei, fixed that issue but still only 2g data. If you need any more info just say the word. Any help is appreciated :fingers-crossed:
I'm freaking out. I've spent the past 3 hours reading IMEI articles and I have no idea idea what I'm doing. I'm using CM10 and my IMEI is 0. I never backed up anything because I had no idea I needed to. I don't know what to do :crying:

Same situation here Can You PM how to repair 3g data for T999.
Thanks.
Been reading these forums ever since i bought my I317 about a month ago, And after learning and softbricking a few times I decided to make an account here and get some help from the pro's. xD
The problem i'm running into is getting the EFS to the "point" where i can repair it
On my last softbrick, the IMEI was 0'd out but the next step replaced my IMEI with one that is*nt on the back of my phone.
I'm back on rooted N7105 International firmware and seeking help.
Any would be appreciated ;D.

I don't think anyone has had luck restoring imei number on this phone.. sorry
And also u are in the wrong thread..this is i317/i317m att
Lost IMEI and EFS repairs can be done...
Look for mobiletechvideos.com
They offer a restoration service for many devices...but it'll set you back $125...
Makes me wonder if it's worth it ...given the timing on the note 3 release date being so close...
Happy hunting ....g

There is a known issue with MMS and CM 10.1 (and anything based off it that). If you are sending to someone on a certain network, the size of the attachment is limited. For AT&T, I believe that number is 600KB. But varies from network to network.
